We think Jeff did a fine job, and hopefully his presentation demonstrates the ease and satisfaction of applying Al Bino Industrial Belting glue kit belt. Beautiful paint and polish. I like your jig. Great job. I've been re-lacing the old belt that came with my machine every few days for about 6 months. It has two splices in it, so it's a double re-lace every time. lol Question: What is the attachment on your head stock just under the right side oiler? I'm not familiar with the 10". Thanks
It is a mount for the micrometer carriage stop to allow for close collet work. Instead of clamping the carriage stop to the bed the bolt goes through one of the holes in the mount. They are all over ebay for about $50. Lathes built some time after the mid 50's have the two mounting holes. Mine did not so I had to drill and tap two 1/4-20 holes.
Jeff, Thanks for the reply. Interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next time I look at one of the old accessory catalogs. I have the regular single barrel micrometer stop on mine. Any upcoming shop projects planned for upload? I'm always looking for more to watch and learn from. Thanks.
Not excessive pressure is the range that someone with an average amount of common sense would come up with…There’s a million different methods used to glue those belts together considering everybody doing it comes up with their own little system,, and they more or less all work ending with the same outcome.. and then some people overthink the whole thing 🤔 when they could’ve come up with something much quicker and easier… Anyway nice looking Lathe..
