After having a similar mat system in my garage I went back to bare floor.
Much easier to keep clean, no dirt build up under the mat, no stains or drips creeping underneath when you spill something, no lost fasteners, zero concern about using a floor jack or stands, I can use my creeper again. Sure, it's not as pretty but I really don't care when the mats made it less functional.
Pros and Cons just depends on what you are using but for. If I was working on my cars and doing fluid changes I would most likely run an epoxy floor or something like that. Since we are just storing cars here Inlike that the floor is always clean and rain drainage puddles stay underneath. You can blow them out pretty easy with a leaf blower though.
@@CarsWithKeav does it have a drain system?
@@TheNAVagator They have channels underneath that allow water to flow in the natural direction it normally would without them there also allows airflow to help dry. The same channels can be used to blow the dirt out without taking up the tiles.
Epoxy ftw
@@BFArch0n That is a great option as long as the installer knows what they are doing. Can be easy to screw up an install. I don’t want to try it myself and didn’t want to pay the labor. I still like the tiles myself.
Let the birds sing! They sound lovely!
They do! They just need to hush up while I finish the video. Can’t hear myself think. 🤣
This dude is in Georgia. Swisstrax is in Georgia and the Ribtrax Pro is made in the USA. I get that it's a review but gotta support made in the USA. Glad he showed the durability.
I actually have swisstrax in my wash bay and I have supported them. I have several videos on those as well, but this would be more than twice the cost and couldn’t afford it. Didn’t need the durability I would need in the wash bay as well.
I love all the other options you find! Saving money with great alternatives. For the 2nd garage that is perfect.
It worked out great for sure. Not the best product compares to Swisstrax, but value is off the charts for me.
The bloopers make it. Great stuff
Crazy on the podcast I can talk forever, but the minute the camera comes on I just lose all train of thought.
This channel keeps getting better
Appreciate that!
Even the bloopers 😉But yeah it's one of the very few I have notifications turned on for
@@wescat2 Thank You Bro!
It really does, and it's refreshing to witness/partake in!
Keav, Thank You for doing what you do and helping us save money and taking our garage and car to the next level
You’re Welcome!
Looks great!! Wow! Thank you for the review
You’re welcome
Nice job Keav. I think you just sold me on my flooring for my garage. Looks good and durable enough.
It’s good stuff if you like gray. Seems to only come in one color.
Vevor tiles are cheaper and looks to be the same manufacturer.
@@billm1651 Vevor tiles are 12 x 12 x .6 and different in design and structure. These tiles are 16 x 16 x .75 in size and the ribbons are different. These are just much stronger. If you look at Vevor listings they never mention garage just that they are drainage tiles meant for bathrooms, etc. they were not designed for the abuse a garage floor can have does not mean they won’t work though. I looked at them when researching and they just didn’t have the durability I was looking for. Plus they look much different when laid in a pattern as it’s a different type of design. Vevor tiles also only have two click points when these have 6 making them more secure.
They look just as good or even better 👌🏽🤷🏻♂️🔥
Thx bro!
235 cans of COKE ZERO❤!!!!! What, no tile moon walk? Great bloopers!! lol
I’m getting old and lost my rhythm. 🤣
So Keave. You have a garage for your attached garage? Man. Life goals. :)
Funny thing this was the original plan for the wash bay, but no water hookup and the electrical setup sucked.
Lol, I thought he moved at first and I also looked at the date to see when the video was posted making sure it wasn't an older video lol. Life goals for sure! My two car garage feels like a sardine when both my cars are in it.
