hey everyone! before working at a camp last summer i searched all over the internet for packing videos, specifically for camp counselors from canada!! so, after my first year i decided to make one! i will make any video you guys want to see relating to campers or counselors so request down below!!

At the camp i work at we wake all the kids up at 6;00 and one kid had sleep paralysis and she forgot to take her melatonin and she could NOT get out of bed so just remember all camp counselors out there be responsible and give your campers their melatonin.
at my camp when the parents sign in their kids, they give staff their kids medicine with specific instructions on how they take it and when to take it, so we always had the camp nurse come up after or before breakfast or dinner and give kids medicine.
Getting piercings at camp seem like the worst idea ever honestly they probably just infected
I did it with my cabin, it worked out well and it was fun asf lol
if we did that at my camp the counselors would get so mad at us lol

So exited to be staffing my camp- we sleep in tipis and our storage space is basically what fits in your bag. Wish I could do the drawers! it’s reassuring to see u so calm aboutpacking. Ur so prepared! I’m sure your an amazing staff
same, rn im in the younger kids group but it’s my last year in it so next year i will be in the tipis. i am in cabins but it is super cold at night and i can barely survive the cold in un-heated cabins but the tipis are even worse. if it’s cold at night where you go can you give me some tips about how to survive the cold in tipis at night

We have to change right away every morning at camp cause we have chapel right after breakfast

Your campers cant know your name? What kind of a camp is this?
Sizzling Squiggle at my camp they have names like “Goose” and “Noodles” so we don’t know their real name...

Gbone Philly no, it’s just a fun tradition! It’s a “big deal” just because it breaks tradition
At my camp I go to, we have camp names. It’s a fun thing, because the campers try to guess it all week; and we tell them the last day about 30 mins before their parents come pick them up. This is because our camp, the campers aren’t allowed to have us on social media. And if we get called a specific name all the week, and just tell them our camp name last minute. They are more than likely to forget our real name and not be able to look us up. It’s also for privacy reasons.
happens at mine too! my counselers name was “cool beans”. it’s kinda like a tradition to have to try to figure out your counselers name. we are allowed to find out their name the last day though!
My camp (Girl Scouts) has camp names too! But the one difference is that they reveal the names on the last day. We are strictly not allowed to tell anyone the names. I love this video too! Have a great day❤️😁~Em

Emily Garvin They did that at my camp to also a Girl Scout camp but they stopped doing that for safety/stocking reasons kids will be following them on Instagram and other social media sites which is obviously not wanted by most counselors
I am a Girl Scout and my camp used to be a Girl Scout Camp but it got bought by someone else. On the last day of the first week all the counselors do a Mickey Mouse roll call and they say all there names. If you stay at camp for two weeks (which last year was my first year and I only stayed for one week but this year I’m staying for two! i leave for camp tomorrow and im really excited!) you have to promise not to tell any of the kids the counselor’s/staff’s names.
i watch camp vids every year and i love it but sometimes i can’t get interested but this video always interested me !!!!

my camp in the lake ontario area uses camp names too! funny thing is, somebody’s camp name here is Eden! mines Luna. do you guys pick your names or do people pick them for you? at my camp the head counsellors pick them for you and you have to wait 5 years to learn your meaning!
hey rachel! we pick our own camp names, but the camp i went to as a kid gave their counselors camp names during training week or LIT

The last 2 years of my camp, we had to use different cabins then we normally had to. Our camp is split in two by age and I’m in the older group. We had to hike up a huge hill to shower because we weren’t allowed to use the showers close to our cabin. It was NOT fun. 😂
At my camp everything is far away from eachother so walking back from something like movie night at the mess hall and going to our unit it’s dark and cold and we have to do like a 10 minute walk up a steep hill just to go to bed 😭

Haley Angle this video was intended to get people who may have just been hired at a camp for the first time to start thinking about what they might need if they need to slowly purchase items, this is not my actual packing and i’ll do that probably the week i’m leaving. and they can’t know my name because of our privacy/social media policy, and its also just a fun tradition!

Can I ask how come your kids at camp can’t know your personal name and your “camp name” instead? Is this a general thing at all camps or not?
Usually camps that do this want to keep the identity of the counselor safe so the kids don't search them up on social media to contact them. It protects the kids and staff

micallyn scudder at most camps yes. We tell them at the end at my camp. The name thing is fun and keeps your privacy when kids ask you a ton of questions! :)

it’s usually for personal reasons and sometimes it’s more fun for the campers to know them as a fun name instead of their regular name😂
