    Very helpful--Melinda rocks! Had seen her initial podcast, followed by her interview on the Treble Health patient summit in April, and was inspired in both instances by her compelling story. Shout-out to Melinda for sharing her progress in this podcast, and many thanks to Dr. Ben for bringing her back. 👏 👏 👏

      @@Gracethrufaith320Hi Melinda, so glad you are doing better. I went through the same thing that you did, freaking out at first wondering how on earth to cope with it, and if it was going to be the same every day and thanking goodness when you get the good days. I am starting to get used to it and I am in Scotland so I am getting help through our NHS at this stage. I watched your other video also about how when looking through google you can end up finding, hmm let’s say not the best results that are not very reassuring. People should take solace in knowing it can get better, and that while the first couple of months can be daunting, it often does get better.
      I am like you in between stage 3 & 4 some days.
      I have to ask btw, do you have Scottish family by any chance? You are the absolute double of someone I know i went to school with. Sorry is that is a weird question lol 😂
      Anyway all the best to you 😊

    The thing is all these 'success' stories are on people who have experienced NO physical damage to their inner ears from acoustic noise. They had some emotional non acoustic trauma & over emotional reaction to their tinnitus that made it worse. Once they learn how to cope with their emotional reactions their tinnitus improves regardless of any other 'treatment' or coaching.

      @@JamesSpencer421 You didn't refute one claim or judgment I made displaying your unprofessional status & puerile ignorance. All you did is deride my comment by making unsubstantiated false & empty claims which for some reason didn't sit well with you, adding absolutely nothing to the discussion. Emotional is spelled correctly & being 'over-emotional' is a proper description which can be applied whether one is of a professional 'status' or not! What pretentious professional wording would you have preferred as a substitute? Upset because I didn't hyphenate the word? When you have something to say that minusculely resembles an intellectual thought & argument rather then nitpicking typo's then feel free to respond. Otherwise STFU.

      I damaged my hearing with 250 rounds of +p 9 mm with a handgun. I'm finding sound therapy is really helping. I mean I have gun shot hearing damage a good amount. Don't give up and your mindset is why you don't make progress. If you train your body to your new baseline it will ignore the noise if you train the baseline as a threat it will GET LOUDER. I've found I can experience silence more frequently and for longer periods. It really does work.

    • @tinnitusawarenessnow8218

      @@ericadams6804 And there it is. Without understanding my condition or my mental state you resort to the blame the victim card being ' if you didn't get better it's your fault because you didn't have right attitude". Even if well intended what you're saying is infuriating, offensive & simplistic. If you knew anything about reactive tinnitus which I suffer with in both ears & throughout my brain 24/7 you wouldn't be giving me the 'baseline' lecture. The idea of experiencing a second with silence for me has not even been remotely possible. I have been suffering with this for 2 & 1/2 years so if you believe I haven't done everything in my power to remain positive then you are sorely mistaken & beyond comprehending my condition or my will & desire to improve.

      @@Andrew-pp2ql Thank you for your understanding & support. Tinnitus is an all encompassing term related to phantom sounds in the auditory system. People generally don't understand that there are wide range of causes, symptoms & degree of loudness & types of sounds. It can also be non reactive or reactive, & come with typical hyperacusis & lower sound tolerance issue's.

    In the UK 🇬🇧 there is no treatment for tinnitus its very much a 3rd world treatment & your on your own to find out how you can deal with it.
    When it 1st came on lin the fall of 2023 I was going crazy sleep was almost zero fear of having it for ever was 100% fear of not ever sleeping again then I came across other similar stories saying similar experiences but also listening to you Dr Ben showing help was possible .
    On thinking of the causes in the past I worked in the weaving shed of a textile mill one of the noisiest, shot guns as a pastime sport & worked in a loud environment for 20 odd years so it's no surprise in retirement I went for hearing test to find I needed hearing aids but still no tinnitus ???
    In August last year my brother past away , Then last fall on a hot day I fainted unloading car , fell straight back banging my head on the road this is when my tinnitus started & struggled to deal with lack of sleep , panic attacks & anxiety , the pills the doc prescribed didn't work.& I was in a bad place .
    Then TH-cam helped big time learning proper breathing techniques, mindfulness & relaxation . I was about to return to my bed for sleep & by listening to artists like Nora Jones tracks

    I've been living with tinitis since 2007... I have tinitis in my right ear. Sometimes it is louder than others. Told no cure. On a scale of 1 - 10 today it's about a 7... Cause I watching your discussion. LOL. I have figured out how to live with it. Despite its loudness, my hearing is relatively good for my age. "I can hear my phone vibrating on the second floor some 50 meters away. I would like my tinitis to go away but I'm not holding my breath. LOL.

    My tinnitus I rate as a 10 most severe and have panic attacks like Malinda. Even with prescribed medications I have lots of anxiety. The ringing is a high pitch that is blaring in my right ear. . It's hard to sleep even with prescribed sleeping pills. I just received Phonak hearing aids. The ENT programed one sound according to my hearing loss. Using the Resound app I cannot mask the ringing. The noise is louder that the birds and crickets or whatever I play. Is it suppose to be like that? Is the masking suppose to completely mask the tinnitus?
    I have the Phonak Lumity 90 hearing aids.

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should listen to a volume where you can still hear your tinnitus. The goal of sound therapy is not to completely mask the tinnitus. Instead, it is an additional sound that helps your brain get distracted from the tinnitus which will allow you to habituate.

    • @CharlesKraieski
      @CharlesKraieski ปีที่แล้ว

      A few days ago I was wearing my aids in the supermarket when there was a loud sound that caused a pain in my right ear which is most affected by tinnitus. I was listening to my resound app at the time. Since then I have been hearing a midrange humming tone in my tinnitus. Kind of sounds like a refrigerator or electrical hum. This I never had before. It scared enough of the high pitched sounds. Should the they do another hearing test? The new midrange sound is louder than the high pitched tones. Can the audiologist reset the Phonak aids to mask this new sound? The first setting was made to match my hearing loss but now I have this new tinnitus sound which I did not have before.

Us proper long term patients just hang our heads down because yes in the early days we all panicked we all stressed over it then we calmed down and yes we had tinnitus but it was so low in volume!!, I would like to see how you would treat someone like me I’ve had tinnitus since I was 23 no unusual hearing loss , started getting worse when I was 41 I’m 49 now only have age related hearing loss but my tinnitus has slowly got worse over the past 8 years always protect my ears still gets worse I’m struggling now, come on prove you can help!!!
