Loved this video! Would you say camp is very cliquey, or does everyone get along great together? Is there ever anybody left out of the group or anything?
hey! all camps are different but at my camp everyone is very close and get along really well. In saying that, at the beginning people tend to hang with their friends that they haven't seen for 10 months but as soon as you dive into pre camp orientation its like one big family!
hahaha woah well done, honestly I need your organisation techniques! Yeah I think 2 jumpers is a good amount bc you'll accumulate jumpers from general shopping and also from your camp
yay im so excited for you, keep summer camp on your radar for sure, I first heard about it when I was around 15/16 and I'm so glad that I made that dream come true :)
@@jogignac-davies6090 Wow thanks for the good and thorough answer! Always nice to hear good stories. And yea, I still have this plan haha, am a bit closer already 😌
At the beginning you said you were an over packer Per our camp we bring a trunk a backpack a purse usually for girls and a duffel bag along with our like dirty clothes bag full of stuff
yeah it is definitely camp specific. I'm able to bring along a suitcase and a duffle to my camp. Some people take backpacks and some even bring 2 suitcases and then all the suitcases and bags are stored away in a safe space for the summer or you can choose to keep them under your bed.
Hey Emily, this will be my second year heading to a camp but looking for a camp suggestion? i seen you switched camps and wondering which you preferred as im not going through the agency this year therefor i'm applying through websites.
saorlaith rooney hey lovely, excited that you’re going to camp again. Are you from the US or international? If you’re international you’ll have to apply through an agency because they will be your visa sponsor, it’s required for the program ☺️ I don’t think that any camp is better than another, they are all so unique and your agency will find another great match for your personality and skills, good luck! ☺️
at co-ed camps, its about 50/50 but some camps are all male or all female campers but they do still hire the opposite sex for certain specialities and activities :)
I was sceptical at the beginning, I have only taken my laptop the past 2 years (not my first summer) and it was so much easier to book stuff and do uni stuff with my laptop, also with so much in-between time while travelling its so convenient. I never worried too much about it, I just always made sure my it was in my suitcase locked up while at camp (even tho camp is so safe) and then for pre and post camp travel I made sure that the backpack that my electronics were in was always locked up with a small padlock :)
@@emilypamio8148 Yea I'm thinking I want my camera for post camp travels :) ! Also would you recommend being a general councillor or a activity specialist
@@mikaylalarsen2869 you don't get to choose which role you have at camp, on your CCUSA application you will pick your hobbies/skills then elaborate on your top 3 skills, from there, once your accepted into the program a camp director will reach out to you with the position they would like for you to work as at camp, it could be any of your top 3 skills or they may ask you to be a general counselor. Both jobs are just as fun and amazing
@@emilypamio8148 OHH I see, cool. Good to know :D Thanks for all the advice ! xx been helpful if I have more questions I will probs DM you if that alright
Would you recommend going with CCUSA or another organisation like LetzLive? What was your experience with CCUSA (and do they actually hire everyone like what is advertised on the site?). I'm hoping to go to camp in 2021 on my gap year
Hey girlie, they essentially are providing the same service, which is the J1 Visa sponsorship and guidance to go to camp but I've always gone with CCUSA bc they have the cheapest fees and you get paid more at camp + I've found everyone in the offices SO amazingly helpful with the whole process
@@emilypamio8148 Thanks! I think I'm definitely going to look more into going through CCUSA :) I see that you had a great time at camp and like lots of others aha but there are some people who really find it hard and not the best which is making me a bit on edge about going or not. What are your thoughts x
@@mikaylalarsen2869 i highly recommend going to camp. Your camp experience is influenced by what you make of it, if you put your whole heart into it and make lots of effort to know people, you'll love it :)
all camps are different with their phone policy. In my experience, most camps have wifi for their staff to use. At some camps you'll have to keep your phone in a locker all day and you can take it out when you're off duty so that you're always in the moment. Some camps allow you to keep your phone in the bunks but just ask that you don't take it out when you're on duty and to be sensible with phone use :) at most, if not all camps, the campers are not allowed to bring phones.
Sam Petch-Smith in your video it’s best to show your personality and explain briefly why you want to go to camp. Talk about your top skills and include any pictures or videos of you doing/coaching/teaching the skill ☺️
at traditional 7-9 week camps you won't, but you get 5ish days off for the season but a period off each day and nights off after 9:30pm-ish. At day camps, most get weekends off, it really just depends on how many sessions your camp will run, you'll find it all out when you're placed :)
I’ll never understand how people can consider five days before leaving is “being a late packer” 😂. What the hell are y’all packing so freaking early? Don’t y’all have to wear some of those clothes? Use some of your electronics? Use your toiletries? I’ve never understood how you could start packing more than three days before. A list? Absolutely. But physically packing Three weeks before seems extra. It takes like two hours to take everything on your list and pack it away for camp.
I'm applying for summer camp 2020 and can't wait! Hope I get picked
yay congrats!! good luck and let me know how you go! :)
Me too! Are you doing USA Summer Camp?
me to!!! really hope we both get picked!
ok
I applied for upcoming summer and honestly cannot wait any longer! I really really hope there is a camp that wants me :)

im so excited for you!! Which camp are you heading to?
Are you going back to the same camp?
Why did you switch camps in the first place?
A Sens I am sitting on the bus to camp right now ☺️☺️ I just decided to have a different experience as I didn’t agree with some things at my old camp
super late but
Id really like to work at an american camp, but im only 13 so ill have to wait a few years :)

How do you deal with PCD (post camp depression)?
rewatching camps videos heaaaps and also lots of facetimes with my campers and friends :)
