I find putting it into nurburgring mode, you get more and louder pops and bangs. Especially when letting off around 4 - 4.5 rpm. Had mine for almost a year and wasn't aware of the automatic lane change feature! Cool!

Ah I just realised I don't have automatic lane assist. It requires you to have Park Assist feature which I didn't spec this on mine :(

about self driving : do you have to grab the steering wheel with your hands or do you just have to sightly touch the steering wheel like in BMW ?
Slightly touch is enough
The Golf 8 R is not perfect but the looks and performance are really awesome. The best daily driver and sportcar since my other favourite Golf, the R32.

topspeed runs moet ge 's nachts doen nooit overdag tenzij ge u remmen snel wilt laten slijten. De beste autobahn die ik ken voor vmax runs zonder veel verkeer zelfs overdag is de A60 tussen prüm en wittlich.

I have the new one just like you but my race doesn’t have the extended drift mode how do you get it? Is it something in the settings ?
You need to have the performance pack. If you do not have it you also will not have the big rear spoiler.
Seems like performance pack is unavailable since some time. I ordered Golf 8R a month ago and have realized that I won't have the drift mode as well :( a bit bummed and haven't really found in the internet whether u can enable it or not somehow
@@szafrankk i had the same when i went to a volkswagen dealer. Thats why i chose a car they had in stock. I dont know the reason but i suspect its got to do with the new 8,5 coming up
The Performance pack is standard with the new 2024 Golf 8R with 333hp instead of the normal 320hp. Ask your local VW dealer.
@@tietewiet maybe in the USA. In the Europe I don't recall seeing 8R with 333hp.
ESC sport or OFF? i'm confused. and in what mode?
I think for launch control you have to put it OFF, but i’m not 100 percent sure.
@@deniz-auto Sport also works, no strict requirement for off. Just can't have it fully on.

Is the right side "R" logo light broken already?
Negative. Is that a thing?
Yes apparently it is. If you look closely at the R logo projector light on the passenger side of the car (you even stopped there for a while around 1:42) the letter has a big white spot of light in the middle. The same thing happen with Cupra Formentor VZ (310 hp) and it’s a known issue. They repair the light projectors under warranty.
Omg i swear i have the same issue! It was not like this in the video yet so should have happened in the last few days! 😂
@@deniz-auto well that’s what I pointed out above, the light projector seems to be broken. I drive a Formentor VZ5 that has the logo light as well but a different one than the VZ (VZ5 symbol instead of Cupra logo), and have had no issues so far (around 15k km right now). If your car is still under warranty go to your dealer. They should fix this.

It was definitely close. Also lucky i was not pushing the car at that moment. I did not because i read the traffic, it was quite busy and was looking out for exactly this to happen. To give the red t-roc some slack. It was busy, trucks in second lane. Normal he moves to third. No hard feelings 👍🏻

Yeah i filmed it with a gopro inside the car. It went into winds noise reduction mode and you couldn’t hear anything anymore. You should watch my newest video, i put a gopro on the outside and it has a pure crazy exhaust sound. With loads of pops 👍🏻

Wtf...this car has 315 horsepower, it's a 4cyl engine (non-diesel) and yet it gets WAY better MPG than crappy Civic with 4cyl engines and only 124 HP.
Haha i don’t know about that car but this one does 7,5L-8/100km easily on 120km/h speeds cruise control

I would say this Golf R has an outstanding virtue and two deadful defects. The virtue being its gusty and powerful engine. The defects comprise a lack of a manual gearbox option and the horrendous abundance of digital screens that will age horribly as fads and tech move on to something completely different in not that many years.
Don't you worry too much.. Fossil cars will be illegal to drive in public roads in less than 10 years from now.. It will age in the scrap yards and perhaps museums..

It will be illegal to sell petrol and diesel cars but people will be allowed to drive those cars, that has already been made clear in numerous EU parliament debates. No major political party is against the use of pre existing petrol and diesel cars. Also, the way things are going with electric cars, that date will ill have to be scraped as the vast majority of people aren't buying electric cars.
@@johnz4860 You are one hell of a naive human being :D There is other ways to put fossil cars into the scrap yard.. Taxes, road taxes and tax on fossil fuel, that is already happening in several EU-countries. I said 10 years - it might not even be 5 years from now..
@@johnz4860 Further more as the demand for fuel will go down - drastically, it will be almost impossible to find a gas-station in Europe in just a very few years. Same story about spareparts for the fossil engine, no reason for all the suppliers in China and all over the world - to continue to produce parts to a market that does not exist, the prices will sky rocket as well..
@@andersnielsen6044 well, I reckon the vast majority of people aren't buying electric cars for a number of reason, namely, they take a million years to fully charge, they are useless in very cold weather ( as seen recently in Chicago where quite a few Teslas were stranded in the snow unable to start their engines), they are still pricier than equivalent petrol cars. Petrol and diesel remain popular. Citroen has included a New diesel engines in their Berlingo range, in 2024!!!! Finally, do some research and you find that geologists and economists agree that the amounts of lithium there is in the entire world is nowhere near enough for the entire world population to have electric cars! Now, how native does that meke me?

If it's annoying that the car always starts in sport mode and doesn't have comfort then you shouldn't buy a Golf R but a normal one
Well sport mode is not useful at all. It should just let you decide for yourself what you want as the default mode. I’m pretty sure 90 percent of all golf R owners never use sport mode. But either R mode or comfort.
Why what is advertised as a drivers car would you have assisted driving in this car,wtf.
i use it as a daily. for commuting, trips, etc. Drivers assistance is nice to have if you are on the highway for hours.
Only because its a drivers car doesnt mean you only drive full speed or on tracks

The car is Belgian, msrp 72000 euros. In the Netherlands it would have been 90k+ because of the CO2 tax.
@deniznarli6004 Cars in Belgium are way cheaper, like food, fuel, rent, insurance...etc Lots of things there are better, like infrastructure, healthcare, doctors are real doctors with MDs, not like fake Arts in NL who don't even have MDs. Also, Belgians are more down to earth people. Gangsters won't allow you to take a breathe without paying for it. Makes you wonder why Dutch voted for Wilders! In NL if you are educated, honest and hard working person, you can't make it, but you'll have a great life if you are a criminal.