@@ImNotMC When we built the house first thing we did was tell them to put in pull down attic steps instead of a stairway that was originally planned so we could save 3 feet of room for the cars. We had the basement to finish if we needed to build another room. The wash bay was my basement storage that I had them put in a full one car garage door and driveway. It was to be our forever house and I was planning ahead 20 years in advance for my midlife crisis shenanigans and didn't even know it. LOL
@@CarsWithKeav LOL, I hear ya! That's awesome, 2 car garage + a wash bay. Now that you have new floors for the garage, any other plans for it? Garage makeover maybe? That would be an awesome series! I'm a sucker for garage makeovers! lol
@@ImNotMC Already did the makeover repainted, new trim and the flooring. New door at some point and that’s it. Just a car storage, but does have an air compressor built into the attic above on a switch and air reel. Did a video on that 3 years ago when this garage was going to be the actual wash bay.
i havd been wanting to do this. I was always concerned about using these with a jack as I work on my cars alot in the garage doing wheels off cleaning and oil changes and such. Glad to see these can hold up to lifting the car. I guess get a few small 1/8" steel plates to put under the jack wheels to help spread the weight would be even better
That would help. I think changing tires and things like that will be fine. I did not test jack stands which tend to have a smaller more blunt footprint. The swisstrax brand can hold 60k pounds rolling weight and hold up to 2500 PSI. You can put a lift on them. These for sure won’t be able to do that and they don’t state the numbers to know the Limitations. You get what you pay for, but this is more than enough for me.
Love the bloopers. 😂
I’m real good at them. 🤣
You mean the entire channel????
@@bobjacksob Loves these comments they help my bloopers channel get more reach. Appreciate the help 🙏
Looks awesome great job.
Thank you
That's a great tip to start from the side with the window so they click in easy. I would have guessed to start at the door. So any tiles you cut are furthest away, less likely to be seen. 😁👍
Greta thing about the pattern it hides the smaller cut tiles unless you are looking for it.
Looks Great!
Thanks 🙏
I would some type of wide board to displace load. Great product !
That is a great idea!
As always great video!!!
Still waiting on that Kranzle video tho!!!!
Next video on Thursday
I feel better...I know there's somebody with more Sam's Club flats of Coke in their garage than me...seriously, good find, this is now on my list of weekend projects!
The amount of flats depends on how often we shop at Sams. We always buy the max of 5. After Covid we always keep more stock of anything. Sometimes there are a few and sometimes there could be 10. 🤣
Rocking a Mr. Sam t-shirt!!!
Love Mr. Sam nice dude met him at the Freedom 500 race.
"Don't tell Matt I have a Giraff Tools over in the corner" lmao. They had a vacuum hose and reel system I was curious about, will probably just piece together my own vac system in the future at some point. I'm always pulling out the vac hose for something
I’m probably going to piece something together later this year. Have not tried the Giraffe one. Matt loves Giraffe Tools!
@@CarsWithKeav 🤣
Ohhh nooo!!!! 🫢
Something to remember is that the garage lights will turn off by themselves unless you have your feet obstructing the signal light that does the detection so the garage doors open back. Also, you can turn on that light and keep it ON at the gate control box, at least mine does.😜 Anyway, if it turns off don't worry about it and just continue since you did already an awesome job.
Mine won’t stay on even if you use the light button on the control box. It has a motion sensor it uses when the door is already open. It’s the OCD on the lightning it bothers me so it has to be on. 🤣
Nice. I might be able to do that
Awesome!
I know I keep saying this but your bloopers are the best! I thought u lost your train of thought B4 realizing u paused bc of a car lol.
After finishing up my pressure washer project, garage flooring is next on my list to replace my decade+ old floor mats. I saw pics on Amazon of different color tiles but didn't see any. I had thought about doing patterns with diff colors. Did u see any by chance?
“I hate filming up here” and I mean it! 🤣 I have not seen other colors yet hopefully they sell
well and start having other colors.
Thanks for doing the jack and hammer test. It’s obvious the Amazon tracks are less quality but for half the price I’ll just go with these.
Agreed, like you are not doing engine swap every day
@@Carlos.Rivera and if you were, and broke a couple, it costs half to replace!
Everything I need don’t plan to hit it with a hammer and have extra to fix any that might break.
I hope I won’t be. 🤣
Nice… I might have to do this
It’s a great upgrade.
I wish I lived in an area where I could have these. Northern Illinois winters would be a disaster for these.
If you have good drainage they work well for
Snow melt. If not it will be a salt mess to clean up in the spring.
