      I was in the audience for the "Live at the Paramount" recordings in the Seattle Paramount theatre back in 1972. That was a fabulous concert. One of the opening songs was "Albert Flasher" with Cummings on the grand piano. His voice was so powerful and his piano playing on that song was just killer. Kurt winter's lead guitar was perfect on all those songs.

    • @wallymurray9805
      @wallymurray9805 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Timothy B. Schmidt's voice adds those sweet high parts that veteran vocalists often have to give up simply due to the ravages of time. He has always made any ensemble he is a part of exponentially better, without seeking the limelight for himself. To me, he comes across as one of those people who are simply about making music better.

    • @quicksite
      @quicksite 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And it would have been equally good here had there been a pro soundboard mixer. But the ass significantly dialed back the harmony mics while keeping Burton's too hot, thus that kind of baritone sound dominating which should have been the full spectrum harmonies. You hear them vaguely in the background, But do you hear Todd rundgren? No. You shouldn't judge the harmonies here based on the shitty soundboard mix, they were all dialed way too down.

    Great in the 70s, still great in the 90s, and now, still great 30 years beyond in 2024. The music of the 60s and 70s was an era not to be missed. Those of us who experienced it as teens and in our 20s were so lucky. We knew the music was great, especially after the advent of rock FM radio permeated everywhere we went. We had the music, the musicians, affordable home stereo gear, and concerts where a ticket ranged from free to working about 3-4 hours at minimum wage. 55 years later the memories are still fresh. Front row seats at Jefferson Airplane. Standing in the pit six feat from a weaving and wobbling Jim Morrison. An intimate college auditorium with CS&N. Jimi Hendrick, packed house in Dallas, some guy passing a joint. A cop holding a door open for me so I could crash The Who playing Tommy. Falling asleep in the grass at the front of the crowd, waking up a half hour later with the crowd now stretching out in front of me, and Chuck Berry rocking and rolling to My Ding-A-Ling. Thanksgiving feast with friends just out of HS, with Alice's Restaurant playing in the background.

    The Guess Who, one of the most underrated rock and roll bands of all time. Why the hell are they not in the R&R HoF?
    Music like this is a long gone era. Thankfully I have over 500 records which I take great pains to preserve. I have burned most of them to CD's so they will most likely outlive me. When I leave this earth, someone is going to wind up with a rock and roll gold mine collection.

Because otherwise Burton would never have recorded his cover of BTO's "you ain't seen nothing yet", which is nothing short of hysterical! As well as musically lush! @@RShea-lp9wk It's been over 40 years since he was in the Beatles. I doubt that he's so small-souled as to still be riding life on that ticket. He's just a good guy.

    This was the year I ran into Ringo in lake Buena vista near Disney at the sun trust bank when I was a gardener for Disney. I saw an amazing Porsche come in the parking lot so I got off my mower watched too see what kind of person gets out. As he got closer I realized it was him or a lookalike and we had a nice conversation which ended with him giving me a ride across the street to Disney market place where I went to the employee cafeteria for lunch. What memories I have of Disney and all the people I met!

      @@RG-hf4et Burton Cumming seems to really like to perform , and puts a lot into it . I saw him in Edmonton at Rexall Place , when he was doing a " reunion " tour with Randy Bachman , and it was terrific . However , I also saw him doing a small show during K- Days , which was a free show to anyone who paid to get into the exhibition , and he put a lot into that show as well .
