      Very helpful! Do you have, or do you know of a video that details how to tension the two motor to pulley belts and the big flat belt?

    I came back to this video to recheck the oils and where they are used. The illness I deal with affects my memory big time. You and the basement guy explain things with clarity and I for one appreciate your videos. I was working on my first project, an aluminum protective cover for a GPS device on a single seat Helicopter. I was in the finishing stages when the rear Headstock bearing locked up at higher speeds. I can run it slower and longer but I need the higher RPMs to finish shaping the cone. I put some Motorkote in the rear Oil Git and it helped it stay running a little longer but there is no doubt I will have to replace it. I was going to suggest something to you and I don't know if it will work or not because I haven't installed a set of New Era Dials. I bought a set for my SB 13 but these are made for another brand, maybe a Logan, not sure. I know from watching Brad's install and modifications of the New Era Dials he had on a lathe that there was some binding because of the 2 lock screws. Could you make a new compound and cross feed screw and thread the crank handle ends to mate to the New Era Dial sleeve that the screws lock in. Thread it to match a the new threaded additions on the new parts. Then there should be no side to side movement and use the locking screws to lock it in place or even better a pin of some sort. I was going to put this set on mine but my lathe would need to look like yours so I'm going to sell my pair in the next few weeks after I complete the work needed on the spindle. Consider making a video on your shop and the tools and machinery you have, I might have asked you before but then I went back and deleted what I wrote because it sounded like I was a broken record. Thank you again for the great information on the lathe oils and how to use them.

    I really need to just get it together and order the gallons. I'd also like to try the open gear spray lube on my 13" Good video. Thanks.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John, especially if your planning on having the lathe for awhile. You really do go through a lot of C type and Way oil. Thanks for watching! -Adán

    • @johnstrange6799
      @johnstrange6799 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the C oil is definitely what I'm flying through. I made a little tray that catches the oil under the gears and runs it down into a bottle for reuse as just general purpose shop oil. Someone with real fabrication abilities could do it with nice materials, and improve upon it's shape to make it run under the gear box as well. It could be a little money maker really.

    Hi Adan, did you end up selling your 13" lathe? I thought you'd said on the Facebook group that you were selling--if so, how long did it take?

    •  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I recall correctly it was about 30min. 😂 I ended up buying a 9A and restored exactly like the 13”.

      Thanks for watching. The brand is New Era. Your going to have to do some digging as far as where to get them. They are no longer made. 🤔I want to say I got them from a guy on the South Bend Facebook page. Good luck! -Adán
