BOTH, says a man with room full of tools pasted on his walls.
I like his wall.
Thank You
For oil pans and light duty ,which one ?

@@TurdFurgeson275 you can be the king. Lol.
What’s the attachment called that lets you drill with bits??
the drills have slower speed control and some have anti tightening or something like that. impacts also have a similar feature like auto impact where when it sense that the nut is loose it stops impacting. newer impacts have 1, 2 or 3 speeds or auto feature i stated. so with no impact-hammer, the slower drill speed also prevent wobble making the drill good for screwing and making holes. the impact can do it too but the impact ability can stripped the screws before the auto kicks in even on speed 1.
For home use, only a drill is needed. For professional use, MAYBE both are needed.
I can agree with that. I definitely need both
Both, but I would think the common home owner would do better with a drill
I totally agree, we never had impacts until maybe 15 or 20 years ago. Got by on a drill before that.
@@hammerandhome exactly, that’s all I remember in my step pops tool area. Old heavy corded drill with a big chuck and the chuck key electric taped to the cord. The good days
@@joejones56 haha that’s right, every cord had electrical tape wrapped around it. Things have changed so much in the last 20 years !
Cheers
So why not eliminate potential stress on your arm all together and just get an im. driver.
As a hgv mechanic i agree both are needed
A simple and perfect explanation, thank you.🙏
Thanks 😊 happy you liked it.
Why are we comparing..... Only use a impact when a drill would stall out
Drills are better suited for the larger fasteners as compared to impacts.
I like the impact driver WAY better than drill!
👋👋👋
It’s usually my go to as well
@@hammerandhome yep
@@tedmcdonald3377 👋👋👋👋
I use a hammer drill for all
Excellent and simple. thanks 🙏
Impact driver is way more versatile. But if you've ever tried drilling holes with an impact and a hole bit, you'll know why that drill is still important lol
Hmm, so having both is actually beneficial?
Impacts are definitely not as versatile as a drill
@@Sr_iRL basically drill is for smaller thinner stuff, impact is for large bolts and such, drill won’t have enough strength for large bolts so you use impact driver, impact driver might break a thin drill bit or destroy a wood frame hole due to higher force so u would use a drill for that.
I have both
You can use both for the same thing I do all the time I have my impact I bought but work supplies use with a normal drill and impacts but prefer using my own impact. I like the handle it has.
Great point, thanks
Glad it was helpful!
All I heard was you need both because the impact driver is better
I use the one I can find.
My only question is how many drills and impacts are too many
The drill is also good for screws that are too weak for impact drivers not just for drilling. For even weaker screws, a manual screw driver. For most screws, just sink it in with an impact driver and give it a quick chatter to make sure it’s on tight.
in my personal opinion a drill is NEEDED for woodworking a impct driver is not nessecary my dad did woodworking for 12 years never used a impact driver and i work with wood now and impacts are useless (in my humble opinion)
I grew up the same, always used a drill. Now all I use are impacts. I seldom grab my drill. But it definitely has its uses.
I use my impact for light weight drilling so I just carry my impact.
my impact is variable speed and can control it. I have both of these tools and in the last 5 years have used the drill maybe twice. Impact imo can replace the drill.
Guys just buy a hammer drill it’s super versatile
HE EXPLAINED THIS TO HIS WIFE VERBATIM! LMAO!
Do we need different brain for different condition ?
I have man arms though.😂
You can't give a half twist to a screw with an impact driver though.
I like my milwaukee impact better to be honest🟥⚡️
oh no u poor baby is ur arm ok
😂
lol
👍🏻🍻🍺🤙🏼
As a Contractor, Carpenter Framer & Deck Builder, Electrician and Welder Yes I do need both, but I don't need a regular Drill. I use Hammer Drill instead, it's got more torque and power and can drill on concrete efficiently, and I use the impact driver for driving Fasteners, I don't use Impact Driver for drilling with 1-1/2" Paddle Bits or Hole Saw or any drill bits Larger than 3/16th Drill bit for Pilot hole for 1/2" Dia. 4" Lag Bolts 🔩. For Decking and Framing Screws. I use 1/8th Drill bit for Pilot hole. I don't use my impact drivers for Paddle bits or Self feeding Bore bits because that's dumb and stupid for frying out the tool for the wrong application, that is the Job of The Hammer Drill. Either Cordless or Corded Hammer Drill. So yeah, I need 2!
