One time I saw Danny Carey standing like 3 meters away from me outside a local New Zealand music venue. I thought “wow he looks familiar” then walked away. I’m so stupid.
"If I hadn't heard the record I would think he's just making this up" so bloody true, as an uneducated/lowXP/shit drummer it sounded like some random rythm
I’m gonna keep plugging him for a reaction because he just blows my mind. Francesco Paoli-the violation. Home boy was playing guitar and couldn’t get a drummer that played the songs how he wanted, so he learned how to play drums and in 2 years recorded the album agony
Funny you mention Slipknot. You know Tool’s label wanted them to sound like Slipknot, to they wrote Ticks and Leaches in that style telling them to “Suck it”...
I love Danny Carey and Tool, but when i heard that Fear Inoculum was ready like 2 years after their last album, I was so upset at first, because I wanted a new Tool sound after 13 years. But then it started to make sense why it sounded like old Tool. I hate that they were scrapping with their record label for that long. Glad they finally got through it.
He's playing a swiss triplet sticking in that one section, so that's flammed right, right, left. So the second left is at the same time as the first right
Ive seen tool four times. Twice at td garden in Boston and I was at this show. As a drummer myself and a fan of the band, it was a really spot on show.
17:45 AMAZING how good was it when he went 14/5 on the tom hat in sequence with the 4/4 guitar and Maynards 6/9 arpeggios????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUSIC!@@!!?!?!
The part you were stumped on was an inverted double I think. Might be wrong myself hah!! Sounds like it though. the doubles seem continuous between both hands but sound weird as hell. Straight 16ths inverted doubles I reckon.
Not a comprehensive rig rundown, but Vic Firth has a 3 part Artist Spot Light on Danny. Here's the link to 2/3 where he talks a bit about his kit. Enjoy. th-cam.com/video/Bb5siEiAYKs/w-d-xo.html
Reynolds, you could react to some Aquiles Priester videos. I bet you know, but anyway, he is a brazilian drummer and calls himself a octopus. I'd like to hear your opinion on him. He played on Angra in the early 2000s
Pretty fucking sweet that you got to test that VK. I would have a hard time not injecting that into every conversation ever. Also, Danny is definitely on TrT, haha, glad I'm not the only one who thought that when I first watched this. Dude looks like a fit 30 year old.
People creamed over this video and did all the reacts because there really isn't much footage like this of Danny out there, not in High Def anyway, too bad tool wasn't high on my list of bands to listen to when this album emerged
The "best" thing about this video is Danny fucking up right after your "angry" comment. No drum reaction video mentions it, but it shows he is actually human. I'd like to see more people react to his old drumcam of Triad. That thing fucking slaps.
Danny is a monster! One of the best sounding kits on the planet. But I could not get in to the new Tool album. I have no idea why. I listened to it, in it's entirety, six times. And I just felt meh about it. Curious to know if anyone else felt the same.
I'm with you on Fear Inoculum. I think most of the songs would have been great if they had just edited themselves a bit. Instead of 12 min, do it in 8. There's too much fluff.
Hardcore Drummer is just confused for 17 minutes
"Last tool album sounded like fuvking around in drop D for 13 years" bro I'm HOWLING
Danny is so far in the pocket, he's covered in lint and filthy loose change.
One time I saw Danny Carey standing like 3 meters away from me outside a local New Zealand music venue. I thought “wow he looks familiar” then walked away. I’m so stupid.
Rest in Rip
"If I hadn't heard the record I would think he's just making this up" so bloody true, as an uneducated/lowXP/shit drummer it sounded like some random rythm
Danny’s delts meant to do the flam actually
I’m gonna keep plugging him for a reaction because he just blows my mind. Francesco Paoli-the violation. Home boy was playing guitar and couldn’t get a drummer that played the songs how he wanted, so he learned how to play drums and in 2 years recorded the album agony
I didnt like Fear Inncoulum either when it first came out, but the more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it.
+1, went from not liking it to listening to it almost weekly
I went from thinking it was aight to falling asleep
I’ve watched this countless times...probably more then listening to the actual album! A lot people slate this album..though for me it’s sooo good!
Funny you mention Slipknot. You know Tool’s label wanted them to sound like Slipknot, to they wrote Ticks and Leaches in that style telling them to “Suck it”...
"pop a gibson in drop d, fart around" i'm dead!
Sir Danny Carey def micro dosing tren through his third eye chakra to maintain those delts. Blastin and cruisin down the spiral
lol
"another little drum made of electrics"
Best sound-off ever (with accent) :”We love Vic Firf... they really do make the perfect pair.”
Died laughing at “oh he’s angry.. why’s he angry?! What’s about to happen?!”
“No kicks on the choke Didn’t know it could be done” lmao so fucking true
I love Danny Carey and Tool, but when i heard that Fear Inoculum was ready like 2 years after their last album, I was so upset at first, because I wanted a new Tool sound after 13 years. But then it started to make sense why it sounded like old Tool. I hate that they were scrapping with their record label for that long. Glad they finally got through it.
BTBAM... be like 13 albums in 13 years
Almost 2 years on and hearing Creg describe Fear Inoculum as "fucking around in drop D for 13 years" still gets me hah
He's playing a swiss triplet sticking in that one section, so that's flammed right, right, left. So the second left is at the same time as the first right
Dude I shit you not, right when you said you’re going to get an ad right now, I got a notification for camping tents. Not mattresses unfortunately
Man I love how Craig keeps it real
Yeah that’s my thing with Fear Inoculum, the production is just soooo clean. In this live environment, Pneuma just hits better than on the record.
