Here's a massive tip for any teenagers coming from a 27 year old: don't worry about partying that much in high school, or curfews or anything like that. Once you're in your twenties you'll start finding people who want to be around you for who you are, and will stop treating life like Grand Theft Auto.
Tips from a 43 year old: friends are for little kids. Trust no one. Envy and jealousy is very real. Keep your financial situation and relationship status to yourself. Especially if you make it to your 20's. 20's ain't a walk in Disney Land either.
This is just so senseless. Kudos to Erick's parent's that they were so adamant he be upfront and pay for what he did, usually parents try their utmost to get them out which is the opposite of discipline. In regards to Frank, it's sad to see the stark difference in how quickly the boys were put away with David when Frank literally said twice he didn't shoot himself and they wrote it off a suicide. He looks Native. R.I.P. and my condolences to both boys and their families and may the other devils rot in hell! That town def got sweeped of some assholes.
They didn't say it was a suicide they said accidental shooting unless I heard wrong. Which is questionable as hell because the only accidental shootings I have heard of in my hometown where someone accidentally shot themself it was when someone was reloading ammo and there was static the round went off and had just enough force to go through the guys skull and kill him. The next one was my friends dad 100% successfully managed to kill his truck instead of a deer one morning. put a round right through the hood. and the final one was when 2 guys at the shooting range were setting up someone forgot to put the safety back on their gun on the rest and it was still loaded (bad practice) it got knocked over and went off (which isn't likely) and the bullet hit the other guy in the leg. Ambulance was immediately called and the guy who's gun it was was in rougher shape mentally then the dude who was shot cause he was so sorry that his gun had shot his friend. Now look at that boy shot to death and saying it wasn't an accident. Then look at what they did to this kid. Those boys enjoyed doing this stuff.
@@AudreyMN1 It's hard to nail that down to prejudice here because 2 of the boys involved in that shooting including the one that confessed to it were also native. That I think was 100% down to the cops being small-town cops and not wanting to believe that a group of young men from a close-knit Alaskan town would kill another boy on purpose. That changed when they found out about David. I'd hazard a guess that when this went down the cops that originally investigated that shooting felt gutted and immediately pissed off.
@@BType13X2 They don't look like native Americans , still I don't know their heritage... who knows you might be right about this case. P.S.: the fact that the crime was in a 'close-knit' Alaskan town, does not justify why the victim last words were not taken seriously...
I doubt David showed up and "smoked all the weed" in that trailer. Firstly David had his own car and bank account so he probably had his own weed. Second, if there's 5 guys in a trailer all planning to smoke you've at least gotta have a couple grams. So you're telling me David in front of everyone smoked all the weed and nobody stopped him they just watched him til it was all gone then got mad?? And it would've taken David a while to smoke all the weed. IMO David was likely lured to that trailer to be robbed and it quickly became something much more sinister.
by the timeline of events he was there for maybe 10 minutes before they turned on him. so unless "all the weed" was like half a joint, I doubt that was the motive.
Looking at the perpetrators they all seem like bitter aimless shitheads. David on the other hand seemed like a kid with a bright future. They killed him out of jealousy. Lock them up and throw away the key.
@@gracebroughton4045 - I'll try to explain what the video didn't. Dominic Johnson was a thug. Father in prison, "mother" a crackhead, raised in any number of houses with a carousel of her "new boyfriends". He is a thug and a bully and the only ones who liked him were the junior thuggies. He never knew David Grunwald outside of a "How ya doin'?" in the school hallway. Renfro and Barrett didn't know him at all. Only Almandinger did, casually. Thuggy Dominic was already in a rage when he showed up at the trailer because his "mother" pissed him off. He had said to his junior thuggies earlier that day that he wanted to "hit somebody in the head as hard as he could, just to hurt them". That was actually recorded, and played in court. Along comes David, who none of them knew was coming. It wasn't planned, Dominic just wanted to prove his "thuggy" to the other thuggies, and David was the perfect victim. It had nothing to do with weed or anything other than thuggy Dominic's childish rage. He was the instigator, he initiated the beatdown, and Austin Barrett was the actual murderer, as he finally admitted after his plea deal. Almandinger was the facilitator, providing the hangout trailer and the Ruger pistol used the bash David's head in. Renfro was the one who suggested the location where the murder occurred.

I'm not even sure that's what happened listening to this..sounds like they just wanted to kill someone
How much weed do you have for someone to smoke it all in one sitting like under an 1/8th? must feel really gangsta with ALL that!
Let's see how big and tough these guys are in prison, especially the baby faced ones.
They probably have "boyfriends" in there by now.
@@Verosmom123 they was mk ultra sleeper cells

They'll be walking bandy by now!

The only murder that should result from smoking weed, is the murdering of snacks.

Precisely 🎯. Dope name 💯
They clearly don't know the rules of marijuana consumption!
1. Happy - Smile/laugh at any and everything
2. Hungry - Keep all cheese, chocolate, and salty snacks within arms reach
3. Sleepy - Take a nap and repeat 1-2 twice daily
That's right.
this story doesn't make sense. who throws a party and only has enough weed that someone can magically smoke it all and no one notice or ask for a hit when they smelled it.

