Those "heavy half ton" obs trucks are awesome. 6lug 14 bolt rear , boxed frame . Very tough still but that 6.5 is junk lol . Good to see y'all giving er some love . Please please please more frequent uploads.....edit ... I wonder how many trucks with these options were made . Very interesting combination of options
The 7.3 Powerstroke is just a wanna be 6.5
I agree - very unique combo and glad to have it. I'm gonna run that 6.5 til it gives out and love how it sounds. lol I'm trying to keep the uploads more frequent but it's all about being inspired to create it for me. I'm trying to stay inspired and not burnt out.
can't say diddly about a 6.5 until you've owned one and ran it though 100k+ miles. you could say the same about a powerjoke and cumapart. you'll fry the wiring harness and everything else just trying to start the piece of junks.
42:42 sounded like somebody soiled themselves. 😆 love the truck. I have the SUV platform, a 1996 2500 4x4 Suburban with the 7.4L 454 engine and the 4l80e trans with 8 lug wheels.
That's the first time I've watched a lift being done, so used to watching them drop! That was awesome watching you all chip in with the build and the comradere that ensued. Liked the white crew cab too 👍

Man I love those 90's Chevy trucks! I guess you can call this a dirty build, since it ain't clean. But I love it! 34s might have been a tad overkill for the fenders, but they sure look nice with those rims. Love the sound but personally I would probably use a mild muffler just to play nice(ish) with any potential other human beings in the vicinity.

I just bought a 97 Chevy C1500 Stepside OBS and she's a beauty. It has its rough sides but still rocking! Its getting its LPG system removed and checked out and hopefully arrive within 1 or 2 weeks! My first ever truck with a slick 350 V8 engine!

I did the 6 in on my 95 K1500 suburban with a socket set and a angle grinder it took me two full days by myself wish I would've had that gas axe and air tools them bolts were a nightmare.
Man, it certainly was more involved than I expected but am thankful to have a shop full of quality tools and a great crew that can use them.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I was luckily able to use the lift in my buddies shop but a tornado had came trew and pulled the roof off and destroyed the air compressor so there was air tools I just couldn't use them lol

My dad had ordered a brand new 1994 chevorlet k2500 silverado and the dealer messed it up and it came as a heavy half, was a 5.7 350 V8, and 6.5s are not junk, those motors can be bullet proof.
I really like this truck and drivetrain. Sounds like an old tractor and appears to want to run forever. It already has 285k on it and still going
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Yea, I gotta 1985 Chevorlet K10 silverado with a 6.5 non turbo detroit swap, has like 60 something thousand miles on the motor and 145k miles on the body and frame. It's an old farm truck and gets the job done.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I actually over a month ago, chopped the exhaust on my 6.5 and put glasspacks with a curve pipe and 4in tips behind the glasspacks that come out before the rear wheels.

That is so odd it has a 6-lug setup, with the 6.5 and 4l80e, very unsusal combo. if that was a Straight axle i'd be alll over it. i dig the detroit wheels & love that new exhst sounds. can't beat a v8.

Lift blocks are garbage don’t know why people just don’t get the lift leaf springs pack much better an safer than blocks
That's what they put in the kit. Upgrade in the future.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I understand but when u order a kit your giving an option of lift blocks or spring package most people get the blocks because it’s cheaper but take my word it’s not worth not spending the extra to do it right iv had the blocks an found out how dangerous they were when they break
