G'day Dylan, I've got one thing I just can't work out in FCP no matter how many videos I watch to try and learn... leveling of audio roles across a whole video. In some simpler editing programs I've used there was a function that basically performed all the things the Compressor and a few other audio effects achieve in FCP, and it'd bring the highs and lows back closer to the average with very little input from me (because it gave me so few options to choose from, lol). I cannot for the life of me seem to get the compressor to do what I want it to without it sounding weird. One of the other simplest things I wish I could do with a quick cheat is just changing the volumes of various clips (taken with different cameras in a range of situations) so that they're all at the same "real" volume level... I mean, they might all import at 0Db, but they all sound like they're different volumes. make sense? At the moment I'm going through and adjusting each individual clip by eye and ear... there's got to be an easier way! If not - any chance you could add it to the list? Have you made a video explaining the compressor and volume levelling in detail? I spend so much time tweaking the audio for each video it'd be great to know if there's a faster way to do it.

@@dylanjohndickerson There are other things assigned to GH as default, but nothing that I used anyway. I know H was the Hand tool. I never use it, since I navigate with the trackpad etc.
The audio roles was a game changer for me when I discovered it. This along with creating FCP project templates so you only have to set up your audio roles ONCE and they are always setup the way you want them is HIGHLY recommended.
That's a fantastic idea! Generally my audio roles work for whatever project I'm using, but I can imagine creating specific roles for say corporate work and then doc work could be super helpful. Awesome idea!

@@dylanjohndickerson There are other things assigned to GH as default, but nothing that I used anyway. I know H was the Hand tool. I never use it, since I navigate with the trackpad etc.

The audio roles was a game changer for me when I discovered it. This along with creating FCP project templates so you only have to set up your audio roles ONCE and they are always setup the way you want them is HIGHLY recommended.
That's a fantastic idea! Generally my audio roles work for whatever project I'm using, but I can imagine creating specific roles for say corporate work and then doc work could be super helpful. Awesome idea!
