Love my 95 with stock 305. 416k miles , same tranny and engine. Replaced water pump once , distributor and carb rebuild.. that’s it. Drive it about 600 miles a week as I work out of it. Best truck on erf
I usually don't own cars long enough to even change the tires. I have a 10yo car with 3k miles also. It awesome to see the opposite with a guy who keeps the same truck for decades.
doesnt make enough power to break anything thats why. my best friend has the same truck and that engine is a pile !
@@dannyipwn1203sometimes reliability is worth more than horsepower.
The stance and those wheels are dialed! I agree the finish matches the paint really well, hyped on this build!
Thanks man!
That stance is EXACTLY RIGHT, DAMN boys you did a good thing here 🤘😎
Thank you!
I like your vision and purpose for the OBS. Good luck and will be watching for updated content on it.
Thank you!
LETS GO!!!! The OBSs are going to be crazy this year!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Friends have been sending me pics of this truck because it’s just like my 88 short bed. Finally found your channel when it popped up on bangshift. Instant subscribe to see these projects
Awesome! So cool and welcome!
This is the exact setup I was lookn at from pro performance earlier this week! Thank you for this excellent video!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thats gonna be off the chain here shortly!!! I'll be keeping my eye on this build!!! Cant wait to see when it comes off the chain guys!! Got a 95 GMC RCSB with the same color scheme, this has got me rethink"n" my 5/6 drop options, thanks for the time to post this vid up!! And not cutting a bunch of build time out, thanks!!
For sure!
Love this! Production value high. Legitness even HIGHER!!
Looking SICK!
Thank you
Awesome project. Need to get me one. It's crazy how much better the right stance and wheels and tires makes on a truck.
Every time
Love how you add in the explanation of the parts in text. I subscribed, great video will be checking out more videos soon.
Awesome, thank you!
Stance is killer! Excited to follow this project!
Thank you!
Digging the react suspension kit looks like a quality coil over set up you can do in your driveway w hand tools.....nice job
Thanks! I dig it
Love the stance man. Cant wait to see what you do next .
More to come!
Another project taking its dollars and precedence ahead of Smokey Bear. I understand these parts for this truck are likely free to you as a sponsorship and you want to get the OBS crowd over on the channel for practical channel growth, etc., etc., but we've been patiently waiting on that big sexy ole K30 CC SRW to get finished up! Bring back Smokey Bear, Robbie!! We've been waiting at least a year!!
It’s a fair point. Noted. Thanks for watching.
Always love watching your vids man. Also, always funny to me how completely opposite we are on the first steps of a build. That’s what makes this hobby fun to share! Look forward to seeing you again in Conroe.
That's awesome! Thanks as always man
Looks like a nice kit! Having Mike help is always a plus!! Can’t wait to see this in person 😎🤟🏻🇺🇸
You got that right!
I’m so excited to see this truck manual swapped. This is going to be an amazing build
You and me both!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKScheck the rz light company just put there rear tails and third brake light in my truck there really good quality cleans up a truck fast
Ahh...a trip back to the 'mid-'90s for me😎 I had a dark blue, almost black, '89 Silverado RCSB...5/7 drop, 15" billet Centerlines, rollpan and all the period correct trimmings....miss that truck! Staying on topic😊....You've got the makins' of another killer truck...looking forward to more on Brownie!😎😎😎
Thanks, Doug! It’s crazy how many of these trucks evoke those memories for us. I love it
Love it! Brownie is looking GOOD! I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the ride at that height. I have a ext cab with a 4/6 belltech drop but would like to go 5/7. Also, cannot wait for the BROWNIE shirt, I'll be rocking one of those when that merch comes up! 👊💪
We shall see! Still working on rear tire fitment so haven’t driven much
Suspension came out killer, can’t wait to see all the upgrades. It’s gonna be a beast
I sure hope so!
I dig it! I am starting work on an 88 C1500 RCSB and am probably going to use React parts after watching this!
Awesome!
Love the truck, Robbie. Hope to see it and you at C10's in the City this year.
Great time for an OSB Build.. Never heard of ReAct until you Robbie. Going to check into what they have for my 2002 NSB. which is going down all around...
Yes sir! They make great stuff and know OBS trucks
Love the look! That stance and wheel combo 🔥
Appreciate it!
Goals!!!!!! Just ran into your channel and I must say you guys got me to like and subscribe! I'm working on a 93 re doing the whole interior first!
Awesome! Thanks so much
Man, I gotta get started on my ‘88!! This one is looking killer. Hope I get to see it soon 😎
Thanks man! You’ve got a pretty rad truck yourself!
I love the stance on the truck and the funky music at the end of the video. 🤠👍
Right on! Thanks for watching
Love the wheels. Really making me want to work on my 89 Silverado
Go for it!
