@Crimson It essentially is just Rhulk communing with The Witness about his former self and home planet (which is called Lubrae, go figure). In a nutshell: genocide, patricide, animal cruelty (animals were indeed harmed in the making of this dlc lore-wise apparently), mass graves filled with limbs, bodies and vaporized remains. Granted, this stuff is essentially the same level of gruesome as the Hive’s backstory, but where it differs is that it actually goes into detail on how brutal and gruesome it is, as it is from the perspective of Rhulk watching his society collapse.
Did we actually got teased for 3rd Darkness element? 3rd being either Magnetic or Metallic substance. Judging from the boss, the skill it uses does really look something alike!

"The whole world is against me...
I wouldnt have it any other way."
The legacy of the Gaurdians is becoming more and more badass by the season.
This fight is easily destiny at its best
The least destiny thing ever released lol
@@Bolts3 thats why its good dickhead
@@Bolts3 turns out they just needed a FFXIV boss to make the best encounter
@@Bolts3 and that’s why it’s great.
@@Bolts3 destiny bosses are pretty boring. Having a boss that idk actually does something and has main mechanics revolve around him instead of the mechanics being disconnected (rhulk with his crit spots and staff and dash vs fighting atheon where the main mechanics are things like oracles which isn’t something atheon himself actually does)
You guys are so composed, it's amazing. No screaming over coms even under such immense pressure. The boss was such a breath of fresh air being a completely distinct race and moving around as he attacked. I didn't think it was possible but they basically made running well useless. Bravo to your team and bravo to bungie.
Dude the boss is literally like nothing else in the game it’s the only one of its kind
He’s also the only one of his kind in lore too 😂😂
And we made him into some shiny armor
Still quite sad I didn't get this far with my team. We stopped after 11 hours of Caretaker, but so pumped to eventually do this raid full through
I never understood why most people think they could even think they'd even get this far without even having consistent planning. Not saying you didn't but generally speaking its just mind boggling to me that people expect to have such his standards when a game mode like this (with contest mode. WIthout such proper preparations until reality hits them smack in the face. Sorry for the small rant btw
@@garneht nah mate it's so valid. This was my first day one experience, with 3 of the team having completed a day one (deep stone) before. We prepped and planned, but we're simply not quite good enough. It will be fun to go though the regular mod yet though.
@@Megan-ln4ng I agree man it happens we don't always have the opportunity to find perfect raid teams but we can use what what got. I just have a distaste for the people who act all cocky as if they're one of professional streamers only to end up being stumped by the care taker either due to their lack of incompotence or just the sheer reality of their team not entirely flowing together
@@garneht my team. 4 of
My team quit before the raid even started and me and the only other guy left was forced to find a lfg team for day 1 on day one we were lucky enough to get to caretaker I wish I could of gone further but we spent 7 hours on caretaker and as you can imagine people started rage quitting
@@ethann462 yeah man, I personally don't take interest in day ones but thats just me because I don't wanna deal with the stress that comes with it knowing i won't have any dependable people in my corner
This was such an intense boss!
The only time we get to hear his voice
Was that at the very end?
Time stamp it
6:39
we actually heard his voice before, many times
You can hear his voice through the whole raid
It honestly blows my mind to hear a team supporting eachother and not yelling at eachother and arguing. I don't think I've ever met a team like this irl
Couldn't find a team to do the raid with! Thanks for uploading this video, I am blow away by the boss. Seems there is ALOT of lore I need to catch up on.
The fight is like an actual RPG fight.
I like how it just stands there like:
*”Fascinating”*
I love how we got a taste of what to expect when we finally face off against the Witness next year.
Idk if it’ll be during light fall, it may be the final shape tbh
@@JustShuaYT nope. Final shape is after the light and dark saga are done. Meaning the darkness will Be defeated and maybe the light will be taken.
@@JustShuaYT if the Witness is not the same being as Nezerec, then the Final Shape will certainly be Nezerec
@@OreoOreoOreoOreo575 That’s not quite correct. This is coming straight from Bungie: “The Light and Darkness Saga will come to a dramatic conclusion in Destiny 2: The Final Shape.
Make no mistake. Destiny 2 will continue beyond.” - Bungie on Twitter
The Witch Queen is the beginning of the end for the saga. Lightfall will be the mid point, and The Final Shape will be the conclusion, where we no doubt defeat The Witness once and for all. But, along the way definitely expect a new race and we got 2 new subclasses on the way.
