i like to think that since the pikmin were going under before the events of 1, they thrived and got as massive as they were there, but the pikmin returning stifled their older population
No, loosing a Purple Pikmin is a great feeling, just launching that sucker at some unsuspecting veritable monster. Losing a Purple Pikmin though, that's terrible and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
You know, something i like about obliterating things with purples, is that sometimes the creatures skip their dying animation... So they just look alive one second, and the next they're deader than a door knob
I killed a dwarf bulbear with a purple Pikmin and it didn’t do its kill animation but just switched to being dead instantly. I thought it was pretty funny
@@buildermonkey2229 it has also become much more difficult to get Pikmin on top for large breadbugs. you either need the high ground or it has to lower it's face by making it drag an object.
man, been a fan of pikmin for like a decade and the titan dweevil still gives me massive goosebumps. one of if not the only boss fight/level/anything in a video game to elicit that reaction from me
you know a lot of people have criticized purple pikmin for being too overpowered, but i never really saw it that way. like yeah they are incredibly strong when it comes to fighting, but theyre also very rare to come by. you can only get maybe around 10 of them in caves, minus however many didnt survive the trip back. so you dont want to take them into combat too often and risk losing them, especially in a game where you can lose your entire army in a second if youre not too careful high reward yes, but also high risk
I can get behind bringing back the Pikmin 1-style health wheels, I always thought the transition between the colors looked cool and didn’t get in the way of communicating where the enemy’s health is at. That said, how come some of the particle effects like the ghost trails or the Snargret’s explosion plumes are removed?
I find it funny that, of the few enemies in Pikmin 2 that can’t be defeated by Purples in less than 15 seconds (give or take), one is the first boss in the game (the Empress Bulblax), another is the only enemy that is specifically coded to be weak to Purples (the Waterwraith), and another is the easiest end-game boss in the franchise (the Raging Long-Legs). (There are a few others (the Pileated Snagret, the Man-at-Legs (kinda), and the Titan Dweevik), but the fact that these are among them is hilarious to me.) Meanwhile, enemies that get completely bodied by Purples without even a chance to attack or escape include enemies that are supposed to defeated in a unique way rather than by Pikmin attacks (Breadbugs and the Giant Breadbug), enemies that are constantly covered in a hazard (the Fiery Bulblax), two enemies that are both deadly and persistent (Gatling Groinks and Spotty Bulbears), and the final boss of the previous game (the Emperor Bulblax).
I just cant put my finger on what it is about pikmin 1 and 2's pikmin groups that i like more than 3 and 4 The way they move just looks less stiff. Like it doesnt look mechanical. They look like an actual swarm of ants moving and following you. None of the other games after 2 ever got that quite right.
Programmer: "So what's the final decision, Miyamoto-san. Should Purples have increased DPS, cause impact damage, make enemies flinch, or have a chance to stun them?" Miyamoto: "What do you mean 'or?' "
This kinda shows the Switch(?) version is missing some textures, the snagret death animation is missing some particles, or is it because of your mod that removes the UI? Also, Man-At-Legs didn't play its death sound.
Ironically, the overpoweredness of Purple Pikmin actually make Pikmin 2 fair
I love how the Emperor Bulblax went from being a nigh-unstoppable tank of a creature in Pikmin 1 to a joke of a marshmallow in Pikmin 2.
i like to think that since the pikmin were going under before the events of 1, they thrived and got as massive as they were there, but the pikmin returning stifled their older population
Nothing is worse than loosing a purple pikmin

when that happens thats a reset moment tbh, cannot lose anyone for the Doomsday Apparatus

losing two purple pikmin

average pikmin 2 gameplay
You know, something i like about obliterating things with purples, is that sometimes the creatures skip their dying animation... So they just look alive one second, and the next they're deader than a door knob
it's like in tf2 compilations when one frame it shows something about to happen and the next frame the killcam is shown

lets ignore the overworld bulbmin on the pellet posy one
he dug his way out of the earth
7:55 is tragic but it had to be done
The purple destruction with that buttery-smooth framerate. This is the ASMR I was looking for.
3:41 I had NO IDEA breadbugs could be damaged by Pikmin, I'm always learning something new about these games lol
yeah, it's just usually pretty hard to get the timing right. Giant breadbugs in particular are only hurt by purple pikmin.
This has been changed in pikmin 4. After being damaged they run away, and the giant breadbug can be killed by putting 10 normal pikmin on top of it.
@@buildermonkey2229 it has also become much more difficult to get Pikmin on top for large breadbugs. you either need the high ground or it has to lower it's face by making it drag an object.

minor side effects of the 60fps code i'd imagine

They weren't just broken either, they were very very satisfying.
Pikmin death by obscene direct negligence is a crime on Hocotate and Koppai.
Never underestimate the true power of purple Pikmin.
I wonder if the Snagret fledglings will make a similar death wail
what a thing to wonder
The answer is no. They even took the wail away from the adults.
No the adults still wail, it ain’t as funni tho
