It's by no means one of the hardest, but that's not the point, is it? 😺 It sounds great! It sounds perfect for the song; every part is there - tone, phrasing, melodic content... Feel... To me he sounds more like Robin trower than Jimi , but then I used to think that trower sounded like Jimmy, too! 😸 Hard and good are like comparing, not apples and oranges... More like apples and bricks! Hard does NOT Make something good, and good doesn't have to be hard! For example, most of bridesmaids solos and fills are nowhere near as hard as, say... A zillion others things, but HIS ALL sound great, and absolutely perfect for a song they're in, which ACTUALLY is harder to do!!!!!!!!!! .. Short form... Kudos to Ernie 😺😺😺!!!!!!!!!! I find it quite admirable that Kendrick Lamar personally flew to New Orleans to ask Ronald Isley to sample this track for his song, "I". Which is why you see Ronald in the music video. They have a mutual respect for each other even though they're generations apart.

One day back in 1973, I was babysitting for a couple that allowed me to use their stereo. Once the kids were asleep, I turned to a station playing this tune. This wasn't my transistor radio. This was a stereo consule with all the sound settings that made this music come alive. To this day, I still think of that moment in my youth & how great the guitar made me feel and move. Yeah.

Just like you, Christine, back in that day--maybe in 1975 or so, they used to have 'concert shows' on TV on Saturday nights at 10:30 thru midnight in the midwest. These guys came on and I was transfixed by Earnie Isley standing apart from the rest of the group, they wearing their matching tight white satined outfits, and Earnie in a white buckskin jacket, jamming at the end of the stage in his own world. Very special childhood memory. I cannot now play this song only once.

Just sounds as fresh in October 2022 as it did in 1974 when it hit our charts in the UK. Incredible guitar and mind-blowing vocals. Just a top 10 record of all time for me. Makes today's so called 'music' sound like absolute trash.

Ernie Isley is a great guitarist, but he was taught by the greatest guitarist! Lots of people don't know, but Jimi Hendrix was a guitarist for the Isley brothers and best friends with them and he taught Ernie when he was a kid before he died, and that's where ernie's talent comes from - is he saw all the things that Jimmy had actually invented. There's a lot of great guitars but Jimi Hendrix had things that no one else had, he actually struck fear and a lot of the huge guitarist of his time! because they couldn't do what he was doing. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Miss Jimi, he went out too young

When Mr. Hendrix was living at their mom's house Ernie was actually playing bass drum in the school band. lol Ernie, Marvin, David Townsend, Yogi Horton, and others use to practice in my basement.

Sorry, but from all the interviews I heard Hendrix never gave Ernie any formal lessons. Ernie did not even pick up the guitar until years after Hendrix left the Isley Brothers. Sure, a 12 year old Ernie listened to Hendrix practice and probably got some inspiration there, but no lessons. Love me some Hendrix, but Hendrix never played with the rhythm and soul of Ernie. Hendrix was blues, rock, classical, tripping, even psychotic on that guitar and will for ever be the Guitar King, but Hendrix never even got to hear Ernie play. Really as a musician, Ernie was blessed to grow up surrounded by his great legendary musical family, the Isley Brothers, and friends like Hendrix and Chris Jasper who was also a musical genius.

I was born in '66, so I was 8 or 9 when I FIRST heard this, via 8-track in my dad's 1966 Buick Wildcat Sport Coupe white w/red vinyl interior with Rally Sport rims with Goodyear white letters out. "CLEAN", Thanks Dad and Mom for playing, NO jamming great music throughout upbringing. We're taking care of Mom, she's fine, and I played this in the car and she sang along. The 70s, I remembered everything, I know when you are smiling and telling God, "YEAH!" Those kids loved riding into NYC or down the Jersey Turnpike to Philly for a Sunday afternoon ride, or to Atlanta for Summer or Xmas vacation. Way before Atlanta was ATL..............

Got this album in ‘75 when I snuck a listen to my uncle’s record collection. Ernie Isley is still a hero and the exact reason I play guitar today. Absolutely one if not the best album I own.