"GO TO NOLLY" Fuckin true!
Maynard gulging his own wine in the corner 😜👏🏽 🍷
“Fucking around in from d for 13 years” the most valid point I’ve ever heard
Ive seen tool four times. Twice at td garden in Boston and I was at this show. As a drummer myself and a fan of the band, it was a really spot on show.
Any chance we could get a reaction to my favourite drummer Abe Cunningham?
An octopus is practically a walking brain... they can think with their skin, it seems
He's doing swiss army triplets in the bridge section.
“I Thought it sounded like fuckin’ around in drop D… for 13 years…” 💀
17:45 AMAZING how good was it when he went 14/5 on the tom hat in sequence with the 4/4 guitar and Maynards 6/9 arpeggios????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUSIC!@@!!?!?!
Tom groove: swiss army triplets without flams orchestrated around various amount of surfaces per hand inspired by "Billy Cobham"
4 levels of batshit happening , so funny
Fun Fact: His current wife is from my small hometown in northern Michigan. He can be seen around town a couple times a year.
You sir, have just become my favourite reactor 👍
Is it sad that i know exactly who you’re mentioning when you said count dracula 💀
I predict you’re gonna love this song before I even watch it’s so good
Dude for real TOOL with Nolly!!!
Controversial take: Fear is Tool’s best album. It took me awhile but the more I listen to it, it’s just essential Tool.
Got to love Danny's blue bell
This song sounds almost exactly like Schism. I like Tool, they’re a great band and very original.
thank you creg!!! hehe i wanted this so baaaaaaaaaaaaaad
made my day dude
The part you were stumped on was an inverted double I think. Might be wrong myself hah!! Sounds like it though. the doubles seem continuous between both hands but sound weird as hell. Straight 16ths inverted doubles I reckon.
You had me at juicy shoulders
They worked four years solid, 4 hours a day, Monday through Thursday.
another day, another amazing drum video, much love xo
Tool tragic, but that was hilarious 😂
Not a comprehensive rig rundown, but Vic Firth has a 3 part Artist Spot Light on Danny. Here's the link to 2/3 where he talks a bit about his kit. Enjoy.
th-cam.com/video/Bb5siEiAYKs/w-d-xo.html
listen to his live perfomance from early 2000s playing triad
Tool army incoming. Brace yourself.
Edit: brain man has me dead lol the man really is a mathematical jesus with the sticks
I feels like he’s either doing Swiss army triplets or flam triplets in the bridge.
Most comment on the time signature(s)....or “where’s one”.....
11:56 It's a swiss army triplet without the flam in the middle R - RL - L
Dude. My mind is 🤯 wow
Should check out archspire drummer
Fuck. Finally.
You’re about to walk off set during this reaction.
Kmac's video on Tool is relevant lol.
A recommend I think you would enjoy - El Estepario Siberiano Tool the pot, playover...

Reynolds, you could react to some Aquiles Priester videos. I bet you know, but anyway, he is a brazilian drummer and calls himself a octopus. I'd like to hear your opinion on him. He played on Angra in the early 2000s

And now this
People creamed over this video and did all the reacts because there really isn't much footage like this of Danny out there, not in High Def anyway, too bad tool wasn't high on my list of bands to listen to when this album emerged
Who is the new guy you said that's good? Matt Gaskers?
Matt Garstka from Animals As Leaders.
Tool just sound like 300 different ways of playing aerials by system of a down
This comment slaps harder than tool ever will
Underrated comment
10 000 ways
@UCipSh9g2i8QHEcfgovwG_Gw hahahahahahahaha
Four Levels of Batshit - your next side project’s band name?
No clicks !!
You should watch alex fron silent planet
Can you react to Hannes Grossmann playing the song "Alter magnitudes" by Alkaloid?
The "best" thing about this video is Danny fucking up right after your "angry" comment. No drum reaction video mentions it, but it shows he is actually human.
I'd like to see more people react to his old drumcam of Triad. That thing fucking slaps.
Yikes. What a reaction........
Fucking love it. Haha.
Only Fans !! This Gramma would def pay for that !! I am inappropriately obsessed with him.
Danny is a monster! One of the best sounding kits on the planet. But I could not get in to the new Tool album. I have no idea why. I listened to it, in it's entirety, six times. And I just felt meh about it. Curious to know if anyone else felt the same.
It's the best. Give it a chance to break through. Not driving, cooking, etc. Just be with the album. Then it reveals itself...
Serious comment shock, Danny makes everything look effortless, it is effortless to him, I had a point with this comment, can someone help me here?
I'm with you on Fear Inoculum. I think most of the songs would have been great if they had just edited themselves a bit. Instead of 12 min, do it in 8. There's too much fluff.
Commenting so Craig gets money
please react to snarky puppy @craig reynolds :D
If u have to tell people u are being funny ur not.
😏😂🎭🥁
I have severe ADHD too, “scratching a hole in my jeans” 😂😂😂😂 so true, my biggest problem with this album too!
This is kick back get altered and just groove music.
This is the only good song on fear inoculum
To much bla bla you need to rec. News😂
You talk to much , listen you might learn something from the MASTER
hope he sees this king
Bit boring. Not you Craig. Tool are great live but can’t listen to them straight.
