35 years changing motorcycle tires. Trust me, keep doing the work and learning the tricks. Everyone I see struggling with tire changes just hasn't done enough. Your number one issue breaking the bead can easily be done using your kickstand.

@@localrouteadv same here, I've always done my own tires, I couldn't even get enough slack to get the tube in there.

@@mikej6542 I've had 2 different people bring these rear tires over after hours of fighting. 15 minutes later they are on the road and a little pissed that it was so easy. Frustration leads to mistakes. Don't get me wrong I've had plenty of bad tire changing days over the years. It can and will happen.

That is exactly the reason why i won’t be getting these tires again for the T7. As you stated, i will definitely consider them for the 1290 SA-R.

The biggest bang for the buck for a rear tire on my T7 is the Shinko 805. I have done 7 of 8 BDRs on them no trailering, One with a Dunlop Trail Max Raid both you can replace the tube on the trail with a set of Motion Pro bead breaker spoons and WD 40. Front the Shinko 804 is not good in loose and sandy conditions and the Dunlop Trail Max Raid is a amazing street tire but the handling off road is very strange it wants to slide allot but catches itself plus pushes in soft sand. The best front I have found is the Mitas E07plus in all conditions off road truly impressive but on the street it will track any imperfections on the pavement and takes a while to get used to. As for tube replacement because the front rim doesn`t have a deep side it will break down easily and price point is good. Shinko 805 is a 4000 to 5000 mile tire
and the Mitas is about 6000 if you flip it at 3000.

The Shinko 805 was one of my favs on my KLR650 a few years ago as well as the 244.

I run 2Track on my DesertX(tubeless). So far they have been great for me. But I wouldn’t want to put a tube in if I had a trail issue. Rode BDR routes recently, brought bigger spoons and heavy zip ties just in case. Can’t speak to wet conditions though. I’ve heard they’re a little squirrelly.

I have the tusk 2 track on my tuareg which is tubeless. I did the NM BDR with them a month ago, love them however I probably would not be able to pull them off on the trail. Got lucky so far have almost 10k on bike (7500 with stock tires- miss them on the curves) and no flats.

I put a set of the tusk D-sports on my 690 before I sold it, and those sidewalls were no joke!!
I got them both installed with no major issues at the home workshop off a Home Depot bucket with some Dawn dish soap but yeah they would be straight up no fun knuckle busters trail side I’m sure of it!!
One my professional motocross athletes I used to manage (trained, traveled with, wrenched on the bikes etc) years back was sponsored by maxxis tires and in race weekends I started paying the Dunlop track support guys to install our tires out of sight behind their support rig after a couple change outs and my fingers were just done! 😂

It was a nightmare to install and I know how to do btw, it’s on a T7.
On road, not really great, just ok, front is fine but rear is not stable. Off road, on sand, gravel or rocks, they are not better than the stock Scorpion.
You can feel the weight as the bike is not as peppy. They are so stiff that even at 28 PSI you feel they do not flex at all and the bike is not stable.
After almost a 1000 miles, I do. To know if they are getting a little. It better and stable or I’m used to them….
    Not purchase again.

I would agree with @off-roaddadlife3738, not easy but doable. I put both on in my garage by myself, with spoons and soapy water. Changed a rear tube on the NEBDR. Broke the bead with motion pro bead breaker spoons and soapy water. I had help on the BDR. I felt the tires took some time to break in. They felt a little funny on pavement for at least the first 500 miles. Maybe that's normal but i do not recall the Motoz Adventure a dual venture feeling that way. I'll see how these wear. Currently leaning on going back to Motoz, which are double the price. Pro on the dual venture is its reversible. The adventure wore really well for me.

I just did the same thing on my 690. The waypoint was easy to get on, the 2 track front was quite difficult. I hope I don't have to swap a tube on the trail, but I think I can. I carry really light duty tubes for spares so it should be a little easier to swap, there will be a little more room in the drop. I haven't ridden yet, but I think they're going to complement each other.

    • @Zt3v3
      @Zt3v3 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

The 2 track on front and waypoint on the rear is a great combo. The trail/caster changed with that short 2 track on the front though, I had to slip my forks a bit lower in the triples to make up for the change. I've only tested for about 15 miles, but the on road and dry offroad performance is excellent in my opinion. They feel just as good as TKC80's on the road and they felt better than the continentals in gravel.
