"This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" Luv and Peace.
@alderan9 ....and you are just a nasty troll who probably couldn't comprehend the complexity of emotions in her lyrics and songs if you tried. I suppose you think a healthy way to deal with trauma in your life is to just suppress it?? ...many have done that and gone literally insane, or hurt themselves...or others. Better out than in. If you don't appreciate her talent as a performer why are you here ? There's millions of other TH-cam songs/videos you could go pour your scorn on ? Yeah that part was cool. She was prolly assassinated. A severe case of the emperor's new clothes! Ha!! She knew the truth!! She spoke it too!! I pray her soul is with Jesus Christ.
Such a brilliant song that perfectly expresses her complexity as a person and skill as a songwriter. She's defiant yet vulnerable, sure of herself but also willing to consider someone else's perspective, wise but admits she doesn't have all the answers. The chorus changes each time, adding shades of meaning as the song evolves. The title doesn't appear until the last line, driving home the metaphor only after she's built out her world view. One of my all-time favorites. RIP Sinead ❤
@LittleDidSheKnow Sinead O’Connor didn’t actually write this song. But I believe it was written for her to sing specifically. Becos one of the unusual things we knew about Sinead O’Connor in the UK and Ireland at the time she became well known , was that she had a kid, already, very young. In fact she was juggling that at the exactly same time as national fame. And she quickly ended up a single parent too. Or at least they split up alot. I remember clearly she wouldn’t play the ‘female commercial singer’ game. Not at all. And neither would British/American black singer Neneh Cherry, she performed her song, Buffalo Stance, clearly 7 months pregnant on Top Of The Pops in 1988. That shocked ppl then. Neneh didn’t give a sh**t. She was like Sinead. She wouldn’t play the music men’s record company game. That female singers had to present to public in a certain way.
@@melindawakley7859 Do you know who wrote the song? Everything I've seen credits Sinead O'Connor as the songwriter. I'd be interested to know, because the lyrics are so personal and fit Sinead to a T!

“Maybe it sounds mean, but I really don’t think so, you asked for truth and I told you.” This and Mandinka are my two favorites. She made a lot of great music, and spoke the truth when no one wanted to hear. She spoke out about the abuse in the church and was vilified for it. She wrote “Black Boys On Mopeds” 30 yrs before the 2020 BLM marches. She spoke up for those whose voices weren’t heard and made beautiful music doing so. I hope she now knows the legacy she left behind and the difference she did make on this earth.
"Whatever it may bring/I will live by my own policies." You sure did - and brilliantly. A powerhouse of supreme talent, intelligence and complex emotions, you were vilified for being an unapologetically-strong woman, speaking truths and calling out bullshit. Your incredible music touched and inspired millions and you will never be forgotten. May you be at peace, Sinead.💔
There is no challenge on this Woman's bravery. People like Sinead suffer for a Reason, and she never pitied herself, even when talking about her problems as a child. She represented True strength and Revelation🙏No Ego..no desperation to be Famous, simply to get her messages across to people..I felt I really connected to Mandinka through that song too💋💯💕

Rest in Peace Sinead. You broke the mold for what it meant to be woman vocalist in the 90s. A real trailblazer with a beautiful and haunting voice. I played this song on repeat, I loved it so much, along with Thief of Your Heart. Your spirits sings on.
She was an incredibly brave woman. Not afraid to blow the whistle and piss people off for speaking the truth. For whatever her music might be considered, I always thought she embodied the spirit of Punk for that. :) Rest in peace, sister.
God Rest this magnificent artist. When she first came out my husband and I thought she had the wildest, best music ever. I've listened to this album and Something Beautiful a thousand times. An artist wrestling the world in chaos fitting in her mind. This woman never had mental illness, she believed what they told her over a FB post. Her younger self would've flipped them a finger, wrote a song and carried on but attack her motherhood and you see the fragile, sensitive soul exposed. The best mother, the best artist, the best songs to carry on. I can hardly believe she is gone.
One of the greatest female singers and voices of her generation. Paved the way for so many who are now free to express themselves in the ways Sinead never could. An amazing individual.
As a grieving mother, I know, and understand. I am thankful for her music taking me back to happy times with my son. Heartfelt gratitude and condolences to her family.
I'd forgotten all about this song. Then on playing it just now (the day after her passing) I realised I knew every single word. Subconsciously they'd been held in me all these years. Thank you Sinead. You can rest in peace with the clearest of consciousness. Your truth and light will live on forever.
This is her anthem. Every lyric is so true and clear. Shame on all of us for hanging all of our bullshit on this woman who was simply calling attention to the obvious. I was a child and I remember watching the SNL performance live and thinking 'duh, the catholic church is a monstrous institution, lousy with pedophiles, hateful rhetoric, corruption, and hypocrisy.' Then the next day grown fucking adults where shocked by this revelation. This is always how I feel when they try to bring down Powerful women via controversy. Like it's a stretch guys..yet people fall for it every single time. I swear this is the twilight zone sometimes. I just feel like I live on another planet sometimes cuz people completely ignore these very obvious things as if they can't see them. It bothers the fuck out of me. Imagine what she must have felt.
💪🙌🤟 Tell it Sister! Thank you for speaking truth to Power about ❤️🔥Ms Sinead, the brilliant, courageous force of nature whose art will continue to provide strength, healing and light for us all. I hope she read your comment when she was still here with us. I pray that she was able to feel how much she was loved and appreciated by so many around the world. If not, I hope she feels it now as her soul transcends this earth, and, that she finds joy and peace on the 'other side' and bliss in reunion with her beloved son. Much love and light to you... keep speaking your truth and singing your soul! 🕊🕯❤️🔥💪
Catholic Church is paying Billions in settlements as the result of it's sordid history. So that issue is working itself out. Maybe you should channel your unresolved anger toward the much more corrupt institutions that have never been held accountable. Government, Public Education, Universities . OTHER RELIGIOUS SECTS (like the ones that behead and stone people).
I’ve been showing the kids at work that she had way more and better songs than Nothing Compares to You since that’s the only one they knew her for. This is always the first one I play for them, it’s an amazing song and even though I hadn’t listened to it myself since the 90’s I still know every word.
My first exposure to Sinead besides Nothing Compares was from my mom and her coworkers, because I was helping at their office the day she died. Well, I’m here now and I can’t believe I never got to appreciate this amazing woman in her life. You’re doing great work for those kids :)

