Sinead certainly had some exceptional qualities, but she also had a lot of anger. Converting that anger into support for Islam which oppresses women is certainly not 'telling truth to power', it is the actions of a deeply troubled person riddled with self-loathing.
It reflects well on you that you can see beauty in human beings. Hopefully you can see that beauty in telling the truth as well.
We should honor Sinead in her passing for who and what she was, but telling lies about her denigrates her as a human being.

That kind of abuse causes extreme confusion and a constant need to battle and search for the truth and love she didn't have. That was the journey Sinead Oconnor was on. It doesn't mean she was infallible. She tried to find truth and love in many places. She was ordained as a priest. She identified with Rastafarians, she called herself Jewish. No matter what flaws you can find in Islam I don't see any reason to fault her with her constant searching. It was a pain response. I pray for the day when pure love and truth is revealed and the kind of evil she endured is permanently destroyed.
@@ariellaabrahams I think its appalling when Sinead went through. She was clearly a sensitive soul (as many of us are). She showed immense courage, but from what I can gather she never found a safe harbor which is incredibly sad because everyone deserves to feel safe.
The betrayal of being abused by your own mother is incomprehensible. I see Sinead as more than just a victim, and her life as more than just a tragedy. I see her as a person who was immensely brave.
This has to be one of the best covers ever made. Her voice makes me feel so calm, it's angelic. This feels like a lullaby. Both Sinéad and Kurt suffered so much, I hope they're both at peace.
I always loved her voice and love Nirvana too. This is a great cover. I never knew she covered it.