I might have to get me some of these. Half of hour garage we use as a gym and we have the 3/4" horse mats so I would only need to do half my garage with this.
That should work.
Well done.
Thanks!
Use left overs for under ground filters in aquariums
That’s a great idea.
Been a minute since seeing this garage. Reminds of Ole days where your videos was recorded and the driveway out front and you backed out from the garage. Nice idea to upgrade this one too, looks nice.
How's the driveway leveling holding up?
Driveway leveling is holding up great. We couldn’t get it to where we wanted without cracking the slabs, but way better and I have sealed them off to make sure no water gets underneath again.
Looks great I would like something like this. Have you tried power washing this yet to get out all the dirt that accumulates underneath over time.
This upper garage really doesn’t get much of anything needing a pressure wash, but you can also do it with the tiles still down if you have good drainage. I have done this in my wash bay you can take them out in big chunks. Here is the video th-cam.com/video/9dgkHnQQv5c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_vVJIR4S8v2yDVhk
Really nice and the installation looms great! As far as Jack s5a do and floor jacks…is this type of flooring strong enough and durable enough to manage this kinds of tools! I am restoring / rebuilding a Porsche 914 and they are constant in my life until the engine gets back in. My garage is 18x30 and this looks like a great option for me.
It hold up to jacks pretty well don’t know about an engine hoist or jack stands. I know the Swiss Trax will hold up to all that abuse. They hold 60k lbs rolling weight and 2500 PSI of pressure.
Great video, thanks for doing it! I do have one question, when you turn your wheels of your car, does these or Swiss tracks warp or displace? That is one thing that I’ve seen a lot of with this type of flooring, especially the half-inch ones. I’m hoping because these are 3/4 of an inch, these will hold up better.
Only problem is if you turn full lock and try to turn on them and not doing it slow. Also positive traction cars doing full turns can have issues. The thicker tile will help and having it locked into place food. I have not tried to know just like half turns to maneuver a car to a better position. In know lots of mechanic shops and collector showrooms who use them and have no issues.
@@CarsWithKeav thanks!
I would put a board down under that jack. Just sayin'. Good stuff!
I would as well just testing out the strength without one.
You are supposed to leave a quarter inch gap on all sides to allow for expansion. You might see it bow up, especially in the heat (speaking from personal experience.) Easy enough to fix later, though.
My 3rd floor doing this I have a good size gap on the opposite side and I had the tiles in the garage during 90 degree heat and they were laid when it was very hot. Most of the expansion hopefully should already have happened. We will find out in July and August if my plan fails worst case easy trimming. Thanks for the advice!
Do these tiles come in smooth format like rib trax pro smooth. Reason I ask is it’s much easier to roll equipment with wheels over the smooth tiles vs ribbed.
I have not seen them in smooth. I almost did the smooth in my wash bay, but many said they tended to be more slick when wet. You can get logos and other things printed on the smooth ones too.
Looks great. Are these a PITA to keep clean? Will dirt and debris build up over time?
You never see the dirt and debris it hides underneath. Always clean unless you have so much dirt it starts coming out the top, but you can also blow out the dirt while it’s on the floor as it has channels for the air to flow down. You take them out once or twice a year and blow out the dirt. Maybe a quick wash if needs as it’s plastic so doesn’t stain. Here is a video I made of my first clean out. th-cam.com/video/9dgkHnQQv5c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=07_b6__qfMI_gVep
Another great one Keav! Question: Are you able to turn the wheels on a car when stationary on these and/or the Swisstrax?
You can on Swisstrax, just have to be careful when on the edge.
You can turn just fine you just have to be careful of full lock and if you have positive traction. I’ve seen some crazy videos of the tiles being twisted and ripped up with a Corvette trying to do a 90 degree turn and that was on swisstrax.
Agreed and just take it slow.
