13:39 how about injector contribution balance or injector correction compensation live data?

I agree - I would have checked the adaptation data first. Regardless, nice video.

I have been searching around the internet for ideas on how to fix my 2016 Ford Ranger 3.2 V5 Diesel engine. Ford dealership garage gave me a diagnostic report...low compression on cylinder 2. They want to pull down the engine...which seems like a very expensive job. What would you suggest? Thanks for your response!

Please take it to a reputable independent workshop for second opinion. If the diagnosis is same from both places, possibly no choice but too.

Continentals are geniune injector for BT-50 & Ranger & are a high quality part made in Germany.

What did you use to do the compression test? Do you need to download something on computer??

Isn’t it a bit dangerous to be pulling the plug on injectors if they’re piezo’s?? (Unsure exactly if the Duratorq uses piezo’s or not).
I’ve heard of rare cases where pulling the plug with them operating can cause that injector to stick on and dump fuel into the cylinder, potentially causing a massive pre det.

Yeah or no. Depends who's theory you believe on piezoelectric. But this one is just solenoid type so no issue on this car.

@@a1mechanicaloakey639 Ah ok! Good to know that they're solenoid operated.

Those injectors are pizeo injectors....your scan tool should be able to do a injector shutdown test

    • @dieselhog
      @dieselhog ปีที่แล้ว +1

And the injectors are made by continental it is original..they make the fueling system for ford.
      Continental injector #A2C59517051
      Ford injector #BK2Q-9K546-AG
It is the same injector.....it has the same flow on a test bench......
There is some copyright thing with Ford and continental

My bad, it is a piezo type. I got voltage waveform mixed up as current waveform. I thought I didn't see turn off current but I was looking at voltage when i went back to my video when i replied to earlier comment . Thanks for correcting @ dieselhog.

Ford specificli says not to disconnect the injectors when the engine is running.

Where there any symptoms while driving the car to show injector issues?

Do you not recut/reseat the bore of the injector as to make sure the copper washer isn't sitting on any burrs/crap or carbon build up. I'd say that copper washer is bound to fail prematurely as mine did when not recut/reseated by a back street garage. I even mentioned it to the so called mechanic when I was watching and he said nah it will be OK. Few hundred miles later, it was chuffing away so bought a recutting tool, a copper washer and stretch bolt and did it myself. Oh the mechanic near stripped the retaining thread by trying to put the stretch bolt back in which thread was stretched on and scratched his head wondering why it wouldn't screw in. Telling me he thinks my head needs to be helicopter after he got power ratchet to bolt trying to screw it in. I told him to stop and got a normal m8/m10 (can't remember which) bolt to prove thread OK on head and went and ordered a stretch bolt and it went in fine. Never went back to him again.

It depends how much rubbish is build up on the surface. If it's not bad just give it a quick wipe and blow with some carby cleaner we good. Main thing is can't have deep scratches.

Maybe you ought to edit your videos, to make them more enjoyable to listen to. As you take too much and tell us your thinking which is massively confusing and I for one found your video Brill in experimenting but crap in knowledge being a FORD engineer, you really need to edit and plan and make them flow as though you know exactly what your doing.... but thanks for your effort....