@@libbylou7224 Exactly the same for me. I don’t think I ever have done for any celebrity. Upon hearing of Sinead’s death though i was genuinely shocked & saddened when a news alert popped up on my phone. In 1987 when I bought her debut album on vinyl I played it over & over & over as much as I could. When she was touring in my area in 1990 I of course had to go & see her. I don’t remember a whole lot about the gig itself now but the highlight was very briefly seeing her backstage after & she signed a couple of her record covers I brought with me. I still have the Mandinka 7” single here where she signed “To ………. love Sinead.” Despite her terrible start in life & subsequent troubles in & out of the public eye, she always stood out from 99% of all other famous people, fellow musicians & celebrities in general because she never once sold out or did anything that she didn’t want to do. She was filled with an integrity & honesty that so many lack & it didn’t go unnoticed which is why she was genuinely loved by so many of her fans around the world.

She is and was a fave of mine. Always. She never pretended to be anything or anyone but her, and I have so much respect for that.
@@angelagak399 She does live by her own policies. She has the utmost integrity. I'm not sure it's working for her but I'm reminded of Joan of Arc.
She is insanely talented and probably the most truthful and authentic artist I've heard.
I really wish she finds peace. I always expect to read she was found dead.
It's a tragic expectation.
"This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you"
Luv and Peace.
She has no fear and she has no shame. . . smiles. . .
She's the shit for brutal honesty

She tried to warn us. She knew more then than most of us do now. Sacrificed herself to save us. Thank you, Sinead.
Yes, she is a true Legend. She gave up a lot in order to get the message out. She helped many of us. And still does
She's just an attention seeker.
Pathetic that you feel a need to do this to make yourself feel superior. All you're doing is deliberately trying to wind people up and be negative and prurient for the sake of it. How big of you. Your emotional intelligence and empathy skills appear to be at about 0.
@@alderan9 No you are! 😀
I used to love walking down State Street in Madison and listen to Sinead’s voice streaming from upper apartments. Made me feel cool.
I am a lover of many types of music.
This woman is out of this world, and I cannot get over how I have missed her in my many years of listening to music.
I feel so upset and even angry at my inability to not to get into this wonderful person!

"Through their own words, they will be exposed." RIP Sinead. ❤
Exactly!! She knew!!
Hear, hear!
Yeah that part was cool. She was prolly assassinated. A severe case of the emperor's new clothes! Ha!! She knew the truth!! She spoke it too!! I pray her soul is with Jesus Christ.
@@eileensianez6766She was probably by the clot shots...many sheeple stock are being assasinated
Exposed doesn't mean persecuted though cancel culture preferred to silence her.
As far as I am concerned, she said everything she needed to say in this song

@@melindawakley7859 do you mean already when we all came to know about her with nothin compares 2 u, she was already a mom then? .. I was always wondering about all these references in her songs to pregnancy and children, and I didn't get why she was preoccupied with that when she was herself not yet a parent.
According to Wikipedia she did write this song en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor%27s_New_Clothes_(song)

