I own a very low mile 2013 Turbo. I definitely have the A/C problem (only barely works when knob dial is between 0-1. There's a specific "sweet spot"), but now you've alarmed me about my engine potentially failing. 😱. Yikes! I'm a divorced (single) mom. I cannot have my car breakdown on me. I religiously get all needed servicing of the car, as I am not a mechanic/pro, nor do I have a good (male) friend who could help me with car problems. I've done as much research as possible (read repair manuals, watch videos of repairs). I've taken my center console apart, found the problem (melted like mentioned in this video). But to actually fix it myself? Yeah...., I'd better not try. Sadly, it looks as if I'm going to have to resign to let her go to a more mechanically-inclined person 🥺. SUGGESTION: SINCE YOU HAVE THE SWITCH OUT & APART BURNISH THE FIXED CONTACTS WITH AN PENCIL ERASER AND USE SOME 600 GRIT WET OR DRY PAPER ON THE ROTOR. CLEAN IT ALL AND USE DEOXIT (R) GOLD 5 OR A CARBON FILLED CONDUCTIVE GREASE. YOU CANNOT FIX THE POOR (TOTALLY UN-LUBRICATED) DESIGN, BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT LAST A LOT LONGER. DO THIS EVEN IF IT IS A NEW SWITCH.
The manual climate control in my 2009 Santa Fe is over $300 plus shipping. The pots eventually get dirty after 10 years of use and the heater/AC fan RPM's will go up and down erratically. The A/C compressor also started to intermittently kick on and off. So far, the A/C has not completely failed and I can get it to start working by rotating the fan speed and temperature control knobs back and forth several times before starting the car. One Santa Fe owner claims that the pots can be cleaned but I haven't tried to do that yet.
This is never going to be a safety recall if nobody report it to the NHTSA. I took my time and filed a report. I had smoke inside my car while driving in the highway. I think is unsafe.
What about you pry up the copper tabs so that they make better contact? Maybe bend over the tabs with a plier and that may do the trick. It will last for another 2-3 years depending on use, maybe 5. I actually have a car that works on the high setting and after I cleaned the contacts, it works on the third setting only if I move it to the high setting first, the low and low medium do not work (not making contact). I will follow up on the car as the pins have moved away thus the pins are no longer making good contact and that usually creates high resistance which leads to burn out.

I have a 2012 Veloster and I’ve noticed it start to go out like sometimes it would the light with go on and at other times if it were at like 1-3 it work but short off and I would have to try to adjust it certain ways or push the knob in more and it stay on. I’ve been trying to get it fixed since November. And they don’t call me back where I got my car from and I feel they are purposely doing it so it won’t be within their warranty for my car but if I’m a day late in my payment they blow me up but don’t want to fix the issue at hand and when I talk to them they say they can’t make the appointment the service department has to and every time I’m transferred goes to voice mail and no one ever calls me back

I just filed down that plastic , put everything back to gather , plugged it in and got full blast A.C back after almost 8 months . I need to replace my 6 pin connector and the wires. I've gone through 4 moduals in one 2014 veloster turbo and two on my other 2014 veloster turbo. I bought both cars brand new and Hyundai would not recall this problem. I did notice that that they have 3 wires that are spliced into one wire. The one wire that hooks up to this plug is the same gauge wire as the other 3 wires this maybe the reason our switches are getting too hot. They need to fix this my car almost caught on fire only reason I had to do this.
I have had 2 fail on my 2013 Veloster. one at 30000 miles and another at 60000 miles. So disappointing. Engine failed at 55000 but was an issue since day one. I had at least 5 trips to the dealer before the engine failure. Hyundai I'm not mad I'm just disappointed.

Now my wifes Tuscon engine failed. It is at the dealer getting replaced under warranty. Never again will I buy a Hyundai.

As of right now the dealership is the only place to to buy the climate controller besides the junkyard. Cost about 600 to 700 for the unit.

I replaced the hvac assembly last summer and the new unit just stripped out again. It’s real shady that Hyundai won’t issue a recall for this.

Keith Garcia you will have to buy the whole ac unit. Apparently they don't sell just the ac control.

There is a recall on engines. If you paid to replace it, you can get that money back.

My problem was the fan replaced it and the resistance and I have no power coming through the power wires to the blower
We were able to take our apart but unfortunately ended up having to buy the whole new unit in order to fix the problem.
