Blown away is an understatement. This took me right straight back to my childhood. It was one of the first few albums I ever brought home. Let's just say the album cover freaked my family out a bit 😂 what a great album. Love Edgar Winter ❤
56 year old doom metal musician here. I never got into Edgar Winter...I was more into Johnny when I was young. But Dayum! what badass musician, and what a heavy ass song! Much respect to Edgar. Dude must be inhuman. 😀
Amazing how Greg Bissonette always manages to play an energetic and driving drum groove regardless of whom he is playing with or what style of music he's playing.
~Who needs caffeine? This Talent all wrapped up above is mine! Man, Edgar Winter is "Mr. Amazing", all wrapped up in one package! Goes from one instrument to the other, and never seems to be out of breath or anything! Priceless, indeed! ♫~
Edgar is frickin amazing, period. Check his original frankenstein vid, early 70s, long version.... He not only plays several things, but plays em WELL.
This is indeed a 1973 classic. Kudos to The Beatle Ringo Starr for putting together such spectacular show and amazing and talented band. I like the part behind the scenes at the end of the clip when Ringo joked with Edgar Winter... it brings me such great feelings and sweet memories of the golden age of Music..
wow, great clips from this show, good line up.Squier,Hamish and David Lee Roths drummer Gregg Bissonette.my first drum tutorial video way back in the nineties!! Winters is and always been from another world, just wow!
Anybody else think Winter's voice is hilarious? Dude looks like some sort of ancient warrior until he opens his mouth. Brilliant musician, though...one of my favorites.
His voice is excellent. How many white rockers who sing performed at the Apollo Theater in Harlem? Edgar's live album featured some of his performance there which showed his vocal versatility, incredible vocal range and overall excellent voice
Only when he's speaking, not singing, which I'm guessing is also what you were referring to. He has a slight lisp which I wouldn't expect, it never came through in his vocal work.
Yes, was at the show too. Stunning and memorable lineup...all round. Winter's in fantastic form. Ringo #1 favorite all time....saw Johnny as far back as 1969..this show rivaled the best of any of them.
@Tazhidito Ya buske esta rola y la vi en varios videos, pero lo ke vi anoche en el Auditorio Nacional de Mexico no se compara con nada, fue espectacular !!
None of Edgar's keyboard solos match up with video....hmmm? Fast-Forward to 5:36 -5:55 an notice that Edgar's hands are not even on the keyboard, but you still hear the solo. And then again, at 6:46 - 7:01, the arpeggio that Edgar is playing isn't in the same register as what is being heard.
Hmmm? Seems to me like they do, it's just that a lot of the sound comes from the effects knob he's toying with in his left hand. He doesn't need to be playing keys to get noise out of that keytar.
kdragon7 Such as when? You have to realize that his left hand is operatng a sound processor attached to the keytar - that's what makes those things so awesome.
I know, it's sad, but this is a very butchered version of Frankenstein. Gregg Bissonette or Edgar were very out of sync with each other, hence Gregg ending the second synth section early, and bringing Edgar into the second percussion solo earlier than normal. I've seen other performances of Frankenstein on this tour, where everything was fine, every player was synced up... It just went horribly wrong in this show, and trust it to be the one show that's being filmed for DVD.
but Ringo plays so good, his technique for playing drums and the sound he makes on them are unique. this song would sound very much better with the two drummers playing together :D
I went to see Ringo during this tour and even though I was familiar with Billy from MTV and his hits, I had no idea he could play so well. He had some great solos that night and was a rhythm machine backing other artists.
Never saw Squire live and frankly until I saw a video of one of his hits and he was introduced I didn't know it was him. He is a great player. Very impressed. it must've been him lacking all the hair. @@oig40203
There is a much better version of Frankenstein on TH-cam from Rockpalast 2007 where you could at least hear what he was playing, but it was no 2600. From experience I can tell you it's no fun playing the 2600's keyboard with a strap. It weighs over 20lbs! A lot of 2600 owners these days use a MIDI controller through a converter anyway. You get a 3 voice 2600, a better keyboard with velocity and pressure sensitivity and if it has sounds of it's own you can run them through the 2600.
Blown away is an understatement.