Yeah so when dirt and debris ends up in your garage it's gonna be inside those floor inserts. You'd have to use a shop vac to clean your garage. Trying to use a leaf blower like you suggested would just send all the dirt straight back up at you trying to blow a leaf blower on the floor like that
I don’t have any problem with using a leaf blower. Use it in this floor and my other garage no problem. The channels underneath are different that the ones on top and are designed to allow the air to flow underneath. Even if you don’t you just take them out in sections and clean if needed. Takes 15 minutes to move them at most. 4 to 5 large sections usually. These tiles are not for everybody, but I love them and many others do as well.
Nice huge transformation. It does make a significant improvement. Did the coke Sato help you move that fast?
It’s was the coke for sure. Zero sugar Colombian Bam Bam stuff. 🤣
Could you get to small L brackets and drille them into the post and on each side of the dent so that it doesn’t pop out? I don’t know if it would work, but it’s like $15 in hardware vs a new garage door.
The structure going across is broken so you have to mount a solid piece across multiple panels like I did with the upper part. I just need to do the same on the bottom. You can buy repair structures, but they are crazy expensive. My wife wants a new door to change the style so we are getting a new one regardless as she gets what she wants. 🤣
Nice!!!!
Thx
This looks like the first viable knockoff I've seen (most are far thinner and cheaper looking). I have one big question though (and I suspect I may know the answer)...how is the slip resistance when wet/soapy/snowy?
Slip resistance was a big selling point for me with the Swisstrax over competitors like Racedeck. They have a friction modifier blended into the plastic that provides a ton of grip to shoes in wet conditions.
I never slip on my swisstrax. I’ll will see how slippery these are and let you know. The swisstrax plastic is different for sure and way more durable. To the touch it feels the same, but once you get water or soap on it can be real different.
I can hear Matty ranting now. "Who the hell is giraff??? is it mr.giraff, is it mrs.giraff??"
Can’t wait till he finds this Giraffe though. I know I’m not looking for them. 🤣
I have a question what do I need to do in order to rinse and wash the cars inside the garage? What do I do with the walls? What if they get wet?
If they are drywall you just have to be very careful not to overspray. I don’t wash in this garage because my floor is horribly unlevel and doesn’t drain well at all. I created a wash bay in my basement garage and lined all the walls with vinyl sheets.
very nice
Thanks 🙏
All of the connections were linear. Any directions about offsetting each row, so a new tile in the next row spanned the joint of two tiles in the previous row?
I have never heard of this being possible due to how the connections are made which is why you have to cut every piece to fit. I’ve tried before, but will see with my extras and respond back if it does work. You would also have weird patterns as the shading of the checkered pattern will no longer match.
I prefer a painted floor but these look nice.
It’s all in what you like. It’s nice to have so many options though. I like painted as well, but most all don’t do well with hot tires unless you spend out and go full resin epoxy.
Whts the diff from just having the car on the reg floor compared to the tiles? water will get down under it anyway. Did u fix ur garage to be able to wash ur cars inside without worrying about mold and water damage to ur paint? just curious on ur setup. good video 👏
My garage wash bay has vinyl sheets on the walls and ceiling to stop water damage and mold. Main reason for these is the looks, floor is always clean, it’s always dry and slip resistant. The slats and channels allow plenty of airflow so the water will just act like it did before, but now you don’t step in the puddles from the rain or snow melt.
😂 sounds about right backing into the garage door.
Par for the course.
Just curious about how to clean under the tiles when dirt and debris accumulate on the concrete?
You can blow them out with a leaf blower or wash them out if you have good drainage. Plenty of air channels underneath for the dirt to get out. Once or twice a year you can take out huge sections easily and do a full clean out and see the dirt level so you’ll know how to handle the next time.
It looks like they only have one color option? Are there other systems that are compatible with these to add color? I wanted red in my design.
I have not seen any other colors yet. Hopefully they are starting out with one color and try some more.
Just pull it up in the spring and clean under them. That sounds horrible 😅. They do look really nice, just practical for a garage that gets used.
Sounds like a lot, but I have gotten a good system down I can take all this out in 4 or 5 sections taking maybe 10 minutes to take up and put back. You can leaf blow them during the year as well so not a lot is there than one time a year you spring clean.
