Hope you all enjoy this video. There are many other ways to use the Magentic Mask in FCP. These are only a few. I'd love to hear your thoughtts on these methods and any others you've seen out there. Hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving if you're in the US. Thanks so much for watching!
Great share. No one else is talking about dropping the effect right on the area you want to use it. Everybody else is talking about dropping the mask first in the timeline after you create a duplicate clip. Great workflow timesaver. Thanks from Trinidad 🇹🇹
Well hit me with a wet mop, I didn’t know you could drop an effect straight to the clip and have the mask turn on like that. That’s great. I’m a real noob with FCP as I’ve only just bought a Mac mini, DaVinci Resolve user usually but I wanted to see how Mac’s own performed. Quite enjoying all the vids on this great tool so keep them coming.
I just finished watching Columbo, episode 4 (Amazon Prime), and at the end of the first act. the antagonist pushes the victim and appears to hit the table, and cut to shattering glass camera looking up onto the antagonist but in between the glass just shatters, slo mo. I’m very curious how they did that shot. It appear as though they used magnetic mask!!! The next scene is a close up onto the face, and they did a hold gram of his face but his glasses are shaded and they did two scenes onto each of his eyeglasses. That was pretty cool!!
I have watched 50 or so videos on the Magnetic mask. You are the only person who mentioned that you can drag an effect on a clip and the magnetic mask will be applied to that effect!
@@rodolfoelgert1102 ¡Muchas gracias por ver el vídeo! Sí, probablemente también se necesitaría un poco de seguimiento para que el emoji se mantenga en su posición en la cara.
@EmberdynXi I really appreciate how simple and digestible your tutorials are. Will definitely be watching more of them. Gotta know though…What’s the meaning behind the channel name?
@ Ah. I was waiting for someone to ask that. Lol. I’m actually gonna make a trailer for the channel that explains it but the name Emberdyn (pronounced Ember-din) is a combo of the words Ember (spark) and Dynamic (change). Because I believe that as artists we can Spark Change and bring about positive change in the hearts and minds of those we reach. 🙂. That’s the short version. There will be a channel trailer coming soon to fully explain the name. ❤️. Thanks for asking.
@@HntrShoots it should just do it without having to do anything else. What effect were you trying to apply, I don’t think it works for every effect. But most.
@@gaetanomagliuolo Hey, definitely think it would require some manual intervention on a frame by frame basis. I’d be willing to bet that the mask would have a hard time staying accurate on a drummer but that’s a test I’m gonna try now. Lol. I’ll let you know the results. Actually maybe I’ll make a quick video about it. lol.
Is it possible to do a video of “ how you show the computer screen and have your picture on the screen talking “. I want to do a video like that but don’t know how to do it. Do you think you can make a video for us ?
Hey! Sure I can make video about this at some point. I personally use Camtasia for screen recording which has a feature to also show your face via a webcam. I tend to not use that feature and just record my face separately on a different camera then merge them together in FCP. But most screen cast software will allow you to do this. Camtasia, Screenflow, OBS (free), are all examples of good screen recording software. Hope that helps.
@@EmberdynFXok thank you. I will look into those screen recording software. If you also can do a video will me appreciated because we like the way you teach .
@@EmberdynFX Magnetic Mask is a great for demoing, but actual use of it is a different thing. As an editor I just used it to remove modern ear tags from cows in a documentary I'm editing! Worked great!
