5 minutes into owning a new car and Moog already put cable ties on it, DIY tuners around the world are so proud right now 🤣. Joking aside the car looks awesome. But Moog you said to vote around the lip kit but you only showed the front lip, it’s hard to say unless we see the kit as a whole. I think the front lip is fine but it’ll come down to if you can live with the OCD of the logo being offset 😂 I personally like the offset logo.

I can't recommend 3M PPF highly enough. I've used it on my front corner lights, the sidemarkers/indicators and of course the pop-up lights. I've also used it on the place where I needed it the most on my car, which was the tail lights. being an 80's car with degrading plastics and bad UV rot, I needed something to protect the lenses from being any worse, which is where the PPF (and specifically 3M) came into the picture. after sanding them down with 1500 wet/dry and washing them, they got PPF coated and look fresher than when they left the showroom. it's also UV resistant, self-healing (some kind of black magic in that) and was piss-easy to apply. great episode Moog.

I’m glad the aftermarket’s finally caught up to some of the little things that used to be prohibitive. Like valved exhausts and electric dampers and electric parking brakes. I thought the ground effect kit looks great minus the offset badge. Nice and subtle almost factory look with the matching gloss black.
Loving that color Moog. I'd say give the lip a try. Maybe just test fit it with a couple double sided pieces of tape. Then if you like it, make the install more permanent. Beautiful car though!
Love the WRECK IT on G8R. Quick thought, maybe consider spray some black heat resistance paint on the inside of the exhaust tip to cover the metal tubing. Was quite noticeable whilst pulling into the detailers
A message for the haters of golf 8. Good luck hating this car. The car is looking so good, oem + gotta be the best way to go when modifying a car. Clean af
Detailing vehicle is absolutely a modern art that is underappreciated, especially the skill it takes to wrap perfectly a brand new car they've never touched before.
Im with you on the gloves. I know its a safety issue but I've been turning wrenches over 20 years and the feel isn't there for me. Also, my hands sweat and I hate that wet glove feeling. Great content as usual. Grats on the new car.

I've been watching since the driveway, really proud of ya'll for having that amazing garage. Ya'll are the only youtube channel I actively buy merch from. Greetings from Nashville, TN.
Loved the genuine delight on your face as you lowered the car down after installing the Milltek, Moogs. Using the old wheels with some dedicated tyres for the track? Very tasteful mods (even if i do prefer blue/silver vs blue/black!). Correction and film makes it look spectacular - front lip and skirts will top it off, I think. Congrats on the new .:Ride!
I think this design is right next to the MK6 R for me, its curvy like that one, but has the MK7 edges to compliment the curves. I am so freaking jealous of the countries that get the Avant version...
When I finally got an opportunity to buy a new car for the first time and I also got the Mark 8 Golf R; congratulations! Thank you for your amazing videos; it definitely helped me make my decision.
What's your mechanic in the shops accent? So interesting. I'm guessing parts of Australia (Maybe he's from New Zealand?) has different accents by region like here in Canada.
The hardware certainly looked cheap as it chinced across the floor. I'd be straight off to the stainless nut and bolt supply for some 304 (minimum) grade hex female pan heads and ancillaries.
I’m not personally a fan of brand new cars, I’m not into the muted sounds, electronic handbrakes dsg gearboxes etc…but no one can deny that your new golf looks banging! Very nice package all round, super clean 👌
Couldnt think of anything worse than driving an older, loud, manual car for the daily commute...give me fast, refined, modern and loaded with tech for the daily grind. The more visceral manual cars are for the weekends.
@@ronaldov09 Each to their own, totally understand the comfort and refinement for daily working, I’m just old fashioned having grown up racing go karts, I’d take the loud communicative car every day of the week I can’t help myself. Just finished work on my own car to see a upload from our friends from Australia 🦘. Today is a good day!! Keep up the awesome uploads! Been a subscriber from the first hour. You guys inspired me to do all work on my car myself! Thank you! Kind regards from the Netherlands
So good to see you remedy the mistake of getting rid of your previous Golf R... The Audi didn't quite cut it. I think the White GolfR was my favorite build. It was a good looking daily with heaps of Power.. It is quite amazing how much larger the new exhaust is than stock. It sounds a bit more aggressive but it sure looks a whole lot better. Your anti chrome stance is growing on me. The drop was a bit low for my taste but it is your ride. I knew as soon as I seen the car in the dealer those mirror caps were getting altered. Are the new wheels and tires lighter than stock or is it just cosmetic? The KIT always seems to fit Moogs personality and it does look better when he's done most of the time.. Now add the Chopped Sticker.. I can't wait to see Marty get to go full Mark8 mods on the MIRA - Scion - Toyota... Oh whatever that 3 cylinder nugget is. Note: I guess if your going to pay that much for a car and then put a substantial amount of money into modifying it you might as well go the extra mile and protect your investment. I don't think my car is worth the amount of money that was spent on the mods and protection which is probably why I like watching this show.. Nuggets to exotics.. so much fun. Thanks and best wishes on repairing the vandalized GTi-R.
@@bleachyunknown2000 Thanks for the reply. I haven't bought wheels (or a new car) in so long I just wasn't sure how light modern wheels would be, especially on a vehicle like the Golf R.
Love the new Golf, had to be Lapis 😁 As for the lip kit, it's a no from me. Just don't think most cars need it. See a tonne of Focus STs over here in the UK on the owners page I'm a member of with them fitted and just think they look really tacked on and don't help the overall look. It's the main reason I've kept it off my Mk3. But each to their own 👍
I was hoping he would list spring kit specs and brand. Perfect height and stance even with the stock wheels and tires… that was the main reason I watched this video!
Not for VW lol. All the VW dealers around me are perfectly fine with mods. This isnt a subaru or honda where you put a new cabin air filter in by yourself and it voids the entire warranty ... lmfaoo
I remember watching you guys working in the driveway. I'm so proud of you guys 💪💕 Edit: Also, the stock exhaust tips look like something off a PT Cruiser or a HHR hahaha
Love that the valve system in that golf R is exactly the same as my MK8 fiesta st. Just a note for the valve, after a while the spring compresses too much and it gets rattly when the valves shut. If that happens put a little piece of rubber in the motor side, it helps. Had to do it with mine with the miltek exhaust.
Hi mate, loving your video so far. first time! i have my Golf R on order so would love to get your recommendation for a Brisbane/South East Queensland garage that can assist me with modifying my own when it arrives. Thanks so much.
Not gonna lie, never been a huge fan of the vw golf series, but this car... Is really quite beautiful. VW really out did themselves with this car, and even has an Audi quality interior. Stunning car.
And that suspension is already the greatest thing VW has ever done. I wouldn’t get near changing that. That’s what makes the car an upgrade is that suspension
Love the mods you selected and the down to earth approach you take on your vids! I was considering a new Golf R as my next purchase and you sold me on it for sure! Congrats on the new ride!