What do you do with all the dirt and debris that falls through the holes in the tiles? Sounds like a nightmare to keep clean.
It’s quite easy you can leaf blow them out easily their are air channels to move out debris. I take them up twice a year and clean out if needed. They can be taken out in huge sections and out back easily.
this is very cool. Have about the same size garage myself and already bought an epoxy kit that we on liquidation which is one of many future projects. If we hadn’t I’d seriously consider this an option but the grime and dirt would be a big issue for me. We live in a 4 season area so lots of slush tents to accumulate and I use squeegees to keep it from accumulating.
I ended up buying my garage tiles off Alibaba - $1000 for enough 16x16 tiles to do my detached 22x30 garage and attached 20x20 garage + $800 to ship by sea...same from Swisstrax or Racedeck would have been something like $6k. There are an annoying amount of manufacturers and similar products but the quality ones have no top side injection molding divots (super annoying when your floor is laid out) and are typically 630+ grams per tile (for 16x16 anyhow). You can use the Swisstrax 3d designer to layout what you want your garage to look like, and it gives you the exact amount of tiles you'll need (free)
That’s a great deal and even if they aren’t the same durability of a swisstrax at least you can have a ton of replacements if a tile gets damaged and won’t cost much.
@@CarsWithKeav Swisstrax / RD actually sent me samples (randomly, I guess because I showed interest in them) and the tiles I ended up getting are surprisingly better. It wouldn't surprise me if the manufacturer supplies either one of them or both. But beyond the tiles - the people I dealt with for the tiles and also having them shipped were fantastic - I had to have them locally moved from the manufacturer to the shipper, and they then had it sent over sea, no effort on my end other than paying a little more to have them truck the boxes to the shipper.
@@jasonbarner9931 That’s great they can be just as good. Probably not the same manufacturer. In the U.S. Swisstrax is made here about and hour from me in Dalton Ga. When I bought the Swisstrax from Obsessed Garage for my wash bay it only took a day for them to be delivered free shipping.
Nice job on the video. Any possibility of you doing a review of the Vevor 20V cordless 6-Inch brushless dual action polisher on the A site? It's currently only $60 for the one battery version.
I can put in on the list. I’m not very confident yet in my DA skills to properly review one yet. Only done a few cars so far. Practicing on my hood panel.
@@CarsWithKeav FAB detailing recently did a review of the Walmart polisher. Pretty straight forward. He just tested it on a test panel and looked at things such as vibration, ergonomics, noise level and if the pad stalls out easily or not on different speed settings. It seems it would be a good category of review products to add to your channel.
@@bswan25 Imjoshv just reviewed it as well.
Doesn’t that flooring allow for a place for mold to grow? What’s the point in this flooring?
It has hundreds of slits and channels for air to flow and evaporate water not sure how mold is going to grow. Its a way to always have a clean floor to walk and work on especially if doing any car cleaning like rinse less wash. Hiding that stained concrete floor as well. Plus its not permanent like epoxy so you cant uninstall sell it or put it somewhere else.
After seeing my Swisstrax garage, a friend bought these copies, they look great but over time the plastic became brittle and required frequent tile changes.
Well at least I got about 250 or so tiles before the Swisstrax become the better deal. 🤣 I have swisstrax in my lower garage wash bay, but 440 sq ft in this garage was just too much money for Swisstrax. We shall see if it was the right decision.
@@CarsWithKeav I hear ya… in hindsight I shouldn’t have spent 13k on Swisstrax.
@@zfilmmaker That’s a big garage!
@@CarsWithKeav 10 cars.
Looks great, but what about dirt build up, bugs, oil spills (if any). What do you have to do? Try to hose it out? Blow it out? Vacuum it out? (all of the above). Seems like it would be a pain in the ass. (all the crisscrossing ribs of the tiles would trap the dirt and crap). Besides looking nice.....what really are the advantages? I would love to do this to my garage floor, but not sure if it would become a hassle.
