Another reason I keep saying this guys my fav bbx reactor I’ve ever seen. Genuine appreciation and understanding. It’s great. Just wish I could get into some of his other content as much

The new format is great I think! Also D-low said he changed his vote to Inertia at the last second so the judging was much closer than it might seem at first.
Yea he was plugging his ear to hear himself better, the live show of the GBB 2021 had a lot of monitor and feedback issues so you can sometimes see these artists doing what they can to deal with it. these videos are adjusted to fix those feedback issues they had so you cant really tell but they still did an amazing job.
I was so excited to not only see another beatbox reaction but also to see how long the video was!! Very good analysis, and I'd say that not all the judges are as rhythmically intelligent as you so maybe they didn't catch on to how difficult that round was, but another aspect to it that doesn't come through the video audio is how powerful inertia is... he's a super loud beatboxer and one of the only beatboxers capable of hitting true sub bass so it shakes your chest and leaves a lasting impression beyond the rymthical patterns. Also the X means the judge wanted and overtime, but there are no overtime rounds in this even so he was essentially throwing away his vote
@@felixschneider1398 they would have had to do a revote because they weren't allowing overtime rounds in this event... Or maybe they would have bent the rules but I don't think so
I am pretty sure the judges are capable of understanding the complexity and techniques but there are a bunch of factors that lead them to their decisions. I really started digging into the beatbox battle scene right before that event and back then I was like "what the hell, how can Helium lose this?" But the more you watch and deeper you dive into the rabbit hole the better you'll become at understanding and anticipating the judges decisions.
@@jonasgold4745 I've been beatboxing for 5-6 years and was watching beatbox for 3-4 years before that... so I'm not sure if you're trying to educate me or what the deal is here.... I will reiterate and say that beatboxers like inertia wouldn't recognize the difficulty of the off beat timing signatures that helium does, because that's not what they practice. P4tenkata for sure would recognize it, alem, colaps, skiller, and other beatboxers who's passion is percussion would be more familiar and more impressed by odd timing. In contrast beatboxers who don't do inward bass variations wouldn't be the best judges of inertia either, because it's not what they're familiar with.

i know what you are meaning with "i hate those fake reactions", thats why i like to watch your more analytic reaction videos... But this "fake reaction guy" is actual a legend in the beatbox scene. And he`s not faking, he`s really THAT crazy & extroverted^^. His name is BBK and he is in the scene for over a decade. And his reactions are became a meme over the years, that`s why the camera guys point the cam at him nowerdays xD So let`s just enjoy this as just funny reactions, because you will see him in a lot of the beatbox battles videos ;-)
So dude is the meme guy that the camera pans to. LOL ok... even more reason to ham it up. Not organic at all. Cool that he is a legend. That stuff just makes me LOL, tis all.
Love the longer videos, because it allows you to more fully break down what's happening musically. Hadn't seen this prior to your video, and it was shockingly impressive to witness. Definitely going to have to check out more from both of these guys.
When a judge crosses their arms it means a tie, calling for overtime. Which is funny because the judges were specifically asked not to call for overtime at this event because their simply wasn't enough time for extra rounds, but he just felt that strongly that they were even.
12:00 We'd call that simply an inward bass variation. More specifically high pitch inward bass. He's changing the pitch of his inward bass and the shape of his mouth to create that descending and ascending effect.
23:00 Inertia is using vibration bass, a sound with multiple layers which causes it to at times, sound off time or sloppy due to the nature of the sound. Inertia himself isn't always on time compared to Helium (I think this much is obvious with how different their drum sounds hit while performing).
The nature of the sound isn't really the problem, sure it's hard to control but inertia's control over it is really good. It's just that in this moment his timing was off
The nature of the sound is not the problem, he was just off. A variant of his sound is enels "electric" base (feel my base-enel), and there you can see, it can be controlled to a ridiculous amount. This time inertia was just a tad off, it happens to the best..
KEEP IT UP!!! I've told you this, but it's always soooooo enjoyable listening to your opinion about all these beatbox videos because you are experienced about drumming, and you know perfectly what you are talking about. I may be mistaken, but as I understand what you were asking at 22:15 how King Inertia is doing it: The 16th notes are done with the tongue which is just a quick nananananana. Kick and snare are done with the lips. The kick is a basic B-kick which even you can probably do. Snare sounds like a quick spit-snare where he presses his lips together hard and pushes air from the mouth outwards. The bass-sound is done with your false-vocal chords. Could be inwards-bass since that's his specialty, but to me it sounds an outward breath throat-growl (not sure what the name is)
You got it right. Although the bass he's doing in that segment is called vibration bass ( outwards as you said) and has two tones. The deep tone is called the root, but I don't remember what the high pitch tone is called.
@@ilesalmo7724 Well technically I did said the name already because the root tone + the hight pitch tone is a single technique called vibration bass. I was just trying to break it down further. Although In the beatbox scene we don't give names to the 2 pitches that make up vibration bass. I think that was something I learned (but don't fully remember) from mongolian/bass singing theory.
