You have no idea how much this helped me. I have to use my Honda Civic to travel 600 miles a month just to see my kids. So when things break down I can't afford to hire a mechanic. Videos like this are a life saver. Thank you so much for the tips. Much love from Ohio. 💜

Just letting you know this video is still helping people. My car was idling at 2000rpm when cold then revving up and down between 1 and 2k when warm. I cleaned the throttle body but neglected this part. I then bought a new map sensor then lamba sensor before I found this video.
The car is a 1996 civic ej9 which was sat for 5 years rotting away. Its now on the road and purring like a cat.
    Thank you 👍

If your Screw is starting to strip, USE a Rubber Band. Put it over screw, then push screw down onto it and unscrew it. Works every time....

Can you just start off with the rubber band trick and not strip them at all? And how wide does a rubberband have to be? It just brings up too many questions

Best thing for Philips *and* flathead screws is to buy a cheap gunsmithing screwdriver set. Way more sizes of each so it's more likely that you'll have a bit that fits perfectly, which means no more stripped screw heads.

Great Video! I have 2000 Honda CRV. I sprayed some of the outside of the throttle body but idle tries to shut off when turning steering wheel so not sure if that is related or I should get more into the throttle body. It does have rough idle. It could be wiring I guess but the quick fix will be to clean out the IAC valve. Thanks.

This is the first of your videos I've ever seen and I'm kind of in a hurry so I didn't see the previous video, so my question is what was the idle doing? was it a rough idle or was it the surging idle? Because my Honda has a rough idle and I've never had this check engine light on. been knowing that I need to eventually change out the valve because it stuck closed the other day and the engine would turn off every time I stopped loosened it up with some seafoam but did not take it off to clean. The idle air control valve is only like $16 on eBay do you recommend buying a cheap one?

    • @garonjohnson5922
      @garonjohnson5922 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Basically yes. The IACV pulls air into the intake via a tunnel that goes under the throttle plate and opens up on the other side. That's how it bypasses the throttle plate.

  • @aTastyBiscuit

    Hi, I have a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe with a D15B.
I've been getting uneven idle and frequent shakes while driving, along with an engine code, so I decided to bring it to a local mechanic. The engine code came up as P1022, concerning the TPS sensor and its low input, so the mechanic suggested having it changed to see if it would correct the issue. Afterward, it drove better but I would still notice tiny lags and shakes. Eventually, the engine code came back and the uneven idle and shakes became more frequent. I brought it back to the mechanic and had the TPS taken out for voltage calibration. It drove better and then again, the issue came back.
The wiring looks fine and the TPS sensor is the correct part number for the engine.
As of now, the P1022 code is still showing up and at this point, all the mechanic can suggest is a faulty idle air control valve or even the ECU based upon other's experience.
I'm hoping someone can provide some insight on what the cause could be before I spend more on parts and labour.

    • @davedaman2798

First thing to do is check your coolant level and make sure you bleed it. Second would be to clean out your throttle body and IAC valves and make sure your at the correct adjustment for the IAC. Third reset your ECU. Good luck!

I have the same issue Atasty. 2000 Honda Civic Lx, with a D15B non-vtec swap. Couldn't use the crank position sensor, because of the lack of the magnetic pickup on the crank sprocket (none on the JDM, and the USDM wouldn't fit from the D16, couldn't find a replacement for it yet, I've been bypassing it, but I'd like to find a D15B7 crank sprocket with a magnet to make it run with a crank sensor correctly).

@@hegeliandetective1034 that's weird! have you checked on ebay to see if anyone would have a compatible part? i don't think i've had any issues with the crank position sensor. for me, it's just something that has to do with the tps/tps voltage/wiring. my problem seems to go away after a few mins of driving so i haven't brought it to another shop as of yet. i hope your civic runs soundly soon!

A special screwdriver, by placing screw driver bit end on the screw and the other end tap with hammer. Cause the screw bit end to turn with increased torque to open a screw or close it. I purchased impact screwdriver for about $10. I used it for the screws holding the brakes rotors on my honda, worked like a charm.