I’m in tears. RIP my Queen. You were such a huge part of my earlier life. You helped through countless difficulties. I’ll never, ever cease hving love for you in my heart, & I’ll NEVER forget you. I’ve shared your music w/ my now young adult children. You’ll live forever!! Goddess speed to the throne you own. 😭😭🌟❤️♥️❤️♥️😩🪴
I’ve been in tears since I heard. This song was the core of my early 20s. I can’t tell you the number of times I screamed sang this song, feeling as though she was the only person on the planet that understood me. I wish I could give you a big hug right now. Just know you’re not alone. ❤❤
Same here ❤ listening to her music early 90s helped me find m emotions that I'd hidden for too long. Rest in peace, beautiful woman ❤
😭😭💔💔💔💔💔
Her stunning facial features and dance moves... still one of my favourite Sinead's songs.
Great comment. However, "She wrote “Black Boys On Mopeds” 30 yrs before the 2020 BLM marches. Perhaps overlooking the civil rights movement somewhat?
"Whatever it may bring/I will live by my own policies." You sure did - and brilliantly. A powerhouse of supreme talent, intelligence and complex emotions, you were vilified for being an unapologetically-strong woman, speaking truths and calling out bullshit. Your incredible music touched and inspired millions and you will never be forgotten. May you be at peace, Sinead.💔
And she was about to tour and release new Songs🙏Hope we get to hear them❤❤
I just cannot hear that lyric. To me it sounds like she says "It might be brave"
There is no challenge on this Woman's bravery. People like Sinead suffer for a Reason, and she never pitied herself, even when talking about her problems as a child. She represented True strength and Revelation🙏No Ego..no desperation to be Famous, simply to get her messages across to people..I felt I really connected to Mandinka through that song too💋💯💕
Well said. I miss her mightily. She and I , well, we both confronted evil in high places with the truth. I am also a female musician and performer vilified but never silenced until I heard of her death. I am just now beginning to be able to sing again and I love to sing her songs to myself and others too. I can do that. I hold her up. I kept going a while longer because her bravery was so inspiring and in her honor I will continue to speak the truth to power, and as my Mom would say, "carry on" We both, my mom and I , sufferred hideously from abuses to our minds and bodies perpetrated by priests of the Roman Catholic Church and the governmental abuses too...I promised my Mom I would " carry on" in making a stand for the rights and dignity of all and women in particular. Mom and Sinead... for you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤th-cam.com/video/tqt3YZ6gG2w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FQmfMfzR7gNrRiyw

Rest in Peace Sinead. You broke the mold for what it meant to be woman vocalist in the 90s. A real trailblazer with a beautiful and haunting voice. I played this song on repeat, I loved it so much, along with Thief of Your Heart. Your spirits sings on.
this song gave me the strength to survive my senior year of high school...

Same! Forever grateful! ❤❤
She was an incredibly brave woman. Not afraid to blow the whistle and piss people off for speaking the truth.
For whatever her music might be considered, I always thought she embodied the spirit of Punk for that. :)
Rest in peace, sister.
She and Delores Oriodan are my favorite female artists.
One of the greatest female singers and voices of her generation. Paved the way for so many who are now free to express themselves in the ways Sinead never could. An amazing individual.
So true!❤😢

I'd forgotten all about this song. Then on playing it just now (the day after her passing) I realised I knew every single word. Subconsciously they'd been held in me all these years. Thank you Sinead. You can rest in peace with the clearest of consciousness. Your truth and light will live on forever.
It's a rare talent that can make you dance to a song which such powerful lyrics. Sleep in peace, Sinéad.

Maybe you should channel your unresolved anger toward the much more corrupt institutions that have never been held accountable.
Government, Public Education, Universities .

in early usa they wouldve called her a witch and burned her at the stake ..
Hey, can you fast track me to the nine year old who finished that mad lib for you? For something a nine year old wrote, it was pretty good
I’ve been showing the kids at work that she had way more and better songs than Nothing Compares to You since that’s the only one they knew her for. This is always the first one I play for them, it’s an amazing song and even though I hadn’t listened to it myself since the 90’s I still know every word.
I never liked “nothing compares” it was this song that brought me to her.
Well, do the kids like it or not
My first exposure to Sinead besides Nothing Compares was from my mom and her coworkers, because I was helping at their office the day she died. Well, I’m here now and I can’t believe I never got to appreciate this amazing woman in her life. You’re doing great work for those kids :)
Underrated for a Sinead O'Connor song? No underrated for one of the greatest songs of all time. I know she's had her struggles, with this she created a masterpiece.

God bless you always Sinead. I cried real tears when I had heard you had died. You were a beautiful human being in every way possible. You’re music has been with me since 1987 when I bought your first Album The Lion & The Cobra. Was fortunate to see you play live at the height of your fame in 1990. I even briefly met you after the gig at the back of the event & you shook my hand & asked if I enjoyed it. You were amazing then & remained that way throughout your entire life. You will be very sadly missed by all of your fans & friends around the world. Thank you for always being you Sinead & never selling out. xxx
I literally cried too. I can't remember a time I've done that over a celebrity.
I still have the Mandinka 7” single here where she signed “To ………. love Sinead.”
Despite her terrible start in life & subsequent troubles in & out of the public eye, she always stood out from 99% of all other famous people, fellow musicians & celebrities in general because she never once sold out or did anything that she didn’t want to do. She was filled with an integrity & honesty that so many lack & it didn’t go unnoticed which is why she was genuinely loved by so many of her fans around the world.

She never shied away from the truth or telling it or showing us how human & fragile she could be at times as well. Everything about her was a 100% real as far as I could tell. How many celebrities or just human being in general can we honestly say that about?
