Aww snap! Love this. Im getting 2 for my 22 Sierra, 69.9 bed
They are extremely handy, great addition to the truck!
love the views! I have the, shorter, Swift Grey model and it's been the best thing I've ever purchased as well. great video bro
Thank you!!
6" lift and 35s for her!!!!!
Wow, that interior is so lush!
The 90's and 00's GM interiors are far superior to anything they make these days... Comfort wise.
Nice buy bro! 1996 was actually built to last! 🤙
My buddies dad had one that went 430,000 on original motor and trans....
Nice! That’s how it should be a true truck. I have a 2019 5.3L custom double cab with the good old 6 speed. Just hit 40,000 miles on her. About to change the fluid and filter for transmission, rear diff fluid as well.
Whoa! Vintage roller.
We're livin in the good ol' days now!
I love it! Address a few issues and make it mechanically sound then sky it! Lol
Part of me wants her to be a grandpa truck, part of me wants her on a 10" lift...
@limitedslipautomotive 👊, either way works! Lol. I'm 59 and have always had a lifted truck. Currently I have a 2017 Silverado with a 6" lift on 35s but soon going up! Hopefully will have at least 38s in the spring. I have been slowly stocking up on parts. Kryptonite front end, lunchbox locker on front and regearing to 410s. Thanks for the reply! PS; I'll be watching your build, whichever you choose
Hell yeah, great choice
I'm excited for this thing!
I had to swap out my rear pads for ebc brand. The stock rear just wasn’t seating into the rotor. Maybe try new pads on the front. My front is just fine with the oem. I also have D606 mt 21 tires and ktech suspension, so you can see I am quite a bit into this bike. With those changes, its really quite decent. Just a little low on power. There is certainly no where you can’t go on this bike. Just don’t ride on a highway and expect to pass someone at beyond 65 mph. I have a speedo correction module, so I know my speed is dead nits on. Stock, it reads significantly faster than actual.
Definitely upgrading exhaust, tires, and possibly suspension before next season. Got some decent weather yesterday and was able to ride luckily! You are right about the speedo, mine seems to run 2mph faster than actual.
Are you driving in normal mode 2 wheel drive? I have a 23 RST going down hill on my driveway when cold first drive of the day sounds like a dry breck pad, maybe upgrade pads. This is what i was thinking. Also did you try and put some grease in the axel that the seal is coming out?
Yes in 2wd. Sound was coming from original AcDelco pads and continued after being replaced with brand new AcDelco pads. I will pull that axle to inspect retaining clip and grease during.
Are you driving in normal mode 2 wheel drive? I have a 23 RST going down hill on my driveway when cold first drive of the day sounds like a dry breck pad, maybe upgrade pads. This is what i was thinking.
Are you going down hill, mine does that going down my driveway steep hill. Thats it.
Sounds like wind noise from the underneath. Increase speed will go away. Or bad front wheel bearings??
Definitely not wind noise, wheel bearings seemed just fine on the lift, and don't make any sound on the highway.
I have the same truck same year my truck makes the noise with barely 40k miles but I haven’t really looked into it
Speculation- could it be something getting caught in the wind? Like fender liner or skid plate. Maybe also check the radiator shutters (that close around 30mph)
It only happens between 10-15mph and only when turning so I don't think a wind noise. This truck doesn't have the active radiator shutters either... Thanks for the suggestions though! I'm really leanin towards brakes.
Different weird noise- at 130k the idler pulley started whining, quick easy fix.
what wheel and tire setup do you have on this truck? Perfect size + perfect amount of wheel poke.
This truck was running Goodyear Wrangler Ultra Terrain (285/65/20) tires on 20x10 0 offset MotoMetal MO970 wheels.
That’s why I bought an extended warranty for my AT4X. Since I bought it used. Also as a dealer tech for a different brand. I can say stuff like this can be a nightmare. If they had it that long that tech definitely wasn’t getting paid 90% of that time.
Fairly certain it sat there for the fist week without being looked at. I got impatient but figure I'll take her back just in case its a warranty issue. She's still covered for another 5,000 miles.
