Police chases have never felt as aggressive and exciting in any Driver/GTA since this classic. Like playing through a 70's action movie

The police was absolutely ruthless in this game, BUT, after a while you did learn some tricks on how to maneuver through traffic (switch lanes just before the cop behind you reaches a car, etc) to quickly lose 'em. Still, GTA chaces didn't even come close to the intensity and difficulty level of those in Driver 1 / 2.
Can you imagine a straight up remaster? New textures, lighting etc..

The most memorable part of this game will always be the hub cap flying off going around a corner.
I can't belive the stuff this game has that many games with cars don't even today. Hud caps that pop off from to hard of a turn, breakable signs some games are still static. A lot of games barely have car damage. This game shows a lot of car damage physics. It's amazing the amount of work that gets put into games back then compared to now.

PyramidHead138 haahahha yeah, i got so frustrated that i couldn't make it out of the first stage, but now i can do it pretty quick & it's a stage i enjoy... but the last stage? even using the full health cheat it was near impossible

First car game I ever played (born in 96) & still love it today. Our disc was corrupt though so we could only do the training & Take a Ride in San Fran & Miami after a while. buying a new one though! Inspired my interest in cars & still mad about them today. Loved all the damage features, the sounds of the car.. ah memories!

also born in 93 and I played it when it first came out. uncle had a Playstation and this was the first game I ever played on it. always had to have him or my mom beat the tutorial. after a couple years I could do it on my own once they told me hit x and o at the start and then when you stop square and triangle. right off the bat knock out 4.

The cut scenes were revolutionary for it's time and the game play physics still have me playing Driver to this day.

Boy this takes me back,way back.i was in my twenties when this game came out.now I'm almost 50 and I still love this game.
One thing I liked was swerving through traffic in the hopes that the pursuing cops would hit into them, and then hearing the car "dying" (when the siren winds down).

Strange how a simple still image or a sound effect can instantly put you into a time machine and send you back 20 years. The last time I saw the opening credits and heard the sound FX of the crashes, I was having the raddest times with my best friend. FFWD to today, and he is no longer around. Man, this hit me way too hard.

Anyone else one of them late 90’s kids who we’re too young to understand this at the time, just put it on and played for hours, the nostalgia this brings is unreal. It looked like a different world back then, I remember that load screen and map like it was yesterday.. the graphics differences compared to kids on gta 5 these days is crazy... Born in 98’, this, vice city, spyro, mortal kombat and San Andreas were my childhood

Bought this as soon as it came out lol. I was underage but the guy sold it to me at the shop. I was so happy to get Driver on PS1. £39.99 and all saved just for this game. I have never been exited for a game as for Driver. Great memories and Driver 2 kept that alive.

This is pure nostalgie!! I played this game every night with my dad before I go to bed. Sometimes I just drove around and imagined how I will drive in the future when I get my license 😊 stopped at every stop sign and parked the car in a parking lot.... That was fun. The time flies. I played this game when I was maybe 9, this was for 16 years... It's so funny but sad at the same time. Thanks for sharing this video 😊

What a majestic game. Awesome story, awesome free roaming mode, awesome music, and great graphics and gameplay. A masterpiece. Police chasing were so intense and had a lot of thrill. Spent countless hours on this game in those days. Who missed the late 90s missed the greatest era of videogames

This and destruction derby were the best. I remember just being a newlywed and my now ex-wife begging me to come to bed while wearing her baby doll and me just trying one more time ... in the game. Finally when passing the stage I would looked back at my bed and she was already passed out. 😂. Yeah but joke aside, don’t follow my example, please.

I played this game nonstop when I was 10. Memories.
There's too much emphasis on realistic graphics these days.
But there's no substitute for good ol' game play though. This had it in bucket loads, although those cops could be a nightmare at times - especially later on in the game haha.

Survival was he best. Never experienced a game with such great fun physics and true road feel. The wheel spin and hard steer lock button gave you more control and driving finesse than any other game. The super soft suspension and jumping hills were great. The super aggro cops ridiculous kamikaze in there overpowered cars. And perfect for sharing as your go rarely lasted more than a minute!

I loved this game. Spent countless nights on it. Passed it through multiple times and got bonus english city. Dont remember the name, but the car was amazing. Was frustrated of max speed 87mph of the first car. Loved the physics. The best ever. Dreamed of open world. Wanted to leave the car amd freely walk. It touched my imagination so much