They added another expansion to tell this story it's gonna be another 2 years at least.
Great job Eso, love the calmness of your team. No panicking at all, nice smooth callouts.
Congratulations. As a Stadia player it’s hard to find people dedicated enough to even pass the first encounter, funnily yesterday. My team and I were actually ahead of the famous streamers as we entered the pyramid whilst being introduced to so many symbols we pushed ahead. Yet it’s still a very fun raid. I hope to get it done in contest mode.
you're lucky you even managed to make a full fireteam on stadia lmao
@@zedsdeadbaby yessir
The game has crossplay. We don't bite (too hard)
@@raysravens52 that’s just stereotypical. I was a PSN player years back and I specialise in controllers, I can be a bit of mouse too. I just need a team with the same intellectual capacity to run through the damn raid 💀
@@Mo-ph4pp Well that is going to be impossible regardless of the platform. This raid seems super team dependent too but hopefully you can find people!
I’m beginning to think the darkness was right all along
nah, both sides are equally wrong... giving yourself to a singular god that promises everything is a foolish thing to do. I'm of the mind that we shoot both and be done with it.
@@someguy1365 That's kind of what The Witness wants to do
Congrats on the day 1 clear!
Thank you!
I love that when damage phase starts rhulk straight up roars like a monster
I'm curious what all the other disciples will look like. Seems like the Witness picks a champion each place they visit if possible.
Looked at the lore for Rhulk and it’s surprisingly gruesome by Destiny standards.
@@jamfilledjars what are some highlights?
If you go to collections then exotic and go energy weapons you can read the lore tab for the new raid pulse. Gives you a bit of an understanding. Seems like Rhulk has been a pain for Savathun for eons
Nice
@Crimson It essentially is just Rhulk communing with The Witness about his former self and home planet (which is called Lubrae, go figure).
In a nutshell: genocide, patricide, animal cruelty (animals were indeed harmed in the making of this dlc lore-wise apparently), mass graves filled with limbs, bodies and vaporized remains.
Granted, this stuff is essentially the same level of gruesome as the Hive’s backstory, but where it differs is that it actually goes into detail on how brutal and gruesome it is, as it is from the perspective of Rhulk watching his society collapse.
I'm blown away by how quickly you guys got through the dunking phase, definitely taking notes.
Finally actual gameplay/walk through. Congratulations but thank you for the content we really want‼️🥳✊
Props to you and your team. Much love and good job!
The boss battle reminds me of normal games boss battles where you time the attacks and Dodge so it's kinda like a spark of nostalgia
Did we actually got teased for 3rd Darkness element? 3rd being either Magnetic or Metallic substance. Judging from the boss, the skill it uses does really look something alike!
Holy shit that final boss looks awesome!
Yeah, especially with it being completely different to any other boss in the game, a great change
16:21 it looks like statue at the where we picked up glaive sculpture in witch queen campaign
The echo in the post raid cutscene was in my opinion was cool
I’ve never played raids and I can see why, damn that looks hard haha. What gun is that btw?
You're missing out. With good teams and the right attitude raids are easily the best content in Destiny
Funnelweb (SMG), Witherhoard (Grenade Launcher), Threaded Needle (Linear Fusion)
EDIT: At the end he swaps Funnelweb for Null Composure (Fusion Rifle).
It’s contest mode so it’s all harder. Should be easier soon.
It'll be way easier once contest mode is off. And people will refine strategies and such.
I'd strongly recommend trying to get into raids, they're consistently the best content in the game.
As divided as the destiny community can be, we all agree that raids are some of the best stuff in the game
Never fail to amaze me. 👍🏼 congrats fireteam.
That. Was. EPIIIIIC!
perhaps we could see some more disciple-like enemies in the future, as Rhulk has a very unique deisgn
There’s nothing more satisfying then that final blow on a raid boss
Pretty awesome you were able to compile and upload the encounters as you completed them. Im not hardcore enough for my team so i wasnt high enough light, but i was keeping up with vids and streams and trying to help them out best i could. Awesome vids as always 👍
When I first saw rhulk, I thought it was the most anime boss bungie has made: big f*ck off beam attack, so much swag while just floating still, a "I'll fight you on your own level!" Stage, disrespecting kick... the list continues
Don't forget the Crip walking
He looks like deep sea kind from opm
Back again with the complicated calls oh I'm gonna love this raid
Coolest boss in Destiny history
It broke me to tears of laughter watching Rhulk walking with his hands behind his back, like old people on retirement
Its nice to see a raid boss that isn't a complete carbon copy of a regular enemy type !
