  • In today's video I explain how I brought this 10 year old Kia Forte into the modern day by adding all of the creature comforts a simple guy like me could need. The mod list includes Full LED Retrofit, HID headlights, Paddle Shifters, Android Media Player, Premium Sound Experience via Upgrade and a modernized look that keeps people asking, "what kind of car is that?"

    I like it a lot. I just got a 2016 base model forte and I can't wait to start fixing it up. Yours is pretty badass so props to you man. Keep it up. 🤘🏽

    I currently own a 2010 kia forte ex. And while I want a newer car, trying to find something better than it has been hard. Especially cheap.
    But the amount of issues to fix with my forte is enough for a big down-payment.
    But man have I loved and it thought about tuning it. If you can here over the knocking of the engine, it revs nice and has good speed. A hidden gem of it's year if you ask me.

      Sorry to hear about your engine problems. That's always been in the back of my mind, but so far so good at 117k

    • @spencerandmainzwithcoffee
      @spencerandmainzwithcoffee ปีที่แล้ว

      @zerializing I bought mine knocking at 115k. Now at 156k and still the same sound. I've read that it's hit or miss with these engines.
      Videos and articles like these, though, have me wanting to restore mine and maybe possibly modify it.
      Awesome build btw.

    I felt this entirely. My first car was a ‘12 Chevy Sonic 1.8l and there was next to nothing in the aftermarket for it since it was the base model and not the 1.4 turbo then I got a ‘17 gti and there was WAY TOO much to choose from. Now I have a ‘17 Kia Forte Lx and even tho I don’t like how small the market is for them I do like that when u can find parts it’s relatively cheap and easy to build on

    Royal purple oil is the best for this cat in my opinion idk why but it does great in these cars

    • @zerializing
      @zerializing  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I personally use mobil 1 full synthetic with either a mobil 1 or k&n filter and change the oil every 3-4k miles. Royal purple is a good brand though..

    This is my car at 153k miles - currently have a low oil issue so decided I’d learn the ins and outs. Bought some tools - not going to fix the issue but will leave it to a professional - so that way in the once it’s fixed I’ll learn ho to fix car

      I've always planned to build an engine for this car should the inevitable happen.. This ol' girl just needs to last a few more years for me to buy a house with a big enough garage to support my hobbies.

    • @Dankdalorde
      @Dankdalorde 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the engine was fked - crankshaft didn’t move and had a dead engine. Bought a new one since it’s cheaper for me at the moment to get an engine than buy a new car with financing (lost my job but have some money saved up for emergencies). Before this nonsense, I got new brakes and rotors, changed the transmission fluid, shocks, and tie rods. So far no issues

    • @zerializing
      @zerializing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not too bad,
      Wheels and tires 1200ish
      CF Hood 900 plus tax and shipping
      Ultra Racing braces and bars maybe like 600 all together and I need a few more of their pieces.
      The lip kit cost 50 from the junkyard but about 600 to paint
      Roadruns Grill 300
      Headlights 300 but they are like 500 most times I see them now
      Plus an HID kit that was 200.
      Tails 350.
      Fogs like 60.
      Paddle shifters maybe 140 all in. Includes the paddleshifters and clockspring.
      The android unit was about 400 but I don't thing you can find them anymore
      Exhaust 350
      Hella horns 60
      Brakes all 4 corners around 300
      Coilovers around 700 but I got a discount from k5optimastore
      Cold air intake 150
      Door speakers were 300
      I made a custom harness throughout the car materials for that were around 80
      The Skar Audio kit was 350
      The line output converter was 100
      The Alpine amp for the door speakers was 200.
      The vinyl wrap was about 200 I had the roof professionally done for 200
      I did the trunk myself and there are flaws lol.
      There is a carbon fiber wing I don't mention in the vid that was 200.
      LED bulbs maybe 100 for all interior and exterior excluding the switchbacks which alone were 60
      I have K&N filters for everything including cabin air they were around 120 all together.
      Tint all around 250
      Seats from Junkyard 200 for the full interior
      And I have miscellaneous things. Tuner lugs, dress up hardware, and other odds and ends call that like 300ish but probably more.

    • @zerializing

      Actually just looking at that list I cant believe I spent 9000 after the cost of the car. Kind of sad lol but, I do love this car. A lot of those things can be considered maintenance or improvements over OEM, but still crazy.

    • @zerializing
      @zerializing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2.0.. And I know about the historically bad rod bearings and rod knock stories but, some are the exception.. I live in Vegas, it been through 7 downright miserable summers, I've had zero drivetrain issues. I've done maintenance. Brakes, Belt, Hoses, Tires, Fluids, Batteries.. It's never left me stranded. The only repair I've performed outside of maintenance was a fuel pump and not because the pump itself was dead but because a nipple on the tophat was leaking and the entire assembly was similar priced to the individual part. I've put almost 70k miles on it and bought it used with 60k miles. Still drives and sounds like the day I brought it home.

      It's just a stock paddle shifter set and the back housing for the wheel and the clockspring for a model with paddles. I think all in all it was like 250 for all the parts and my time.

      @@TheDeletedUserOG honestly bought it on aliexpress like 4 years ago.. Wasn't expecting much at the time and it took so long to get, I forgot I ordered it.. What came was a pretty much plug and play unit.. The only complaint was that I had a cord you had to plug into for audio input.. I took the connector off of the back of the radio and spliced in a 3.5mm female connector behind the dash so that the wires weren't visible. This unfortunately disabled my front aux port but I just use bluetooth if I want to listen to music from my phone. Since having this unit I haven't wanted or needed to do that. I have Wifi on the unit so I can listen to anything from anywhere and I can hook up external storage to it as well.. It's pretty good.