This what scares me about buying one , they’re so unpredictable
Up till now she's been perfect... At least I can still drive and use the truck, just want the dang sound gone!
@ understandable , I wanted to ask you bou the transition from the 4 inch lift to to the 6 , why the change ?
@davidolla9148 the 4” ReadyLift kit was really just a glorified leveling kit, suspension geometry in the front was maxed out. I decided I’m keeping the truck for a while and wanted to have the suspension done right. The BDS kit returns everything to factory angles hopefully making her more reliable in the long run.
@@limitedslipautomotive 🤝🏾gotchu
Why in the world were you in 4 low
Does it come with blind spot monitoring
If your truck was originally equipped with blind spot monitoring it will maintain the function. If it did not from the factory, these do not add it.
You forgot your phone mount and antenna
You are right 🤦♂️ Ronin Factory antenna, BulletPoint Rubigrid phone mount!
How do u turn on the spot light for the mirror
First select either the left or right mirror on your mirror adjustment buttons. Next, on the adjustment d-pad push left, left, right, right to activate the module. You will hear two beeps. From there, pushing the right button on the adjustment d-pad will turn the spot lights on and off.
I think I’ll buy one but I’ll pop a hole the middle were that bolt is in the dash and use that easy peasy nothing permanent
Did u end up doing this ?
@ not yet
I wish they would fold and unfold when u locked and unlocked your truck and have to be manually done.
That would be an awesome feature.. I wonder if they could add that to their wireless module?

What has it been like driving in winter for rust ? I really wanna get a trail boss . I don’t wanna drive it in the winter and ruin it though
Rust is typically a result of salt / magnesium chloride being used to treat the roads for ice. Where I live, these methods are minimally used so I am not seeing any major issues. The frame has the standard surface rust, but I try to wash my truck at least once a week. Might be a different story in Michigan or similar areas, where are you at?
@ I’m in Canada Ontario They salt a lot here I have a winter beater I use in winter but iv wanted a trail boss for 2 years now but I’d hate to rust a new truck and if I don’t drive it in winter then I feel it’s a waste only using it half a year lol
@@brad6938get it undercoated with Krown Rustproofing or Fluid Film. There's places that are authorized to use Krown and Fluid Film just do a Google search. You won't have any rust if you get it sprayed every year.
I’ve had my 6.2 custom trail boss for 7500 miles and have needed two alignments already…
Ya... These GM front ends are notoriously easy to throw out.
It looks like money well spent. While I'm here, does your truck have a rear locker? Mine (2018 F150 STX supercrew 4x4) doesn't have lockers. Once my truck is paid for, Auburn Select-a-locks front and rear are my first big mods. With the payment taking up almost all of my hobby money, Lasfit mats are the only thing I've done so far.
This truck has a G80 rear locker. It’s “automatic”, when it senses a significant speed differential in the rear wheels it engages.
Thanks for the help ab to try it my self
Good luck!
you can buy the passenger side mirror glass with the spot mirror, I changed mine out
so 4 years later, do you still own truck and any new update with range? Did your truck ever have any issues regarding DFM even though you had range installed?
Never had any issues with the 2019 truck while I owned it. I traded it in for a brand new 2021 with the AFM system, and to this day am using the same chip as in this video. 55k miles on my 2021 now with 0 issues related to the AFM system.
Love your content man. I got a 24 trail boss and I’ve watched almost every video since you bought the truck.
Thank you for the support!!
That's weird I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 5.3 work truck and the dealer told me GM ran out of the computer chips that year and they didn't come with the AFM????
I have a 22 rst and don’t have afm. Like you said no chips.
You are correct. There were some trucks made during the covid shutdowns that came with the mechanical equipment for AFM/DFM but not the chips required to make it operate. If your truck does not have this system it will be noted on the window sticker. My truck is equipped with the chips that make the AFM functional.
@@limitedslipautomotive 👍🏼
My 2022 refresh rst does not have dfm. I ordered it in march of 2022. I also have the 5.3.
