Sheeeeesssshhh the thematic development in this piece was really high quality 👀🤘 Thank you to all of those who have reminded me to get back to listenign to beatbox artists!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REACTING TO DEN!!! I was one of the bunch of people who requested DEN in your previous videos and I really wanted to know your opinion about this specific track from your point of view. Thanks a lot Tony, seriously!!!!!
Den is like new age hip hop in beatboxing, his compositions are based around his vocals which is unique! need more beatboxing videos, watch Dlow and Codfishs’ 2018 and 2019 GBB solo compilations!!! will not disappoint
The production quality was so high because it was a submission into a competition wherein the rules were slightly looser in regards to audio and video editing. Cant add much to audio but reverb but the video helps the experience so much
4:30 that is indeed an inward sound. The reason beatboxers can go forever without running out of breath is because we cycle between inward and outward sounds all the time. The high vocals during the drops are also inward
The thing I find so impressive is how good he is at hitting the notes cuz it’s crazy hard to be so spot on especially with those liprolls 10:42 and the high notes he’s hitting while you see him moving the mic to his nose are inwards 4:44 Love your analysis videos and the way you see it from a drummer’s perspective ❤
all beatboxers have tones of talent, but DEN fits into the class of beatboxers that are also great songwriters: D-low, River, Show-Go are all apart of that class
@@DrumRollTonyReacts unfortunately I gotta disagree with how you worded that, although i know the message youre trying to send is that saying people have "talent" sort of downplays the amount of work they put in to get to where they are. The part I disagree with, is that talent doesnt exist. Obviously they still have to put the work in, but the talent lies in how quickly they can get a grasp on things. this is where you gets monsters like den, they put their whole heart and soul into it, and theyre able to not only make it to the pinnacle, but take it to another level because they are gifted as well.
@@AllegroFPS You can disagree, feel free. I have like 20+ years of experience teaching beginning musicians on their instrument. Talent exists there for a few weeks. Natural approach etc. Then it's practice
@@DrumRollTonyReacts that's fine if that's your opinion/experience, I'm still gonna disagree. I know kats that work a lot harder than I do and aren't as good as me, and I know kats that work less hard and are better than me. Of course there are the obvious musicians who work really hard and get really really good. I'm just saying everyone has a different learning pace, and the ones that are faster are what I consider taleneted
I'll say I watch a ton of beatbox reacts, not many pick up on the different bass Den uses in that last part. The "cookie monster" as you called it. Only pro beatboxers tend to notice it. So props to you! Very attentive ❤
Also, the BBU stood apart from other beatbox competitions in that the rounds were done through video submission like this one, however the same rules still applied: only reverb was allowed, but routines had to be something that the beatboxer could perform LIVE by themselves. BBU also was the first to offer a substantial cash prize, and we wound up getting some of the absolute best in modern beatbox in terms of replay-ability and talent ever. Den's "Moments I Had" in the competition is regarded as one of the top beatbox songs ever created; his musicality is off the charts.
Trung bao is one of my favourite beatboxers and I think you'd like him too. Complex flows, many different sounds and entertaining af. Love your vids, keep it up.
This is exactly the video I wanted to watch from your channel, dude. Thank you! Hiss and Den's BBU participations were what got me into beatbox music once again and I love to watch people appreciate how cool beatbox really is
5:00 that low to high this is all by inhaling. So this bass is done by inhaling vibrating in the throat (inward bass) and the flosetto is also done by inhaling so he just flips back and forth to both. Very difficult technique. 7:50 that im pretty sure is vibration bass but at a higher octave. Vibration bass is a mixture between straining your voice and throat bass. It is not harmful to your voice as long as you don’t over-do it when first learning.
GREAT REACTION! Also, ask and you shall receive. The Fairy Voice Mother did this same track ( th-cam.com/video/KHi6ssji38Q/w-d-xo.html ), and she does some of the best non-pro beatboxer analyses on the platform in terms of anatomy and human ability. She's really good at duplicating new sounds as well; I love the way she explains what's going on here:
Agreed, one of the most knowledgeable I've come across, beatboxers are surprised when she explains how they do stuff. Like they cant put it into words and she can. She also has a crazy good voice.
To put you in context Tony the bbu is an innovative competition in terms of its format, since not only were they going to be allowed to record their rounds in an online format, but they were also given a certain freedom that had not been given until then, such as cutting the track (as long as the track is single layer, otherwise it would be disqualified) and also the participants were given the freedom to edit their videos as if they were music videos, since also the scoring format for the battle was going to take into account the quality of audio and video. So far it is the only competition that has done this format, at this moment there is another competition that tries to do something similar to the bbu, but it is not doing very well... It would really be very interesting for you to react to these types of videos from the BBU. Here below I leave you some recommendations. all of the #BBU videos were meant to showcase their beatboxing, but also to elevate the game a bit with the video production. They were allowed minimal mastering of the audio and judged for that but also the video production, theming, and presentation. The whole thing was created to push the genre forward. Some really special music and videos came out of it, including Den's.
Why would a musician react to another musician pausing every ten seconds? Imagine putting Led Zeppelin or Rush or anything and pausing every ten seconds to comment sth. Listen to it in a go, and then go back and comment on it. It's quite frustrating and you lose all the song's momentum
Glad to see your still keeping up with the beatbox community! Your watching so many of my favorite ones too and you've only scratched the surface! I do have a recommendation for you and its the only beatbox song I've added to my music playlist, its called Assassin by B-Art. It only came out about a month ago and its a really underrated. Hope you check it out and enjoy!
Idk what the other guy was talking about but in this particular competition (bbu) editing is a 100% allowed. All of the sounds are still from the beatboxers but again editing was allowed in this competition. I think the rules were kinda along the lines of editing being ok as long as the audio doesn’t sound obviously fake and still being physically possible. Most people however in this competition didn’t add much editing.
Man you don't have to worry about pausing bbx videos. We appreciate every single one of your words. You can pause whenever you want and whatever you feel like. That is way better than just showing fake facial expressions. Dont worry man
So usually beatbox videos aren’t this clean, or highly produced. This was for a competition called BBU 22, where they were allowed to use reverb and a few other effects as you noted and the video gave them points in the battle as well. The video usually doesn’t matter, usually just the sound.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts I was sure i sent you it but my reply dissapeared. There are two of your fellow reactors who are deep into how the voice and surrounding tissue work to form vocals who both reacted to this video: The Vocalyst and The Fairy Voice Mother. I suggest you watch their vids off-cam, hoping you find the info you're looking for. TFVM's video was more analytical imho, but TV 's video was really enjoyable to watch because she was so taken aback with the beatboxing being so far beyond her expectation. Enjoy!
