Now, I know how great James Brown was. Then, not so much. I always knew that Al Green was unique. How could you not. But my favorite, besides the guy from The Stylistics, was Ronald Isley. It was cause of "Who's That Lady." Was there ever a voice that went with a guitar so well? I'd hear Ronald sing, or Michael Jackson sing " Got To Be There, " then Stevie Wonder's "If You Really Love Me" then Curtis Mayfield "Freddie's Dead/Superfly," top it off with Sly's" Family Affair" ...70's soul/r&b went way, way beyond Soul Train and any other connotation. I bet Seals and Croft were dam n proud to hear the Isley Brothers do "Summer Breeze."

It’s swirling around penetrating your body. You shudder and then the calmness comes over you. It’s like when you hear it you know on every song you going to get the best. That’s Ronnie Isley. Listen to his vocal range as it goes through the stratosphere. My my one of the greatest from Shout, It’s your thang, Put it in the lay away, Summer Breeze, and on and on. What a shame that they didn't respect guitar solos back in those days. they wasted most of the video on the singer and the crowd during that epic solo.

@@mandanglelow1442 ...: I know which version *most* people would rather hear at an outdoor concert... The one that *soarrrs* !!... Just look at the amazement of even the white faces in the audience... Ernie Isley's guitar playing on this version was like *Prince* before Prince... It's like the Isley's *soulllful* version of "Ohio" where Ernie is reminiscent of *Hendrix*!

th-cam.com/video/Aoo3dk1_8LY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-th7_R6RsnAuBGhl (11:00) -- "Ohio" -- Isley Brothers. But of course major respect goes to Neil Young for writing the original & CSNY for first performing it.

that's so awesome, one of my favorite songs and video now! that is equivalent to watching some jimi hendrix, funkadelic, eddie hazel, countless like george guke, Herbie hancock, others not to mention. Ernie Iseley in my top 3 great rhythm and lead guitarist. He's awesome period on the guitar and coming from a musical family is only fitting. Brother Marvin bass player also played the role on the bass on those songs in the 70-80"s from what I know. Give all of them props period. Badd brothers hands down.

Music !!! I Was playing Ernie's licks when I was 11 years old in '74 lol... And Who's That Lady,,, damn !!! Loved every lick!!! I'd play it over and over trying to nail the licks... Bought a crybaby with my paper route money, and then a Fuzz ;) I found harmonic feedback!!! Then I learned the 'sweet spot' and feedback for days!!!

When I was young, I became a fan of the fender Stratocaster because of Ernie Isley. His power and tone is insane. Then when I was introduced to Jimi Hendrix by my uncle, I see why. Ernie HAS HIS OWN sound! Funny after all that I picked up the bass @ 16. But still love the strat AND Ernie. He deserves more recognition!😌🎶🎸❤️👍🏾
