I followed their tour with columbians from seattle summer music games to Drums along the Rockies Denver, and they didn't play it ever, it was rumored that they played it at denver which was the only lot I didn't go to.
I was watching this lot! THANK YOU for capturing the baritone sectional. Everybody else seems to be forgoing their sectionals to capture the trumpet feature
I was just thinking to myself how damn good the baritone section sounds...they start playing F to the end and at 24:40 every hair on my body stood up and I got the chills. Even on youtube the Blue Devil hornline can bring you to tears!!
Glad to see dci on the channel. Have a strong respect for both sides of the spectrum. First time seeing drum corp bands was back in 2012 in Charlotte, NC. Loved it ever since. Please post more of this Kev!
Everybody is human, nobody is immune, and that’s the only time that happened probably. It’s not about the mistake, it’s about the recovery and learning process, and BD is one of the best at it.
Cool post! I did these kinds of exercises with my section when I was at FAMU a few years back. Really helped the intonation and power of the horns. (Especially on French horn mouthpieces with bits into mellos it can be a bit unstable and difficult to play with constant power.) The sound of my section also improved at FAMU when I got my entire section to use the same brand of mouthpiece. I said that to say, these cats have all that, same mouthpiece, horn, plus these warm ups. I love hearing their warm ups. Unfortunately, I tried sitting through some shows and basically fell asleep because they all sounded the same lol (Call me basic)
A non hbcu on this page is a blessing in disguise. I wish there was a band that was the perfect blend between hbcu style bands and drum & bugle corps style bands
Was expecting them to hold out that chord at 24:32 like I've mostly heard. Mind blown. Hearing music in the lot vs. the field is so different, for the better.
It would be great if we had more African Americans that could appreciate this type of style and actually participate.. as the inventors of show style , we tend to pull away from proper learning and technique.
i think it's more systemic than that. aka it's not that African Americans aren't as capable of appreciating this style or learning it, but that they're not in places that teach appreciation of this style or make participation accessible.
I'm just saying I'm African American and marched drum corps for 4 seasons now and I rather march this than a "HBCU" I appreciate this style of music because it made me the musician I am today!!!!!!
Damn I was at the Western Regional in the Alamo Dome and they Were super clean. Just the show was kind of boring. Brass and Battery are clean but just the show had to many Solo parts which hurt the show. It was fine when the first won twice but after time it gets old. But BD always clean
Jeremy Macias all high brass is using the crappy system blue mouthpiece, not sure about low brass. Think of a Hammond being at a 10 and System Blue at 4.
@@tylerfuckinsmith8034 As a trumpet player that's played on many pieces, they don't suck. They're just different. Schilke vs Bach vs whatever else. Just different. They have a brand so they use their brand.

+Tomaz Hilton It was awesome!
Yes finally you should hear the Blue Devils play Space chords
+Dayon Graves I've heard them play it before. One of the members said they don't really play it much anymore.
Killa Kev Productions yeah I've noticed that
Killa Kev Productions yea, cuz every other Corp started doing it, so, but they are one of the most innovative brass sections ever.
Dontrell Hickbottom true

i prefer the blue devils over any college band any day. loved this corp since forever.
Miyala Peters college bands and DCI are like highschool football vs. NFL
Yes but DCI got least time to put there stuff together.
Darious Curry DCI has half a year lol

My person opinion.... if they did show style music, they would be a real problem. Everything about them is good

Why is HBCU in quotations lol
That's a little racially tinged, don't you think? They're every bit as capable of musicians as the next human being. Listen to some HBCU wind bands.
exactly.
