I'm considering purchasing the AR Blue pressure washer but would love to know which hoses, connections, foamers etc you would recommend. Perhaps an updated video is warranted? Thanks for this comprehensive video, excellent content. Love how you broke down each component in detail. Last week I picked up the Portland PW for only $75 with coupon. Immediately threw out the handle, hose, proprietary soap dispenser and sprayer. Picked up everything you suggested, except I went with a 50ft hose. Works GREAT!
    Quick question: I want to add quick disconnects to the Portland and the short gun. Should I use 1/4” or 3/8” QDs?

    • @CarsWithKeav

      3/8 for anything from the pressure washer to the spray gun. 1/4 at the end of the spray gun only.

    Damn, those squeals would kill me! I have one and it’s been good to me thus far. If the newer/updated components one does that, I think I may have to look elsewhere when mine dies. IDK.
    But after you used it for a little bit, the squealing/honking sounds… not as high pitched (very slightly), as in the beginning. So maybe, after some use, it will sound better.

    • @CarsWithKeav

      Also, the pressure washer was at microphone height so a little louder than on the floor and the echo chamber that is my garage. I notice it taped off as well. I’m going to try some lubricant and see what happens. Don’t have high hopes because I have heard this exact sound on other brands. I think it is the pressure relief valve.

      To be honest the $20 one is almost the same thing. The casing is the exact same so size and everything is identical. The Mckillans might be a slightly better swivel. I would pick the Sooprinse personally it’s been a great gun so far and the value is so good.

  • @casmithc2

    Keav, do you use PUMP LUBRICANT when you store your pressure washers? I always lubricate my PORTLAND if I am not going to be using it for a while. A DRY PUMP is probably causing the squeeeeel when it shuts off.

    • @CarsWithKeav

      I have not tried any lubricant before, but I will try. I have heard this sound on several other units so I think they share the same pressure release valve which is noisy.

    So would you rate the performance better than the Ryobi 1800 1.2 gpm? It’s now $99 at Home Depot

    • @CarsWithKeav

      From a numbers standpoint the Portland does better from a flow perspective probably 10% better, but the Ryobi is a great machine. It is the most commonly used in a lot of mobile detailer setups. i used one for years until I upgraded to the Active products. You can't go wrong with the Ryobi at $99 and its warranty is far superior. It forma factor is way better and well along with its fittings are a more universal thread pattern that is easily upgradeable. The Greenworks 1700 us another greta buy in this price range.

    In your bear force review video you mentioned the 1.25 was more likely a 1.15. For this video did you use that stock 1.25 or did you use a different one that's truly 1.25?

    • @CarsWithKeav

      I didn’t measure this one as it was for a setup where the pressure washer used was not going to have issues with a smaller orifice. I just went based on what’s in the box without confusing what is most likely a beginner user. Only time it concerns me is with a higher flow pressure washer that is already at the limits of a 15amp circuit on a true 1.25. Based on the Amp difference of 12.5 for the 1.25 and 13.38 for the 1.1 that leads me to believe these are more accurate. If I remember when I get home from work I will check for sure if you need me to.

    • @stephenkim7502

      No need to check. This answers my question as I want to do a setup like this without really modifying anything outside of what you show in this video. Thanks

    For the life of me i cannot get anywhere close to what foam you and others produce using the portland. I hadn't tried 3 different cannons and 5 different soaps including mr pink. 1.1 orfice. I am at a loss but all i get is at best soapy water. Any advice would be great. Only variable is that i have hard water in my city but i don't think that should make that much of a difference??

    • @CarsWithKeav

      Hard water can make a good bit of difference on a machine like this that is lower GPM. Only thing that could help is use warm distilled water in your soap mix that will help mix better and improves foam.

    • @fmaalouf73

    Does it work on gravity feed water supply?

    • @CarsWithKeav

      As long as the gravity feed has enough flow. Normally you need double do what the machine uses. So 1.2 gom machine you need at least 2.4gpm of water flow. This is not self priming so need to be fed enough.