Anyone else completely blown away by Gregg Bisonnette's mastery percussion?
Stunning really
Im with ya brother!!!
That's because my cousin Gregg is on drums
Paul Lipford you guys should check out the original version with Rick Derringer Dan Hatman on Bass And the late Chuck Ruff on drums. Its Excellent.
Yes.
Edgar is a muscial genius! He can play just about anything.
WHat is most amazing is how he can look like he he's half sleeping and not very sure footed while playing the toms but still bein total control.
I always knew that Edgar Winter was a pretty servicable saxophonist, but I never realized he was quite so soulful. Thanks.
Amazing how Greg Bissonette always manages to play an energetic and driving drum groove regardless of whom he is playing with or what style of music he's playing.

Edgar never ceases to amaze!!!!! What a performer
Edgar still blows me with his awsome talent on sax.
The '70s version with Rick Deringer is also very wild.
I still have my tshirt from the Reno concert. It was fabulous, with Edgar Winter performing Frankenstein and Gary Wright performing Dream Weaver.
For me this is the best instrumental rock song ever.
The Edgar Winter Band, They Only Come Out At Night. A must for any Rock N Roll fan. Johnny Winter R.I.H Rock In Heaven. ✌from Utah.
got that album when it came out labels on it are on the wrong sides
There is nothing like watching a bunch of well-versed musicians jamming some of the best music has to offer. Thanks for posting these classics!
Now that is a musician. Edgar Winter is amazing.
Edgar Winter is a musical mind-blower!!
I have this on another Ringo DVD with Sheila E on drums and Billy Squier. Phenominal for sure.
So much talent in one place. That's the way to do it !!!!
Edgar Winter Is A Monster Talent on the keytar, portable synth as well as tenor sax!!
this is my first time I watched (in TH-cam) Edgar do his thing. Wow!!! He is truly one of the legends!!
he is awesome
Edgar is frickin amazing, period. Check his original frankenstein vid, early 70s, long version.... He not only plays several things, but plays em WELL.
I was in Edgar's first bands
Edgar is highly skilled and talented
This is indeed a 1973 classic. Kudos to The Beatle Ringo Starr for putting together such spectacular show and amazing and talented band. I like the part behind the scenes at the end of the clip when Ringo joked with Edgar Winter... it brings me such great feelings and sweet memories of the golden age of Music..
Edgar Winter is a musical beast !!
wow, great clips from this show, good line up.Squier,Hamish and David Lee Roths drummer Gregg Bissonette.my first drum tutorial video way back in the nineties!! Winters is and always been from another world, just wow!

They don't make them like Edgar anymore. Frikkin' music Monster! LOve it!!
Best performance I have heard in months
I saw him in 1978 he was the back up for the Allman Brothers Boston Garden he lit the place on fire back in the day
Must have been quite the concert! I remember seeing Jethro Tull that year in the Gahden. Unreal concert.
I saw Tull that year too bursting out tour I was mistaken Edgar winter was 1979
Just one of the BEST arrangements and a total classic! Edger seemed to be crazy under rated. Great talant.
The guy is so freaking talented!!!
A genialidade de Edgar Winter e sua Banda levada às últimas consequências do ma ra vi lho so...!

