Wow just got my first ever metal lathe and it looks exactly like your's the model # stamped on the bed is 58979 would this make it a legitimately a 1936 model? How could I find parts?
Very cool . I got a 1936 4 ft in really good shape . technically its a model 415 , the precursor to the model C (debuted in 1939). pretty much the same except the 415 has spindle oilers on top and the model C in front . The C also has a forked banjo and more gear settings possible .

There should be a pin on the carriage clamp. It’s probably sheared off or missing. Happy I found your channel. Thanks for the videos

nice lathe. Lots of stuff. The nut should be an easy fix.
How did you join the serpentine belt.
you can cut and glue them back together. In this case I had the spindle out and was able to install it without cutting it.