Nice video! I have the 2021, bought when first available, and still love it. I have a lot done to mine, you can ride it hard off-road, (With a few tweaks), one day and cruise around town the next. The front brake line bugged me and if it bugs you, you can loosen the banjo bolt off the master cylinder just enough to move it, rotate it down until the brake line doesn't block the dash. It doesn't take much. Mine has been this way for a long time and zero issues with operation and suspension movement. Looking forward to some more 300L content. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the support! Itching to ride more and make more videos, but it was -6 out here this morning. Hoping to haul her down to the desert at some point to get more riding in! What mods have you done to yours?
@@limitedslipautomotive The two things that made the biggest difference were suspension and tires. There are quite a few options for both. I went with the full Race Tech suspension setup, sprung and valved for my weight and riding style. I have the rear shock with remote reservoir, high/low speed compression and rebound; front fork kit with Gold Valves. Some say this is overkill on this bike but not for me, it was well worth it. I've tried a few different sets of tires. The Dunlop D606 and Pirelli MT21 were a great overall combo, they wore quick, (Depends on amount of road Miles), and got quite loud as they did. Last season I put on the Motoz Tractionator Enduro I/T in the rear, and the Motoz Tractionator Enduro S/T in the front. The front is a 90/100/21 "Fatty", I love this combo and will stick with it. Can't speak to tread wear yet, after one riding season they are holding up great. We have a lot of sand and varied terrain here in Michigan and the front tire just floats in the sand and hooks up everywhere. These tires are aggressive but handle very well on road as well. I run 16/18psi off-road and 22/24psi on road with no rim locks. Motoz are not cheap, but I got through some stuff that I thought there was no way. I tried the Tusk Waypoint combo, they were just "Ok". Worked best loaded down for Moto-camping with extra on road miles. I have a few Rally Raid products and really like them, especially their extended kickstand for upgraded suspension. Twelve O'clock Labs fender eliminator and integrated tail light/turn signals, front turn signals wired as running lights, and the Cyclops headlight bulb. Nice and bright. ProTaper bars, CR Mid, with the ProTaper risers. Zeta break and shift levers. Zeta folding front break and clutch levers, love these as they can fold backwards and I hate Barkbusters. Few other odds and ends.... I installed the 550 Performance ECU, (Stock improved 93 Octane), with their open airbox lid, running the stock air filter W/removed backfire screen. Love this setup, smoothed everything out, quieted down the stupid "5K Rattle" and runs great overall. This is as far as I will go on this engine, you can go crazy with engine mods but I'm not giving up the reliability. I don't want a loud exhaust so for now I am leaving it alone although, there are some definite benefits to changing it. Had the Acerbis 3.7gal Tank on for a while, switched back to the stock metal tank as I prefer the slimness and lighter weight.....that's 10 extra pounds up high. If I ever get out to do the Colorado BDR I will put it on for that. Sorry this is a long response, hope it helps a little. I was looking everywhere for any info on what worked and what didn't when I got mine.
I keep seeing bad stuff about these but I won’t a used one because I’ve found really good prices , any advice ?
All makes and models are bound to have their issues. As for the GM trucks, the 6.2’s are seeming to have more lifter issues than the 5.3’s. The 8 speed transmissions aren’t as good as the 6 or 10 speed. Change your oil often (I do every 5k or earlier). Clean the air filter, let her warm up, and stay on top of maintenance is really all you can do. In all of my 2008+ Chevy trucks I’ve owned I make sure to disable the AFM or DFM systems too.
@ gotchu , what if AFM delete ?
@@davidolla9148 range technology makes a chip that you plug into the OBD2 port. It costs about $250. It prevents the truck from shutting down cylinders (V8 to V4).
@@limitedslipautomotive Thas a bet Thank you ! Trying to buy one this summer
Which windscreen did you install, small or large?
This is the small one. I was unable to film my impressions video due to snow starting to fall, but I would recommend the large one if you are going to get one. This screen does keep wind off of my chest, but pushes air straight into my helmet making it extremely noisy. I am 6’2” so a shorter rider may not have the same issue.
