    Buying a used set of Tietliest T300's to use as an alternate. Love the Cleveland Launcher Halos and Wilson Staff GI irons also.
    Great options out there for us duffers that work too much, don't play as much as we want.

    I think I'll like my stealth irons once I finally get the angles perfected. I think I'll end up 2 degrees weak. I've had trouble generating spin and holding greens. Also my gapping was 20 yards.

    That's an interesting video. I play TM Rocketballz and as you'll remember they have lots of offset and 85g R shafts. Since I've been using a Trackman range I noticed I have around 114mph ball speed with my 6 iron and I can either lose it right of target or hook 'em left. I must need less off set and heavier shafts 🤔

    I thought I would go for the g430 game improvement irons, but when I did my fitting, I didn't like them very much. I also tried the i525, which felt very chunky as well. I ended going with the i230s with the Project-x reg sharts and I really, really like them! I'm hitting them progressively better and better, and am very satisfied with my choice. With traditional lofts I don't get a ton of distance (150 max carry with a 7 iron), but the dispersion is much better and I get a nice high ball flight, which is great. I am a 21.1 HCP right now and improving quickly. I don't think "players irons" are just for scratch players.

    Love your video Trottie.
    I would learn so much from you in just 10 minutes. Im ready to pull the trigger on some new Irons. I am a 13 but progressing fast to my goal of single digits by the end of the year. I have Good speed and consistent contact. I get more distance than I want with my Rogue st max OS and they drive me crazy going long and left then I back off them and miss right. I dont want them to go like that I want consistent yardages. I really want to play a forged iron and shape a little more with the 7-PW but wouldnt mind a bit of help with the longer irons. I have. A 4 hybrid. What do you recommend? I want that buttery feel!

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend (and you won't wanna hear this), add the 4 hyb ASAP height is a beautiful thing for younger PLYR's, it'll change your approach life.
      Flatten the irons you have by .5* , the right miss concerns me and it sounds like you have a two way miss so it's most likely path. Just take em .5* flatter.
      Then hold on the purchase. Do it in the off season. You wanna get to single digits, you can easily do that with course management and getting tighter around the greens & adding that 4 hyb.
      Do an overhaul in the winter and get your forged set, PLUS it gives you time to save so you can get exactly what you want.

    • @lancepetersen6950
      @lancepetersen6950 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trottiegolf that’s a good point. I do hit my 4 hybrid well and I have pretty consistent contact. My right miss is when I don’t commit to the shot for fear of going long left but I agree with you. My biggest weakness is that 100-50 yard attack. I need to work on that most of all. Thanks for the advice.

    I started getting more consistent with my irons, I used to blade and shank my shots, now I’m hitting high straight shots, sometimes drawing the golf ball, but I lost quite a bit of distance than before, but hitting the ball a lot better. Would the P790’s work for me if I’m not really missing badly on the face of the club like before?
    I’m currently playing the Ping G400 irons.
    Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

    • @trottiegolf

  • @A.D.D.O.C.D.T
    @A.D.D.O.C.D.T ปีที่แล้ว

    I got fitted for game improvement but feel like they may help me and not make me improve my swing by being too forgiving and making bad shots half good ?
    It’s a lot of coin and I’m interested in your opinion as you won’t be directly profiting like the shop guy.

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Remember you're the boss of your own golf game, so any final decisions are on you. I like to see height (dependent on where you play, links v inland, US v Europe) so game improvement helps for that. I like to see high launching long irons, usually game improvement & I like to see folks have fun, again game improvement.
      With all that said, some folks just want blades, they like the feel, it's important to them, they want to shape shots, they feel like they get better distance control.
      All totally fine and I'd work with that or a combo set and explain the positives and negatives of both sets.
      For me though, it's the PLYR's set, I will be a guiding light but if you want blades and you can't see the benefit of game improvement then (from experience) that is most likely the way to go.

  • @ichor20
    @ichor20 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would a players distance iron (i.e. p790, i525, t200, etc) be next in line when looking to get out of game improvements?

      @trottiegolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it's a progression from the Stealth

  • @jbthemagician
    @jbthemagician ปีที่แล้ว

    My biggest concern with game improvement clubs that have low spin high launch is playing in wind. I play in an area where it's usually fairly windy most of the year. I feel like a lower trajectory with higher spin to stop on the greens would be the way to go. Is that accurate? I normally play cb or mb type of clubs and have been hesitant to use a more "game improvement" for the forgiveness and longer distance numbers.

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Loft is #1, you can also increase ball speed with an iron with a high COR (thin) face that flexes a bit like a driver or fairway wood. The flex face offers more ball speed to higher swing players than it does lower swing but if you can give a player 3-4 mph more ball speed just from face design and then another 4 with loft those all add up and make a big difference for the average player

    • @trottiegolf

      Loft and CG location, keep in mind launch characteristics..... meaning it's not always loft that gives you yardage

    Put your ego aside and get help wherever you can, the game is hard enough as is especially if you can’t practice or play regularly. Very few players on Tour use straight blades for their entire set. If the best players in the world aren’t playing blades then why are you…oh that’s right, it’s your ego again.

Much rather be short from mishit mb and then chip close 👌👍 my making a living doesn't require what the pros have to do so I see why they play the irons they have.

      @TeslaRocks ZX7 is the way to go. Get fitted. The shaft you use can make the difference between a super high ball flight, or a 20 foot roll out after landing on the green. I use the Modus 3 130 X in an older Z945. I lost a few yards but my dispersion is so much tighter. This is coming from a Taylormade TP MB set with KBS Tour 120 stiff.
