RBI since 2003 has released detailed reports on why OPS is unsustainable and will leave 0 money for welfare and development in just 2 decades. You've asked if you are happy being a government servant? So I'll answer, yes I am happy and i have been happy since i joined. I passed on the opportunity to be Gazetted Officer in CAG in another state and chose to stay in home city. I joined as a group C employee in a cadre(autonomous body) where there is no direct entries above my rectt. level. I enjoy the work work I do partially thanks to my 1st promotion 2 years ago after putting in a service of 4 years. The value that that my officers give me is because of my ability to get them out of legal troubles. And in return, i find my duties fairly accomodative yet intellectually challenging. I cannot be transferred out of my home state for lack of offices outside. I agree with your views on govt job. One should do it only if he is not money minded and seek free time to do something fulfilling on the side.
Tax is paid by both government employees as well as private sector employees but pension contribution by government is only for government employees. No additional benefits are given to tax payers. Atleast some priority services should be offered to tax payers.

Sir please go and read about how much lumpsump employee will get? In NPS employee was getting 60% of accumulated funds as lumpsump at retirement and rest 40% was given as pension. But now employee will get just 10% as lumpsump and rest 90% will be given as pension which means we won't even get their own contributed money fully at the time of retirement. They will give pension from our own money. Govt has nothing to lose in it, they are making fool of employees.

NPS could have worked if various governments had allowed compounding to take effect. If they had made it so that nobody older than 30 years could join entry-level government jobs, then over thirty years of regular service an individual could have created an handsome corpus fund. Right now many state government employees have 5-10 years regular service, therefore corpus is very little.

As for monopoly, monopolies are indeed harmful but India is still far from it, infact the earnings of listed mid/smallcap companies have I cresed much faster than the large cap ones in the 4 years since pandemic. As for your monopoly comment, I am also invested in that sector and I know the growth. However what needs to be pointed out that monopolies do not take over in one year. The movements are gradual. You will see monopolies will sometimes acquire the small companies and let them run on their own (if they are profitable) as small businesses have at times some inherent tax advantages, govt subsidies. Some times giants buy up small companies in the name of shell companies that are set up by them. It has happened in the US for long enough to study the trends.
Taxpayers must at least get pension and health insurance.

In NPS employee was getting 60% of accumulated funds as lumpsump at retirement and rest 40% was given as pension. But now employee will get just 10% as lumpsump and rest 90% will be given as pension which means we won't even get their own contributed money fully at the time of retirement. They will give pension from our own money. Govt has nothing to lose in it, they are making fool of employees.
In NPS , you can still choose to get 0-60% as lump sum and remaining can be converted into an annuity
plan.

NPS could have worked if various governments had allowed compounding to take effect. If they had made it so that nobody older than 30 years could join entry-level government jobs, then over thirty years of regular service an individual could have created an handsome corpus fund. Right now many state government employees have 5-10 years regular service, therefore corpus is very little.