It wasn’t about the weed. They just wanted to be “gangster” and took that boy’s life as an opportunity to feel like the real thing. I would’ve paid to see young Harry Potter meet what he was so desperately trying to copy.
A better kind of reality tv.
Show these young ones uncut life in prison. The cameras will not show the worst of it because they would have to fix it then....
I agree, the BS that he "smoked all the weed" is not credible, and sounds to me like something he said just to avoid telling them the real reason they killed him, whatever that might be.
Paid*
I was LITERALLY just about to write the same exact comment. This wasn't at all about weed. 1st David didn't look like the type to hog up all the bud 2nd if he did and they were that mad about it David deff would've compensated them. He wasn't broke. 3rd who waxes someone over bud? Completely ridiculous.
These little clowns are just like the Columbine, Colorado kids who saw themselves as this tough guy crew and wanted to prove to each other how tough, how cool, how ruthless, how crew deep they are by waxing David for ABSOLUTELY no reason. I'm sorry but there's nothing tough or cool about ambushing a young man who's outnumbered, just a bunch of cowards that suddenly noticed if they say "We did it to be cool members only crew members" they'll get life and never see daylight so they are tugging at the only thread the can see which is:
"Well David wronged us.. so yeah we over reacted. Please have mercy" COWARDS.
Nondescript I thought that too
David does seem like such an All American boy; and his parents look so sweet as well 🥺. Sad loss all around as I’m sure the killers’ parents suffer too, in regards to their own children’s future/fate.
I legit thought Eric’s defense attorney was the prosecution at first. He was awful.
Me too 😂
Sometimes there's just not much you can do. They couldn't say he wasn't there, so they had to have excuses for him being there and not doing anything. That is a very short list to choose from. How you gonna defend the indefensible?

I imagine my grandma just sitting there, knitting and starring the truth out of everyone who enters the room😂 she's a true badass🖤
You’re joking but I think you’re onto something here...
I would confess in about one second
My grandma would stare the souls out of these punks. She was a cripple teen girl in the war who smuggled resistance guns in her leg braces. Something about saying gutentag to a Nazi with literal guns taped to your legs builds a bravery you’d fear a mile away.

You could hear both the anger and heart break in the parents voices .... I’m sure they tried their best to raise their son but sometimes there is only so much you can do as a parent .. I am glad they did not defend their son but allowed him to suffer the consequences of his actions ... may David Rest In Peace
Yeah - great parenting doesn't result in a kid like that.
@@RosalieF1 Sorry but I disagree! The parents are not the only influences in a child's life so to nlame them is wrong,in some instances I agree it's obvious but not here.
They tried their best but yet their son had a gun, drank, and smoked weed in the camper on their own property. That's being a buddy, not a parent.
Hi Mike, just letting you know that I appreciate your coverage of these stories. You have the perfect voice for it as well. Loving you in Chicago.

One of the animals that did this was recently sentenced, and the victim's father's statement was poignant.
“What is justice? Do I take a cup of justice out to my son’s grave? Will he have justice then? "
Tailstraw,
Do you know which one and how much time he was sentenced to? I hope it was the maximum!
@@wallyboy6666 it was Austin Barrett, he took a deal for 45 years, discretionary parole in Alaska is 1/3rd of time served, but he has to go before a parole board and victim's family is allowed to attend and make statements. Spot on
His parents interrogated him worse than the interrogator, excuse me investigator 🕵️♂️
His dad and grandma were great, don't get me wrong, but the investigator stepped in when it was necessary. The grandma asked "then who was in that trailer?" and the guy shut it down before giving the kid a chance to lie, because that's a police tactic. And I think he did a pretty good job of making the kid feel like a loser for thinking his friends would have his back.
Ofcourse, I bet David hardly smoked any weed or maybe not at all. Jealousy for sure.
@@phoenixrisin8361 Definitely jealous of David. They probably sit around hating on him on a regular basis..I've known a lot of bogarts in my 55 yrs, never wanted to kill any of them. It's just weed, man, not like it's going to stop growing..definitely people with no connect..🙄

Imagine having your whole life ahead of you & killing someone over a bag of weed... Such a sad story. RIP David. I feel so sad for his parents.
Here's a massive tip for any teenagers coming from a 27 year old: don't worry about partying that much in high school, or curfews or anything like that. Once you're in your twenties you'll start finding people who want to be around you for who you are, and will stop treating life like Grand Theft Auto.
Or you won't..in which case that's okay too they weren't your real friends they just liked the things you provided for them. -tips from a 29 year old
Tips from a 43 year old: friends are for little kids. Trust no one. Envy and jealousy is very real. Keep your financial situation and relationship status to yourself. Especially if you make it to your 20's. 20's ain't a walk in Disney Land either.
Tip from a 31 year old - age is not a marker of wisdom... Possibly
@@zachbolton6557 Possibly yr right. But it IS a marker of experience points. Tip from a 50 (whoa-how the hell did THAT happen?) year old.
TIp from a 1 year old, Gooogao goosgoaahhh
If they can kill a friend over nothing... Than they should NEVER GET OUT OF PRISON!!!
My same thoughts exactly
The prejudices and injustices Natives have to face ...on their own lands :)
Watching this in 2022 again and it’s amazing how much it’s bringing it all back. My stomach has dropped just like it did back them. So sad.
Lock them up and throw away the key.
right. my 1:1 spidey sense was going off; there's no way they watched him face it all, unless it was half of a little joint but still. senseless.
Even if my good friends smoked all my weed I doubt I'd feel a gram of violence in my bones. especially if if I've already smoked.
I find it hard to believe it was because he “smoked all the weed” unless “all the weed” means like 2 grams, in which case they all some broke boys. This whole thing was very cringe and embarrassing. A whole lot of bored children trying to be gAng GAnG