"Seems like it would be a pain in the ass." That's what I was thinking. Every time you open the garage door dust is coming in, crap falling out of pockets and the cars, etc. Something like would be great for someone that doesn't just like messing with their cars, but loves it. They'd be wiling to devote the time and effort to keeping it clean.
Does not take me any longer to clean than before. The crisscross is only on the top there are channels underneath specifically designed to allow your leaf blower to blow the dirt out and the same channels allow liquids to drain without blocking them. I take up once a year for a deep clean and you can take these out in huge sections no need to take up every tile. Biggest reason I get these is the floor you are walking on is always clean. Even before I rarely cleaned my garage floor it was always dirty. You can vacuum as well and you can pop a single tile to clean a spill if you need to. Knowing if you have a bug problem would be the big drawback, but I’m up on my insecticide applications pretty regular and don’t have those issues. I’ve had the swisstrax in my wash bay for two years now and it was well worth it.
No extra effort to clean at all takes the same amount of time to leaf blow these as I did before. Channels under the tiles are built to allow airflow to clean out and allow liquids to drain. You can easily take up one tile to clean a spill if needed. Many auto and detailing shops use Swisstrax and love them and they get worked on all the time. The floor you walk on is always clean. Had the swisstrax in my wash bay for a few years and love them. I’ve dropped tons of nuts and bolts and have not lost one yet to under the tiles. The openings are not as big as they look.

Great to know. I may pull the trigger on this product in the near future. Thank you for reaching out.
@@gourmet53 No problem.
Weird question...how are they walking on with bare feet? My garage is also my pool house/bar, so I go in and out a lot to the beer fridge and when I'm playing bartender.
It’s not comfortable to walk on barefoot and my cat doesn’t like walking on it either. It is bearable for a short distance. I am always wearing shoes when I don’t really want to when working in the garage because of it.
Good Lord! Only Tony Montanya had more coke!
🤣🤣🤣
OBSERVATION nice vid. The beemers exhaust sounds like a fart. Would be better with a low growl
Can only get the sound the engine style makes with inline 6 and turbo. Doesn’t sound great at idle, but sounds good under load and going in higher rpm.
Did you call it a 3-4” tile in the beginning?
3/4 inch meaning how tall it is. They are 15.7 x 15.7 length and width.
You are going to need a monster vacuum to pick up debris between the tiles and the actual floor.
You can leaf blow them out just like any floor. Air and drain channels underneath allow you to drain water out if your floor is sloped correctly and you can get dirt out pretty easily.
Will they snap into existing Swiss Trax?
Sort of, the flat side of the Amazon product clicks into the ribs of the Swisstrax, but doesn’t work on the other side. Same with the ramps they have to be the flat side ramps or it won’t work.
Oooooo that shit came out beautiful, great job man!
Thank You!
Just quickly hopping forward to see the floor I noticed the edge row being cut. Never cut edges like he showed. By rotating the tile 180* and cutting VS flipping the tile upside down and cutting could potentially make your tile have gaps. If the wall isn’t square or parallel to the field tiles, your short side gap and long side gap between tile and wall will be cut reversed. Meaning the left side of the tile will be cut to fit the right side gap between the wall and field tile. Obviously the right side of the tile will be cut to fit inside the left side gap between the wall and field tiles. The tile might not fit properly.
If you flip the tile upside down the short side of the gap and the side of tile cut shorter will be on the same side and fit correctly.
The other issue I have with this flooring is it will trap everything. If using this to elevate you and the car during car cleaning, without drainage, will eventually cause a mold issue. It would be better to seal the floor professionally (with anti-skid) and buy a push squeegee. Worried about hot tire pick up? Wait a few minutes before pulling vehicle into garage.
The floor looks nice and is easy to install.
For sure need drainage if you plan to wash. You should also take these up a few times a year to clean out as well. You would be correct with the cut it was just a pain to mark from underneath and I trimmed to fit and needed a gap for heat expansion. I use this to keep the floor clean and deal with rain water puddles. No way I’m waiting to park my car for hot tires.
