Sometimes I get lazy as well and forget haha. But I also usually use Color Finale 2 Pro, so I'm normally labeling in there. Thanks for watching, my dude! 👊🏼 I'll keep the series going.
Nice! I forgot about Shift Z and learned something new with the option (and then drag). Is there a way to have the Range Check 'all' stay enabled? I hate have to go turn on all the time. I hope Apple listens to you on the name change - I would really like to label all my color wheels with names. I purchased your course maybe 5 months ago and have been through it 4 times, taking notes and screen captures. I just take things to the color correction point via using Phantom LUT for the Rec 709. My results are exactly what I want, I can work very quickly (via a made preset), and most importantly I understand the process and what I'm doing. The Hue/Sat curves are no longer a mystery either. I was really frustrated this past year+ trying to learn this stuff because EVERYONE on TH-cam did it differently. Your course is terrific. In a sea of never ending stuff to buy I can say that this was my best purchase last year. PS - Dylan goes and talks much slower on the course than he does on these videos...(and you can skip right over the Color Finale segments if you don't have that).
I really appreciate you saying that, my friend! So, so glad you loved the course 😊 A lot of people on TH-cam seem to not know exactly what they're doing so I made sure to try and give as definitive answer as possible for students. Thanks so much for leaving a comment about it!
Sweet score! I'll keep this format going then. I figured people might be sick of it after the first one, but perhaps not. Thanks so much! It was super cheap on Amazon haha
It's a few days of work but I'm happy to do it! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼 Check out Part 1 if you haven't already 👉🏼 th-cam.com/video/Fu1-HVeCWRA/w-d-xo.html
These tips are awesome. I've been using Final Cut since FCP7 (and transitioned to FCPX in 2012 when it was released), and there are still so many things in here I didn't know about. Thank you for the helpful video!
Sweet! Yep, FCP is user-friendly and powerful. It's certainly a great NLE, but Apple just needs to put a little more work into it with different features. I have high hopes for this year.
very glad you got the idea of creating those in-depth tip n tricks to continue editing more efficient. Im a hoppy video maker that tries to grow snd get better and more efficient in editing and these kind of tutorials are not only funny and plesant to watch but very informative. next up is saving up for the colorgrading course/phase. to level up! productions. @@dylanjohndickerson
There are so many outstanding tips in this video. I need to implement them gradually, perhaps even assigning the most useful ones as shortcuts on my Tourbox. Thank you for sharing this video; it's exceptionally helpful, particularly for someone new to FCP.

You can be me now! Just overthink everything, move to another country that provides low cost of living, become a workaholic and watch way too many movies lol. Glad you're liking this format 😊 Perhaps I'll make another one in a few weeks.
Hey Dylan. Love your tips and tricks videos. Just wondering reflecting back on the part 1 video using the index tab for clips. Is there a way to sort this list alphabetically? I do a lot of wedding editing and shoot everything in slog 3 across 3 different cameras but was wondering if there was a way where i could copy effects applied to clips either with the same name (different ranges used in the same clip) or clips that were shot one after the other in the same environment? Im trying to speed up my grading and if the index list could be sorted alphabetically that would speed things up for me as currently im just looking for similar clips in the timeline and using the cmd+shift V method which isn’t as fast as I would like. Any help or tips to speed this up would be greatly appreciated 👍
Hey man! Thanks for the kind words. So you could hit copy c on the clip with the effects, search the beginning file name of those clips you want to apply, select them bit hitting Command A, and then hit command shift V. Ah just realized that this method isn't fast enough for you. What you're talking about is grouping all those clips and when you change one, you change them all. There is a feature in Color Finale 2 Pro that offers that exact thing if you're interested. geni.us/ColorFinale If that sounds like what you're looking for, you can get the plugin 50% off as a student of my FCP/Color Finale Color Grading Masterclass www.fcpcolorgradingmasterclass.com If not, no worries at all. I'm not sure there's a way to alphabetize without searching in the index.
I did, however I messed up this time by not having a backlight to help separate me from the background a bit more and I also should have stopped down so more of me is in focus. I didn't need to be around f2.
Thank you so much! These videos are awesome. One note about tip #9 (range check), it doesn't work if you have a multicam clip on the timeline, which sucks. It only works if you view the clip in the multicam viewer.
I have no idea why, but that Range check NEVER works for me... Tried it many many times... I click on a single clip in my timeline that has already been graded or effects added but never does anything... `Cannot figure it out...
Can you please tell apple to add more marker colors and to add more of a professional audio editing tool similar to premiere pro. these are the only 2 things that annoy me about final cut compared to another professional NLE, oh and also an auto subtitles button these would make final cut feel more complete.
😂 Well hopefully I always bring it, but perhaps there will be some videos that don't interest you. I'm going to start putting out more gear reviews and videography tips on the channel this year.

Is Final Cut Pro only for Mac ?
Yep!
Im using for many projects premiere pro, but just for one reason: automatic subtitles. this is missing badly in fcpx
There's plugins like Captionator that do that, but I agree with you

Nice! Good work 👊🏼
lol, I totally nuked the range tool key. Pressing "R" opens my custom speed dialog. Still glad I did it. Not a big fan of the range tool.

I always forget how to loop a section of the timeline and 10 minutes from now, I will forget again.
Here’s a simple way of thinking about it! Just think, Command Loop (L). “I (Command) Final Cut to (L)oop.”
For the iPad version too? Ah no….