Great gig! Thanks for posting!
I am a drummer actually and my "teacher" was Ringo Starr (I mean I learnt playing by listening to him) and I agree, he is very underrated :)
Awesome! Go Edgar!
He is excellent ❤
edgar winter frankenstein is a musicial horror classic i,m sure that the monster boris karloff would certainly enjoy .
saw him and band at CoCoa Beach pier in 1985 (or 6) This guy puts on a great show!!! anybody want to tackle him on the saX...lol
Good sound for a live show!
My first record I bought = free ride ! And b side ! When it comes ! 1973’

I still have a crush on Edgar Winter. Those white eyelashes....
Dagmar Roberts him and his brother were Albino's.
I gotta get tix to Ringo & the best people here
Dude that drummer is fuckin incredible
Another Favorite Jam.
Anybody else think Winter's voice is hilarious? Dude looks like some sort of ancient warrior until he opens his mouth. Brilliant musician, though...one of my favorites.

your reply sounds fishy
One of the most talented Men in Rock and roll!!!!!!
Only when he's speaking, not singing, which I'm guessing is also what you were referring to. He has a slight lisp which I wouldn't expect, it never came through in his vocal work.
He sings fine! I was referring to the Texas drawl when he talks.
I'll ride into the abyss screaming at the top of my lungs and cranking this song on 11.
Saw them on this tour! love Ringo, but this blew Richie right out of the water!
Yes, was at the show too. Stunning and memorable lineup...all round. Winter's in fantastic form. Ringo #1 favorite all time....saw Johnny as far back as 1969..this show rivaled the best of any of them.
great show!
Edgar Winter gets the Herman Munster seal of approval.
@Tazhidito Ya buske esta rola y la vi en varios videos, pero lo ke vi anoche en el Auditorio Nacional de Mexico no se compara con nada, fue espectacular !!
Amen brother!!
Saw Edgar back in the Mid '80s Saved "The Monster" For Last Song did a 30 minute version with Rick D.Outstanding Performance.
Great stuff

Edgar is the MAN.

Very good
He looks healthier now than when I saw him in 82.
Cool !
Season pro...fantastic.
@enzobeatleyfloyd Yo ayer lo vi :D aqui en México :D, es un gran show disfrutalo amigo ;)
Ringo and my younger brother look alike oddly enough, could be twins....
Nice -- real musicians
Gregg Bissonette is drumming his ass off.
Took me a minute but it sounds like Edgar is alluding to the song "We All Had a Real Good Time" when he says "Is everybody having a real good time?!"
GENIOS !!!!!!!
Gregg Bissonnette one of the best on the planet ..Edgar just kills
Hats off to Greggs Drum Technician..
Nice "Pro Shot" !!
wow !
Cool as all get out.

Happy Birthday Edgar Dec 28th!
OLD ROCKERS RULE!!!!
Edgar. Freaking. Winter. Nuff said.

+TheRealCritique Yeah, somebody offstage was playing those parts, he wasnt even close to synching up w/ the sounds...
kdragon7 Such as when? You have to realize that his left hand is operatng a sound processor attached to the keytar - that's what makes those things so awesome.
BS

super maga chingon
this so reminds me of smoking a really huge joint. a joint filled with WEED and dripping of honey.
billy squir on guitar?
yes BILLY SQUIER
He is quite an accomplished guitarist.
Much like Sammy Hagar, his guitar playing is overlooked.
I went to see Ringo during this tour and even though I was familiar with Billy from MTV and his hits, I had no idea he could play so well. He had some great solos that night and was a rhythm machine backing other artists.

Ringo got the hell out of there! Lol
plays a mean sax. Listen to him on Pick up the pieces in this same series.
The drummer is my cousin Gregg
I remember when he played in David Lee Roth's band after Dave left Van Halen and went solo...That was a great lineup...Gregg is an awesome drummer.
uuuuuuuuuuu faltan 7 dias para que ringo venga a la argentina
And he didn't beat the crap out of the keyboard like back in '73.
Same question here. I think is limited technique. Greg Bissonette is a beast though.,
give me frankenstein enetime.
Who is the drummer kicking ass on this???
majors
My cousin Gregg Bissonette
Why Ringo never plays this song!!??
At.this.show!

¿cómo se llama esta pieza?...es muy buena.
Frankenstein!
Francisco Mendoza
Frankeistein lol and the only one good song they composed.