I've always wanted to turn my garage into a wash bay, but the cost of doing so is just way above my budget. I have no a drainage on the floor, and drywall isn't designed to get wet, no water pipe line, no outlet close to the garage door, etc. etc. If the garage isn't finished, meaning blank slate no drywall open studs, then it'd much more easier cause I can do whatever I want.
This was going to be the wash bay, but like you mentioned no drainage, no water supply and really two cars you would age to move one all the time to not contaminate it when washing the other. The reason I decided the bottom garage was better as a blank slate. Drywall isn’t to bad though the same panels you would use for the blank slate can go right on drywall.
I have a 4 post lift in my garage and have been thinking of tile. Would this work under my lift? I'd love to get the lift posts off the ground a bit, as any small salt water causes corrosion on the post feet.
The lift itself on them I would go with the Swisstrax they can handle 60k pounds of rolling weight and handle 2500 psi of pressure. I am not sure though so might have to do more research. Most mount the posts to the floor and then place the tiles around them.
Other than looks, what’s the benefit of these?
Floor is always clean is the biggest one. For those in winter the floor is dry even with snow melt. Creates a slip free floor as well. You can wash a car in the garage and no wet floor and plenty of ventilation for the water underneath to drain and evaporate.
UV protection on these?
I am not sure on that I know the Swisstrax are UV resistant people use them I. Their pool deck areas without issue. These are a different type of plastic and they don’t state anything about UV so I wouldn’t have these in the sun all day.
Pretty cool -just use a piece of plywood under your jack and you’re good.
Makes sense others have suggested a metal sheet as well.
Can’t believe I watched this entire video. Feels like this should have been a 5 min video but somehow talked enough for it to be almost 20 min.
Thanks for watching. I don’t like quick videos for short attention spans I prefer a bit longer so I film the style I like to watch. No wrong or right just we all do things different.
@@CarsWithKeav That's cool. Just a bit of feedback.
@@ESmith I appreciate the feedback for sure. Believe me this would have been 30 minutes a few years ago. I cut out a lot of fluff as like this video was 3 hours of footage originally. It’s also hard sometimes to do a review and keep a personal touch with your normal audience. Many are there for my personality as much as the products. It’s a tough balance. Once again I appreciate the feedback.
I watched the entire video, now I have diabetes. Thanks a lot.
@@bobjacksob You’re welcome, maybe now you’ll lay off the sugar. Everything happens for a reason.
Did you see how much it would cost for them to come out and put that ceramic coating on your floor
I have not, but didn’t really want epoxy and knew it would be way more than these tiles.
polyaspartic > epoxy
Only dude on the planet that doesn't call them "Kiwi Tile" 😅
I’ve never heard anybody ever call them that and I’ve seen tons of them in many garages. For sure not something most Americans would call them. 🤣
@@CarsWithKeav We started using them 26yrs ago in professional sports car racing. Long before they made it into anyone's garage. They originated from a New Zealand based company (KIWI TILE) Attend **any professional sports car event and look under the transporter awnings. KIWI TILE :) Promise.
With regards to your Land Rover leaking. Pretty sure it's the steering gear. Years ago I had a range Rover and bought a seal kit and redid it and it blew out a couple days later... The problem is in the design for the high pressure Teflon seals on the worm gear. Even if you get them new they are inferior quality and will always go bad. I posted a solution for this on a Land Rover forum years ago and the guy that sold the parts I used couldn't understand why he was getting orders from all over the world 🤣. I don't remember the part number so if you're steering gear is leaking and you're reading this this is what you will need to do to permanently fix it...
