This was a single from the Isley Brothers LP album that I bought for my boyfriend. It was my first gift to him. I was 17 years old, he was 20. We have been married now for 43 years. This song takes me right back to those wonderful days.
If you're in your teens, listen to this and take it with you . These years will come and go so very quickly and all you'll have left is the summer breeze!
A classic written by Seals and Crofts. The Isley Brothers took it to another level. Would love to hear bass and piano alone. That guitar solo is the cherry on the cake.
Ah yeah much better then the orig. Different form and function using drum and bass/jungle but DJ Aphrodite Summer breeze ( summer mix) for the life me though I cannot find who the vocalist is, even discog says nothing about the singer. I have an old MP3 (I'm sure is mislabeled) Aladdin/Aphrodite feat. Sade - Summer Breeze. I didn't hear it until early 2000s but man oh man the voice on this singer...
I first heard part 2 back in 1978 when I was 17 years old. At the time I was into Heavy Metal, Prog Rock, Hawkwind etc. Basically anything with excellent guitar playing and solos. But at that time, youth culture was full of sub-cultures so Rocekrs didn't listen to anything not in their genre. Then, I heard this. The B side of the single and it naturally blew me away. I can say that it was this track that started to open me up to apreciate all types of music if it was good.
I couldn't find words to explain why I love this song so much, untill I figured out the cool atmosphere and the lyrics especially are describing exactly what I'm aspiring for in my future : a simple life surrounded by the ones I love. The sweet summers, the daily work and then the relief to be home again, being with the love of my life, and then, our children. It may sound cheesy but this is why this song is so appealing to me
Beautiful song, I can remember when I first heard it on the radio, there were no videos back in those days, but as I listened, I could visualise every lyric that they sang. From a seventies girl ❤️
oh .tears come hearing this ,holidays with my mum and dad at the seaside and me at a disco with my sister , i was about 17 , and everything was possible ,you know what i mean ,miss my dad in the pub ,with a pint of cider /// when the summers felt wonderful oh take me back xx
Fantastic song and fantastic singer. Takes me right back to my teens, my first year at work, I was a mechanic apprentice in a garage and this was on the radio all the time. What a time capsule, thank you so much for uploading this. Paul.
Yes this song is one of my favourite but not having brought any of their albums I am so glad that TH-cam is giving me medicine that which I needed especially in the climate we are all enduring
This song always reminded me of long summer days, laying in a field of grass, watching the clouds go by while eating an ice cream, lolol. Days when there were no problems and life meant life.
Can you feel the Joy? Ooh when yur all caught up with stuff this reminds you of the simple things that fill yur soul . . . then Uncle Ernie takes yu into outer space ✨👌🏾
I love both versions, Seals and Crofts and Isley Brothers - the sound of Summer from many years ago make the years disappear in an instant; for me it's linked to the scent of which grew on the high hedges near where I lived at the time which the warmth of the sun enhanced the scent and the gentle breeze carried it everywhere - beautiful.
As a Spanish speaker I thought the lyrics said blowing trough the jazz man in my mind, which sounds great for me, now I know it's jasmine and doesn't feel the same for me but it's alright. Thanks for the lyrics.
Quite simply the best cover version of all time. No disrespect to Seals & Croft but, the Isleys took a good song and took it to a whole new level. Ernie's solo is off the chart and George Moreland's drumming is totally in sync' with what Ernie's playing.
It is a huge improvement on the original. Somewhat ironic that normally it is white artists assumed to have composed the original ( e.g Twist & Shout). Check out their 1971 album 'Givin' It Back' where they cover Lay Lady Lay and Ohio amongst others
@@robertlepper5460 Hi Robert , thanks for the tip but I have all the Isley brothers albums from 1968 up to and including Ronald's solo albums. My favourite artists of all time.
Look great version but without the ORIGINAL You wouldn’t have gotten this great version…..lol It needed the TEMPLATE first before Isley Brothers turned it into what it is……… Each has its own distinct flavour…..don’t knock the original
SO MUCH BETTER THEN SEALS AND CROFT ORIG. !! This version has that good groove and the saturation/overdrive on the guitar. Original was so lacking in colour and tone IMO. Plus, this is one of the only songs I know by the Isley Brothers that feature all them on vocals so big ups to that 👍
It's not a two-part song, it's the whole song which was cut short for radio airplay. Their record company T-Neck put the other half (the guitar solo) on the flip side of the vinyl.
That guitar sound is totally 70s! That decade had a lot of very bad things wrong with it - politically, culturally etc - but songs like Summer Breeze make up for them
The theme melody, without the vocals, was used in a quirky amateur film about 40 years ago called "Florida Fly Drive". Someone in Blackpool may remember it

Oh love, its beautiful rgds Colin..
I'm so glad!!
That's nice to hear. May your love for each other reaches many years thereafter. Godbless.
Wonderful story that bring me emotions. Thank you
Underage
Oh yes! Now that, right there, is what summer was back then. I'm 66 now but still remember that feeling.

@@aaronmcentee3694Wouldnt say better than the original. Different styles, different versions.
Superb version, beautiful guitar work. They just don’t make music like this anymore! Legends 😍😎👍
Couldn't agree more... another/ sweeter version of Seals and Crofts masterpiece
This is the best version of this song, in my opinion 😊
the guitar riff is heavenly
@@katandra8819 Also the oriental riff.

Summer 2024 and this still slaps hard! A summer isn't great until you've listened to this while chilling in the sun
Agree 💯 💕
The guitar solo on this outstanding. Epic.
E-P-I-C!
Inspired by Jimi Hendricks who was one of their early session guitarists and jammed a lot with them
I just wish the solo was repeated earlier on !
It's one of those songs that starts good and keeps getting better with the listeners age😊

It is certainly not cheesy.
Cheesier than Ricotta 😁😉
You found the best words to sum up this song, perfect actually. This takes me back to my teens, long summer wonderful days. ❤️🇬🇧
summed it up pretty good school days summer holidays
What a lovely song! Nothing complicated. Just a lovely song. Always makes me smile.

one of the greatest songs encompassing soulful genius , impeccable nimble rhythm and a guitar solo that acknowledges hendrix
Also an oriental riff.

Ellersly House Hotel Edinburgh . Nights to discoteques everynight. Greatgreat time
Yes, all the staff going out together to decompress. I did that in Cornwall. The hardest but most fun times of my life. Work hard, party hard.
Back from when summers actually had breezes and didn't feel like a furnace blowing hot wind on your face.
not really summers were a lot warmer back in the 60's
