  • Enjoy my first impressions of the Range Technology AFM/DFM disabler! At first I did not think this was a product I needed... however after using it on my truck, I can tell you it makes a huge difference. This thing is awesome.

    I've been using a disabler (just another brand and cheaper than the Range) on my 23' V6 Blazer and just the piece of mind keeping all 6 cylinders going and not deactivating them for whatever reason is worth it to me. Plus I've heard it can also prolong lifter failures and the engine burning oil eventually. Changing oil every 5k miles helps as well.

    • @limitedslipautomotive
      @limitedslipautomotive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is exactly my logic. Nothing has been proven with these, but it seems like eliminating the use of a system that causes lifter failure and oil consumption has to be a positive.

      @@limitedslipautomotive No question about that! $100 for a disabler now is still way cheaper than new lifters and having to keep an eye on your oil level like a hawk in the future!

    Federal regulations is what causes all of this, GM and the other companies have to comply. Ford went the turbo route which can have its own problems, gm went the afm/dfm route.

    Did this a week ago. I bought a v8 not a 4 or 6 cylinder. Now it’s a v8. Noticed the issue once I swapped out the exhaust. Wanted to get a pulsar LT but didn’t want to down over 500 and one shot. Maybe eventually definitely worth it down the road for all the features you get including DFM delete

      I have a 2024 Silverado and didn’t think it ever went into DFM until I had the exhaust flapper cut out. Now I hear it all the time due to a slight drone in the exhaust.

      Update* couple months back I ended up purchasing arranged technology AFM/DFM disabler for my 21 Silverado. It has been working perfectly. Cheaper alternative if you’re just trying to disable the AFM:DFM system.

    I have a 2020 Trail Boss and I've ordered the disabler. Does it get rid of the auto engine stop crap? So freaking annoying, shuts down almost every time I stop at a light and occasionally lunges forward when I let off the brake pedal. It almost caused me to rear end someone in the drive thru yesterday. Love the truck but DFM is a dumbass design

      A very good friend had a F150 with the cam phasers and had a serious problem and it wouldn't run. Took it to the dealer (out of warranty) and they wouldn't cover ANYTHING! It cost him over $10K to get the engine fixed and back. Two weeks later he had a brand new GMC Sierra in his driveway. He was a Ford guy for over 30 years, but no more Fords for him.

      Ford 5.0 is a great truck but it pulls less than their turbo 6cyl trucks. Chevy has a better tow capacity.

    Has anyone gotten their warranty voided for having the range AFM?

      I haven’t had an warranty issues, but it seems to vary from dealer to dealer. The service manager at my dealership just told me to take it out if I ever bring it in for warranty