First, get yourself a low pressure seal kit cuz you're going to need that to finish it but you won't have to buy another one after that. Disassemble the steering gear. It's not as hard as you think and as far as special tools I ended up buying a plumbing nut that fit the access plug then put The nut in a vise and set the gear on top and turned it. Once you have a completely disassembled you'll see three high pressure Teflon seals that go into the boar. Take the bore and the worm gear with the seals on it to a hydraulic shop. I took mine to Caterpillar because they were close to where I worked. I'm sure you can go anywhere. They're going to need the measure The outside diameter for the bore as well as the inside diameter of your ring races. What we settled on to fix mine was a combination Teflon ring and o-ring. You remove the Teflon seals off the shaft, apply some automatic transmission fluid and slide your o-rings into each of the races. Then you slide the Teflon gears and pop them on top of the o-rings. The o-ring makes it squishy enough that you can get them into the bore and provides constant pressure against the Teflon ring. The setup is actually the same as what's inside of a hydraulic piston only the added benefit is yours don't move, they don't go up and down they just turn in place so they will last forever. Then you just reassemble and put your low pressure seals in and you won't have any more leaks. Added bonus and mind you this was back in 2006, The o-ring and Teflon seal only cost $0.50 a set. The low pressure seal kit cost $75. If you do this you will never have another leak from your steering gear. If you let Land Rover fix it It will leak again within a few months. I think they redesigned the steering gear box in 2012 so this will work on any of them from the '60s up to 2012 as it was the same POS leaking steering box in all of their s***.
Mine was leaking multiple areas and was oil. Timing belt cover was one place and that ended leading to oil and coolant mixing for some chocolate milk which was fun. The other leak was the oil sensor. Luckily didn’t have any issues with the steering gear. I beat the thing to death off road broke a few axles hood I had scented locking differential to keep going. 🤣
Don’t these tiles just accumulate dirt and grime in all the grooves?
If you don’t clean them they would accumulate just like the floor underneath. You can blow these out just like a normal floor. Channels underneath allow air flow to clear out dirt. It is a good idea once or twice a year to take them up and clean up good. Since all cutting is done it quick and easy to take them out in large sections and out back.
My car names - Clyde the Glide and Theresa
Awesome names!
How do they feel on bare feet?
Not good, Swisstrax makes a smooth top tile that is easy on the feet and people like to use around pools and and patios.
God I love the BMW’s but their maintenance cost is just so much, I had a mini for 10 years and miss it every day but it was so freaking expensive to work on.
Yeah, maintenance costs are crazy and you can’t wait for something to break you are always replacing before it goes out. 🤣
Dirt magnet
Not sure what that means as it would be no more dirt than any flooring choice. Dirt just doesn’t magically float through the air and attract to it. 🤣 It just lays below and you can leaf blow it out like any other floor. Now most just ignore it and it builds up and once a year you take them out and clean. More than worth it either way to me. Not for everybody though.
I would have painted a trim piece instead of cutting all the edges
Not sure what you mean by that can you explain? You mean run them to the drywall then put a trim on top that could be done, but too much was needing to be cut to get them to fit.
@@CarsWithKeav cutting a piece of wood or plastic and laying it on the floor between the wall trim and the plastic trax piece
@@johnqcitizen9177 I see what your saying could work in the smaller section, but the back wall would be 12 inch wide trim.
You should see if Coke will sponsor you.
They will, but it’s. Colombian Bam Bam Coke. 🤣
Seems well worth the money, unless you wanna hit it with a hammer 😂
Yeah, that’s a big downer there. 🤣
Let’s hope you don’t spill anything cuz there’s no cleaning it now
Not true they come up as easy as they go down. Plus a shop vac can suck through the slats. Believe me I’ve used these in many garages.
@@CarsWithKeav but can you pull up just one tile? Looks like you’d have pull up a whole section from the wall. If you have anything else in the garage that would need to get moved. Seems like a huge pain even if it is easy.
@@bighammer3464Yep you can pop up a single tile. Just have to lift the adjacent ones that overlap and pop the tile out. Not a big deal. You can also pop up sections and drag them out periodically to do a deep clean if you want.
You could also... I don't know... maybe use a pressure washer.
@@drewblessing8418 Thanks for answering that for me!
Just don't drop any screws, they'll forever disappear
There is a good thing about that at least they won’t be puncturing a tire if you lose them. 🤣 it has to be a pretty small screw I have yet to have one fall through. Finishing nails is another story, but you can pop a tile up pretty quick to get them.
Magnets?