Dude your videos are al says the best ! I can’t wait to see what Mike and the Guys do to this truck !!!! Exciting !
Thank you so much!
Awesome video thank you
That React 4-link kit looks amazing!
It really does
Oh Hell yeah brother....damn
1988 shortbed, such an epic truck
Thanks man!
gorgeous color combo !!!
I agree - wish it were a tad nicer truck but that's on me. lol
Like the video, informative. Can't wait to do my '73 C20
Thanks for watching
Great video of the steps of putting that React 4 link together. Most TH-camrs just cut to a finished product.
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate you watching
I’ve never worked on a truck or vehicle in general but I got a 76 Chevy c10 Scottsdale and started messing with it recently
I have my grandfathers sandlewood 88 short bed Silverado two tone interior very similar truck.. love the progress on this one 👊🏼 Subscribed brother keep it up
Awesome!
Sick wheels set up on this truck. Killed build.
Thank you. Much more to come
Looking forward to seeing the truck progress
Thanks!
Dude!!! Great video!! I like the 4 link set up!!! I have a 94 obs!!! It needs that exact set up!!✌️
Thanks for watching!
When I ordered new calipers for my 84 I had two different colors too. Glad to know it’s actually a thing 😅
So strange right?
Nice job men...that stance is 💯
I love it
Didn’t used to love the OBS but between this one and the new motion race works truck, they’re growing on me!
They’re great trucks
Love that body style. You got it looking good sir.
Thank you kindly
Great video. Good work.
Thank you very much!
It looks so good! 🤘
Getting there!
LOOKS SICK.......stance is sweet
Thanks!
Wheel color and stance came out so good man
Thank you. Still dialing it in but can’t wait to show you guys progress. These are my favorite types of builds.
@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I’ve been wanting build an OBS for sometime now. Grew up with my dad having a 1977. What truck would you recommend starting off with? This would be a do it myself build in the garage. I can find a lot of long beds. Short beds are tough. Seems like most are over priced. Don’t have a lot of experience other than TH-cam for shorting a long bed. Shortening this down to one question, what year/s square body would you recommend for first timer to lower rebuild etc? I do have experience rebuilding other cars. Just haven’t done a lot body work. Thanks for your show man. Love this current series you’re doing now. That’s kinda the direction I’d like to go with mine.
Bro I literally asked you for the specs of this truck on a Facebook group! That's awesome to see that you have a TH-cam channel too! You got a sub from me!
Yes sir! Hopefully I answered you there. 😂 if not, let me know what you need and I’ll do my best to answer
I have a 88 2wd dully 5speed and a 90’ long bed 4x4 6” lift and 37 inch tires and a 95 ext cab short bed 4x4 love the obs trucks looking the same truck you are building it’s hard to find them I guess I’ll have to go to a junk yard and buy a cab and just build it frame up
Best bodystyle ever made IMO
Looks great
Thanks!
Truck looks sick ! I think the front needs the same wheel and tire setup as the rear ! It looks meaty and mean.
We’ll get there!
Robbie, those QA1 coilovers on the front aren’t installed correctly. They should be put inside the lower control arm not under it. I think QA1’s instructions used to say to do it the way you’ve got it done but I’m assuming someone had a failure and their instructions now say in bold and underlined lettering to install them on the inside of the LCA. That’s a lot of pressure from the coilover being held on by just bolts.
Also, swapping the stock 1500 calipers to a 2500 caliper is a nice upgrade on these trucks if you have the 1.25” rotors which I know you do because the React spindles will only work with the 1.25” rotors.
Other than that, the truck looks freaking awesome and I’m very excited to see where you take it. Looking forward to seeing you guys at Battle in Bama this year, it should be a damn good time!
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll look into it. Appreciate you watching!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS no problem bud, I’d hate to see you or one of the family members have an incident because of it!
Super dope 👌🏼
Thank you!
Cool!! 🤜🤛
Like the look of this truck
Thanks!
Looking good.
🔧🛠🏁👍
Thanks!
I got the same truck. Interior perfect except seat. Needing one. I got 5 6 drop ready go on.
Awesome! This color combo just does it for me.
FYI- if you plan to autocross, many of the organizers use the SCCA rulebook. The truck needs to be shorter from ground to top of the roof than the track width of the truck (midpoint tire to midpoint tire)
Thank you
Looking good as always. Can’t wait to see progress. Maybe you’ll bring it to “Battle in Bama”?
Hope so
My grandpaws sister had a 88 identical to this one that she left her grandson after she passed. She literally only drove it a half mile twice a week to church and back. Truck literally only had a little over 2500 miles on it when she passed away. Truck is immaculate man. Hes considering LT swapping it but i told him with that low of miles and the shape its in he would be silly to change anything on it.