From some comments I’ve read, good thing it wasn’t Taniks taped to pyramid chair 😂!
Literally a dark souls style boss fight
not really, but okay
@@SlawBunnies909 dps phase wise i mean
@@andrewbeez8119 yeah when dodging the attacks
@@SlawBunnies909 Don't be like that 😒
@@SlawBunnies909 yeah it is bro, stand still during dps I dare you. You’ll have to constantly move around to dodge the attacks or else you’ll die. I can see raid bosses, moving forward, will now be mobile rather than just sitting ducks taking punishment from guardians.
The quality of this raid is incredible.
Congrats on the run.
Bruh this guy doesn't even feel like a raid boss. More like something out of a character action game than a near stationary damage phase sponge. I dig it
Look at Eso playing nice with the other boys! GGs bro.
Rhulk: exists
Me when I first saw him: Devil, is that you?
" I'm starting to get aggravated with this game! "
I think that at least once a day if I'm playing destiny. 😅
Man I miss raiding. Awesome video btw!
Congratulations on completing it for number 89 my team and I just completed it just now
how do the glyphs work
I love how rhulk just turns into a tree when he dies
Amazing job! Still watching Rick Kackis and his team still trying to beat the boss…13 hours later…
with all of his move set, our clan originally joked "lol do we have to poise break or parry this mofo" when we just saw him (I was the operator of both day 1 raid team on my clan and it feels like a great experience not even standing on the field tbh)
Slow but punishing strike, beautiful and deadly AOE with dang nice VFX, mid-combat dialog expressing, and a fire BGM, dude just almost like a DS boss, just needed the transformation stage and we have one XD
This man looking like a jojo bizarre adventure stand. I'll call him red menace.
This boss makes me excited to see what’s coming next. He looks like nothing we’ve ever seen in the game.
Congratulations on you amazing run all
Well done fellas. I can't wait to try this.
I love that they gave Rhulk a triangular physique, really fitting
I love Rhulk's design! He's so creepy and badass at the same time lol
Not sure if Eso doesn't talk during these or if he just doesn't record his audio (thats how mine is set up) but if he plays mute thats insane and just shows how good he is at working with a team.
Me and my buddies finally did this together- nobody ever did it before- and oh man, it was quite the experience
Why do I get the feeling you’re gonna solo this raid (or part of it) at some point Eso
don’t think you can tbh. You could probably do it with sunsinger.

Masterful stuff, congratulations
Does anybody think Xivu Arath could be a disciple, or do people think Bungie will show her doing her own thing? I'm fairly certain she'll show up either way
Well the witness wanted Savathun as disciple so why not her now, even stronger sibling? (Gonna be honest a think Xivu is at the level of Oryx if not higher, I mean she has Taken,Furionauts,Allied herself with the Black Fleet and has some Scorn as her army. Also there have been many wars at this point, which is how she feeds and strengthens herself. If the Witness doesn't even atleast considers her a potential disciple it's definitely missing out
Well done boys! Looks insane
that soundtrack in the last encounter is banging!
This has to be my favorite boss so far on destiny 2, it is legit a dark souls boss in a destiny raid what else could you ask for
Congrats. Would love commentary on future uploads?? Awesome as always
There are so many prime and umbral engrams here it’s insane
It felt amazing completing this after 5 and a half hours
This final boss encounter is straight out of an anime's final battle.
I really thought and hoped it would be calus, but now i can only hope they give this guy some good lore
Calus was never a possibility, at least not since they stated the raid was about an “ancient danger”.
@@cosmology124 Calus is coming soon I say by now he’s one of the witnesses disciples just waiting for us to come after the witness in Lightfall
I was saying Calus as well. Looks like I was wrong but I did mention Darkblade coming back. That was unexpected.

Rhulk Rogan is a pretty nice looking raid boss ngl
So we get to fight a new alien race? Nice man
