In my 60 years, I have never seen a woman that smiled at the sound of a good running tractor; let alone, rebuild a carb. I think our world would be a better place if more people her age were taught to work with their hands and feel the satisfaction of a job well done. Nice job Rachel!
lol,, I don't own a Farmall either She is really good though, nice presentations Wish she woulda been my FFA instructor, 4H even (though,,, I really wanted to see her actually tackle that throttle bushing)
I was probably 12 years old when I watched a neighbor install a kit on our H. I thought is was amazing how he got that tractor running again. Refreshing to see someone so young and knowledgeable regarding these old machines. Good on you and your father!
I have just purchased a H at a farm sale. I have saved your website and I'm looking forward to doing business with you in the near future! I ran it after the sale for 10 munites, then it died :( I'm sure it may be the rust in the tank/carburator. When I get it home this is where I will start! Thank you for your Carberator rebuild video...
Great job on the video! Used every part in the comprehensive kit, went together perfectly. Thanks for helping me do this with high confidence and success. I’m am officially a fan and customer for maintaining my 1941 H.
I couldn't see the float assembly too well in the video, but sometimes the pivot rod the float mounts on has no retainer to hold it and can slip right thru. That's because the casting of the float chamber holds the rod in place. Thought I'd mention this in case the carb on your H is that way. You might have to hold the pieces vertical when you disassemble and assemble the halves or that little rod could drop out and disappear.
On my H I always had trouble getting that slot lined up to the governor when reinstalling. So much carb trouble I finally stopped using it. Now it's stuck! Wish I had your videos back in the day, but you likely weren't born yet last time I had it running! :) Thanks for helping us with the old engines!
you did it so much easier than I did mine a few years back. Your video production has really gotten great, professional quality, thanks for sharing the fun.
Very thorough explanation and we'll edited video. I appreciate it. I'm in the process of restoring an H for my dad and rebuilding the carb is next on the list. I'll be glad to buy the kit from you. Keep up the good work!
Hi Rachel. You are looking good as always especially when you smile. This is another great video. Your explanation is very clear and precise. You look really good when you sit on the tractor and smile when it is fixed. It really suits you. I look forward to your next video.
Great video, thanks! However, you didn't show the re-install process and I have a question in that regard. I have rebuilt my carb and am ready to re-install, but notice I don't have a gasket for between the carb and the governor tube. I can't find the old one and don't recall taking it off, and my rebuild kit didn't come with one. I assume there is a gasket needed there, is that correct?
When you install the packing around the main jet, you tighten the packing nut fully BEFORE inserting the needle at all? Seems like it will crush the packing before you get the needle in... I feel like the needle should be inserted after the packing nut is just started, then tighten the nut around the needle to keep the packings shape. Could be wrong though
Great video. i wish this could have been made 6 months ago. I finally got mine working thanks to Kenny Kizzle. Next time I'll use your video to re-build my carb.
Rachel, I have tried replacing the idler tube and still can’t get the carb to run. What replacement carb do you recommend? If you could give me the best 2 options that could be great. The 374.00 option just seems excessive.
Rachel: I have heard that one of the best performance modifications for a puller H is to install a 350 manifold and carb. Have you ever done this mod to your H ?
Hi Dale, this tractor has stock parts. However, we've replaced the head, manifold and carburetor on other Farmall H tractors. It is an excellent modification.
Rachel...not long ago I acquired a 1952 Ford 8N Tractor. One day I noticed a Dull Rattle / Clunking coming from under the Seat when the Three Point Hitch reaches the Top of its Travel. Is this Normal? I dropped the Pump out of it thinking the Pistons were Worn Badly and Rebuilt it. A Visual from underneath before Reinstalling did not reveal any need for further action. With the Rebuilt Pump installed the Noise is still there. The other day I noticed if I let the Lever down a bit the Sound goes away. Any thoughts?
Rachel, can you please do a step by step tutorial on rewiring 12 volt 600 series Ford. I purchsed the parts from you all ready but cant get my tractor to run smoothly.
Hi Doris, I'm sorry, we do not have a wiring tutorial, nor do we offer 12 volt conversion parts at this time. If you need some one-on-one coaching on your Ford 600, we'd be happy to help you via a tech support call. You can schedule one here: farmtractorrepair.com/collections/tech-support/products/schedule-a-phone-call-for-mechanical-help
@@DanGingell you're right it is a great show I thought I saw you looking at tractor parts but I didn't want to run up and say hi because if it was wrong person I didn't want to embarrass myself

I like how you didn't show removing and installing the carburetor. Otherwise this video would be 10 times as long, and you would be uttering very un-ladylike language. The nut on the mounting stud next to the engine is next to impossible to remove. It's no wonder that IH went broke with engineering like that...

I was going to go to work today, but now I think I'll just stay home and rebuild a Farmall H carburetor. Looks like much more fun!

Nice tutorial. I was running my H yesterday, thinking about how I need to rebuild the carburetor, perfect timing.

Playing at quarter speed is an option during disassembly. Another great tutorial.

Thanx for these tutorials... They're great reference for those of us that prefer the antiques... Ours is a '49 Farmall C... Great little tractor
Well, this is terrific. Even a carbu-phobe like me was able to fix and adjust my ol' H, and she's not run this well in years! Thanks!

Good how to video. Back in the day, if I has a teacher like Rachel, I would have paid attention and been a A+ student.
Just want to say I really like the videos on mechanics. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for this. I need to rebuild the carburetor on my Farmall M.
Nice video. This isn't her 1st rodeo. Rachel knows her stuff on carbeurators.
Heres a tech tip. Good old hot soapy water is a great cleaner too. I've rebuilt many motocycle carbs and use the dishwasher for cleaning.
Beautiful Tractor.

I wonder how she is at making an apple pie tho. I'm thinking she could do a bang up job with the proper apple pie shop guide.

Are you going to do a video on replacing the brakes on an “H”. I looked at the explosion drawing and it looks pretty involved.

Another reason you should rebuild the carburetor is because you left your farmall H sitting in the field untouched for 20 years.

Go a little slower and show all the details. You’re jumping over some parts and just saying I did this, etc. Otherwise great job!