@ Thanks. I’m only 5’11”, but that’s mostly from the hips up, so would probably have a similar experience. Might have to compromise though. The larger one sort of straightens out at the top and might be a little awkward off-road.
Hey man awesome video !!!! I have a new gmc sierra slt and I’ve been looking at the 4 inch ready lift sst kit for a while now. My main concern was losing the 4auto function. My question now is would you recommend this kit for someone that doesn’t off road much ? I generally use my truck for work (hauling and trailer for construction) and sometimes off road but nothing crazy. I live in Georgia so the roads are never terrible bad unless it snows every once in a while. I know this video is pretty old now and I saw you now have another kit on but I wanted to get your opinion. I wanted to know if I will have any problems using this kit for basically using it for its intended use and if it will last me a Long time. Thanks again brother you’ve been a big help.
I have a difficult time recommending the ReadyLift kit at this point (actually have a video recorded on it). The 4" kit (assuming your Sierra isn't an AT4) is really just a glorified leveling kit. While it does correct angles on the upper control arm, sway bar and CV angles are out of wack. I didn't have any problems with mine over 40k miles, but the angles and geometry really aren't great. I would recommend saving up a little longer and getting a proper kit that brings all the angles back to proper spec, especially if you pull a trailer often.
@ yea I figured, I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on the ready lift. I am on the verge on buying it but seeing what other people say about the lift makes me rethink. I don’t have a trailer hooked up all the time just once in a while. I mostly am loaded up in the back of the bed with material or tools. One of the main reasons I am not too worried about the Cv Angles since I don’t plan on doing anything crazy off-road wise and the truck will mostly just be on pavement. I guess I’m just more worried about how the kit will affect the truck overtime especially since I plan on keeping this truck for a while. Do you have another lift that you recommend that’s not too far off the price of the ready lift or would you say I shouldn’t be too concerned. Thanks for the reply man, I’ll make sure to subscribe !!
I’m still assuming your truck isn’t the AT4 so it doesn’t have the factory 2” kit. You could get away with a leveling kit (brings only the front up). Those are mostly safe and don’t stress the angles too bad, but still not “ideal”. Rough country and BDS make some options that replace the upper control arms too. Otherwise you can get the GM factory lift for around $1600 I believe. Anything past 3” you want to be dropping the diff cross member which costs $$$ for a kit and $$$$$ to install. What trim is your truck?
@ I have the SLT Trim so nothing was lifted when I bought the truck.
I have also looked at the roughy country kit that comes with the lifted struts and upper control arms. That one is a 3.5 lift, I don’t know if you think that one is any better for my situation lol
Top video
Thank you!
I’ve heard horror stories on steps like they getting stuck. Glad yours are holding up. I went the OEM high clearance steps. Wife is too short to put our son in.
Nice
I like them a lot!
Looks great, nice upgrade
Appreciate it! It's a big difference!
Great bike mate! I love mine and I also initially found it a bit underpowered but...wait a couple of k's till its broken in and its nature changes completely. It really wakes up and becomes more feisty and I also love the plush suspension too so enjoy her
That’s great to hear! Itching for winter to be over so I can get back to riding!
Did you put the velcro on the tailgate? Wondering how much it will flop wirh not doing it.
I did not do the Velcro on the tail gate. It hasn’t posed any issues with flop or movement when I have the topper installed.
Glad to hear you still like them.
They are a great addition for the truck for sure!
@ still waiting for mine to ship!
Hopefully they get to you soon brother.
Old video I know but you can indeed run 17” wheel just get like zero offset and money
When in doubt, bring out the sawzaw
the bolts need a little wd30
Thanks for the video and the idea on the Velcro - I reeeeaaaaaaally don’t feel like drilling into the dash if I don’t have to!
My pleasure! Haven't had any issues with mine so far so it's staying as is!
Depending what vehicle you have, you may not have to drill. With my 2025 Sierra it uses existing holes that you take out 2 existing screws and put 2 new ones in the same holes with the base..
@@mbrait2 That's super handy... The pre-refresh trucks don't have that unfortunately.