Wow
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I'll get some pics next time I'm down his way and tag you. Truck Was always stored under a boxed in carport. Her husband had a burgundy 89 swb but a tree fell on it few years ago.
Good video. Bring some Mississippi mud videos also! 🤙
Got some in the works!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS awesome ! Can’t wait!
That front shock bottom should be setting on top of the control arm when you go to a higher rate spring or harder driving. Otherwise the bolts are loaded in tension. you can rip the bolts through the control arm if anything moves around.
Yep. I learned that, too, through this process. Appreciate the help!
Cool team
Thank you
I also would have to weld it to the frame
Did you have to go with the 1.25” heavy duty front rotors and calipers? I have a 88obs as well (long bed) and I’m looking to do the same thing. I’ve got a 6L LS block and heads at the machine shop now.
Yes, I did. Exactly as React recommends. Worked perfectly.
looks nice, always wanted OBS, damn hard to find shortbad here in Europe. one quick question, is ot OK that frames bends when you lower the truck ( min36 of the video), if you look on the gap between cab and bad it narrow to upside when car hits jacks/ground.
I'll check it out, but I think that's just nature of bed coming off of lift - or it could've been that rear tires were pushing bed forward since it rests right on the inner fender lips in rear.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS yeap could be because of tires
Is there a reason that you didn’t paint the frame where the notch is? I’m questioning rust under the bracket. Also, is it not necessary to weld the notch in once it is located properly?
You had me at "manual swap" 🥰😍🥰😍
I’m so pumped
Damn that Truck is Killer
It’s getting there
Gmt 400. Obs is like a 22 model at this point
I had a 1989 back in 1995 , was the best vehicle I ever owned, put 305 /50s on the back and 295 /50s on the front , lowered it 3" in the front and 4" back, it was the runningist sombitch ever made, outrun everything built in 95 , red light to red light , my favorites were 95 mustang GT's , handed them their ass every time , the only thing that ever out distanced me was a 1995 Caddy with a Northstar on a high speed hiway race
Love that!
I have this same model truck but a 89 2500
Wheel seal was put in backwards just a fyi. Truck is looking killer.
I know! I caught it after but left it in footage. You guys are eagle eyes lol
Love the wheels!! What color are they?
Burnt bronze center with matte black barrel then matte clear coat
Did that bearing seal on the rotor get put in backwards?
Yep. Good catch. I was moving too fast but caught it before install.
Can I use the rear kit on a crew cab 3500??
Can we see more updates of this truck??? I love it
Of course, been recording some new stuff on it but this one is only four days old lol I’m not currently a post-every-week. I still have a day job lol
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS dude totally understand just watches this whole video through and I want to watch more and it’s surprising you are underrated
Will all this work with a step side obs aswell? as far as the back end components.
Yes sir
So, is this Jawga Mud the sequel to Mississippi Mud? It has the red clay to rock it. Good work on phase 1.
Hilarious! My daughter likes Mud but yeah, we can go with Jawga Mud too 😂
Is the 4 link kit still available by chance? The link is saying page not found😢
I have a 1989 C1500. Chevy short bed . With a L83 Gen 5 5.3 with 4L60 in it. With McGaughys 4/6 drop 20x8 all around tire size p255/55/20
Awesome
Bigger motor in it you can never go wrong with a LS or LT swap
My favorite part is it being an OBS. #obsessed
No doubt!
You have to roll the iner fenders
For sure. Still working on them
Could you tell us what the total parts cost was for the whole suspension drop?
What are your exhaust ideas for this one? I have a ‘95 OBS I desperately need to get going on! Bryan Harrison has me sold on McGaughys on my truck. I’m just not sure on 2/4 or 4/6 and doing the C Notch.
Not quite sure other than getting something on it and making the sbc run reliably first. It will get an engine / trans swap so that will change once it’s in. Right now, just something that doesn’t leak and isn’t loud
Be careful on those bell tech/mcgaughys drop spindles they will severely limit your selection of front offset on wheels
@@pancakebreakfastclub2653I’m pretty much deadset on a 20x8 Torq Thrust with 4.5 BS. So I “hope” I’ll be good!
So the tires rub?
You sure know how to Polish a turd..... What a Transformation on this Truck. Makes me want one even MORE!
It’s my specialty lol
Nice 66 chev y out side
Will this truck possibly make it to the Pro Touring Truck Shootout? It would be awesome to see it there!
That’s the plan
I Like it 👌
Thanks!
88 is hard my guy keep doing great things on point
Thank you!
I think clear headlights and tails and leds will definitely make it look mean
Just saw a moon-pie fall from the sky ! Now make a date with that V8 and let the tires fry!
Thats sick should have went 20s all the way around
what wheels? would look sick on my 95