I completely agree with your concept of "Not lowering the car too much". I also agree it looks like sh!t so slammed one must worry about rubbing when going over bumps... it's ridiculous. But hey... to each their own. 🙂 Also, I would have put the newly-styled VW logo center caps on those REVO wheels. I think they would pop much better! There is not a lot that pops about those REVO center caps. But hey, again, to each their own, good friend! The REVO center caps don't look bad... I just think they new VW caps look better. Awesome ride, awesome mods... I enjoyed the trip! I'm a bit envious right about now! 😛
Looks amazing! I was almost definitely sure that you would change the emblems with the black ones. But still, it's beautiful! I honestly would prefer the lip kit without the logo or at least properly positioned. The logo on the lip kit looks a bit bigger than it should and stays under the bumper.
17.25: Using the widow makers. Did this to my Ford Territory... bigger/heavier springs = sketchy. I will let Pedders (or similar) do it next time. Also, nyloc nuts should only be used once (unless you add some locktite) - depending on application. Great video. Enjoy

Lip on, IMHO
my dad just bought one a few weeks ago. I drove it once and put in an order for a GTI. It's truly still a drivers car.
Love the WRECK IT on G8R.
Quick thought, maybe consider spray some black heat resistance paint on the inside of the exhaust tip to cover the metal tubing. Was quite noticeable whilst pulling into the detailers
Came to the comments looking for this. Small details that matter.
Honestly that lip kit looks pretty cool, though I would remove the badge completely.
The whole duration of this video was just pure automotive bliss and therapy! Thanks for giving us this awesome safe space and escapism guys!
When you're watching MCM and MCM upload.... very good, very nice.
A message for the haters of golf 8. Good luck hating this car.
The car is looking so good, oem + gotta be the best way to go when modifying a car. Clean af
oem+ is sooo clean love it
Golfs are too boring to hate.
I sometimes use gloves, but they usually shred themselves within 5 minutes...
ive been doing it a few weeks (just started as an apprentice) and i hate gloves. ill only wear them with brake fluid stuff because it irritates my hands
Get some better quality. MAGID polyester coated industrial assembly gloves are pretty good, and like $3 a pair.
As a lot of people will say. I love how far you guys have come. It’s inspiring 😊
Honestly, that ceramic coating ppf part was just so dayum satisfying to watch. Great video!
Humble mechanic beat you to it, modded his at the port lol. Congrats Moog well deserved mate.
Yea, but this is the first customer delivered in Australia, humble mechanic is American

I've been watching since the driveway, really proud of ya'll for having that amazing garage. Ya'll are the only youtube channel I actively buy merch from. Greetings from Nashville, TN.
Wow what a beautiful golf, glad you grabbed an 8r moog. As a 7r owner myself, I love to see this 🔥🔥🔥
Loved the genuine delight on your face as you lowered the car down after installing the Milltek, Moogs.
I am so freaking jealous of the countries that get the Avant version...
one of the simple but clean MK8 R iv seen! really sold me on a R now lol got to get my hands on one!
Definitely yes to the front lip.
That MK8 Golf R looks amazing Good Job Moog Modifying and it will goes really fast at the race track road Make 320HP on Dyno Well done👏👏👏👏👏
South African. I'm from Cape Town/Durban myself.
Sounds like a South African accent to me.
Defo S.African accent.
...we sure do stick out dont we? 😅🤣
Ahh, thanks folks! It's definitely a unique one I wouldn't hear often.
Love the content, but personally I think the maxton design bits can sometimes makes cars look a bit tacky, sometimes their products look cheap
The hardware certainly looked cheap as it chinced across the floor.
I'd be straight off to the stainless nut and bolt supply for some 304 (minimum) grade hex female pan heads and ancillaries.
maxton are cheap chinest crap bro
Anything after market on modern cars look tacky, they usually look as good as they can be from factory which is why the modified car scene died
@@mrcaboosevg6089 looks are subjective to everyone. Talking from out your bum there fella
Hi! I'm not sure if you read comments, but I'm just really happy you showed that wheel & tyre. I totally understand the tiny little drop :)
I drive a V5 2.3 manual with loud cat back everywhere including work.
These Revo wheels are supposed to be lighter than normal, it's from their new lineup if I remember correctly, plus they're forged, so that's also nice
@@bleachyunknown2000 Thanks for the reply. I haven't bought wheels (or a new car) in so long I just wasn't sure how light modern wheels would be, especially on a vehicle like the Golf R.
Much love from Kenya. So far my favorite car mod channel!
Love the new Golf, had to be Lapis 😁
As for the lip kit, it's a no from me. Just don't think most cars need it. See a tonne of Focus STs over here in the UK on the owners page I'm a member of with them fitted and just think they look really tacked on and don't help the overall look. It's the main reason I've kept it off my Mk3. But each to their own 👍
Good to see the Chinese work boots on in the tyre shop when you’re changing tyres 👍🏻
I was hoping he would list spring kit specs and brand. Perfect height and stance even with the stock wheels and tires… that was the main reason I watched this video!
Same here. I am desperately searching through the comments but not finding anything.
There goes the warranty .
Not for VW lol. All the VW dealers around me are perfectly fine with mods. This isnt a subaru or honda where you put a new cabin air filter in by yourself and it voids the entire warranty ... lmfaoo
And here comes the jealousy
Don’t think he cares. Besides he can just fix it lmao if something does go wrong
10/10 rage bait
I remember watching you guys working in the driveway. I'm so proud of you guys 💪💕
Edit: Also, the stock exhaust tips look like something off a PT Cruiser or a HHR hahaha
Dude! I thought the same thing, haha 😂.
I like front spoiler on better
This channel is a youtube classic. so good to see him in sonething fresh
I'd say yes to the Front Splitter. looks sick! :-)
What intake is that
Following also, i cant find it anywhere. Any luck?
These modifications to black wheels and black mirrors make it look more aggressive. Perfect
Pually the real mechanic sounds suspiciously South African
I think he is
I actually love the silver mirror caps, am I weird for that? xD
Yup me too
Hi mate, loving your video so far. first time! i have my Golf R on order so would love to get your recommendation for a Brisbane/South East Queensland garage that can assist me with modifying my own when it arrives.
Thanks so much.
sell that junk
I'm just accidentally seen your video but honestly it's pure enthusiasm, ✌️thanks to a youtube algorithm for bringing me here 😅. nice car man thanks😉
Not gonna lie, never been a huge fan of the vw golf series, but this car... Is really quite beautiful. VW really out did themselves with this car, and even has an Audi quality interior. Stunning car.
congratulations you bugga! well done dude, its been amazing to watch your journey!
Drive it like you stole it!
Love it! I own a '16 Mk7 Golf R. Love my 6MT; wish VW continues making them in manual transmission! Enjoy it mate!
Never been this satisfied after watching a mk8 modification 👏👏
YES YES, great show the golf R is beautiful, love the show from Gippsland.
Sometimes in life you realize that what you have other people dream of, so never take for granted what you have and count your blessings, MK8 R my dream car , cool video man love from south africa.
Such a fun video to watch and all the music is surprisingly excellent putting me in the vibe
Those stock MK8 R wheels are beautiful. I love my Belvedere wheels on my MK7.5 GTI Autobahn. I think VW has some of the best looking factory wheels.
Thanks!
33:23 I thought he started rapping 😂 Nice Golf btw 💪
i remember the first time i watched this channel was when they made a golf (budget street cred) and actually stopped watching youtube all together for years, here i am, after 9 years, watching them do another golf, shit is crazy
I completely agree with your concept of "Not lowering the car too much". I also agree it looks like sh!t so slammed one must worry about rubbing when going over bumps... it's ridiculous. But hey... to each their own. 🙂
Also, I would have put the newly-styled VW logo center caps on those REVO wheels.
Awesome looking R, just got my GR Yaris back from Jarrod and the team at Sydney Premium Detailing yesterday after watching this. Legends!
Enjoy
This video didn't feel like 38 minutes, loved it!
33:21 For a second I thought Moog was about to start spitting bars when the beat came in. Also it's nice to see that the VW emblem boot handle mechanism gets stuck like that even on a brand new golf R
Had a mk7 done like this and swore I’d never go back… Thought I’d grew up have a S6… I am now searching for a mk8 as I watch this 😂 You have great taste mate
