This is cute I feel like Dante kept in touch with patty after everything. Since dmc 4 comes after 2 in the timeline Dante could’ve spent time with her. If I'm at Dante's age, I'd do the same thing. In Hell, I can just simply kill things that annoy me to shut them up and no one would bat an eyelash about it, in a teenage birthday party, I have to deal with all these hormone-addled teenage boys and gals and put-up with all their bull-shits plus I can't just shut them up by killing them since they're just regular humans. okay hear me out for season 2 instead of continuing its a prequel more focused on vergil more specifically how him and nero's mom came to be i got an idea, it starts of with that iconic scene of that woman who looked back at him, him looking for sparada / power / etc and she being interested a bit but more on curious than attracted follows him around for a bit and then to an ally way, he reveals he knew the whole time and threatens and ask who sent her (or smth) somethings happen (idk i havent thought this through) she ends up showing him around, teaching him things, etc. ofcourse we sprinkle in some plot things foreshadowing, and drama, and then they end up living together a little far away from the city she gets pregnant with nero, and vergil GIVES UP HIS SEARCH FOR POWER and lives a peaceful life, time passes and nero was born, but during his birth something like a pulse (like an emp or smth) for devils cuz magic and shit, nero's birth alarmed multiple amounts of demons as they all start heading towards them 2-3 days later while vergil was out buying groceries or doing poet work (idk) the two of them stayed at home but then the demons appear and with him not home, the house get terrorized. She does all she can to protect nero and hides him in a closet (yes like dante) and bring them somewhere else, and as vergil comes home, he looks at the house from afar, dropping the groceries and teleporting to the house. standing in the middle of the debris, layed his dead wife, he was reminded how he was like back then in, demons close in from all sides as he remembered the reason he searched for power, and in an act of rage, summoning the yamato, he slayed all. He went on for hours and when he was done, he heard crying, he heard his so crying, he searches and finds him with a debris on his right arm picking him up, he knows only staying with him will only bring him harm, and after losing so many he cant stand to lose another. the scene cuts to an orphanage, with vergil standing on the porch, light rain in the background and the only light being the one on top of the door, he puts him done slowly, as he does he starts crying from the cold, he takes his ascot (the neck thing) and places it on top of nero as he kiss him on the forehead, he knocks on the door and prepares to leave but he takes on last look at his son and bids him goodbye

Even if you rigorously adhere to age, it should be borne in mind that Dante is a half-demon, which means he will age more slowly than an ordinary person. This was the first DMC game I had played and when I did I knew nothing about it or the previous games So when patty called and never showed up again I was like "Hey where's that girl that called Dante in the beginning?"
dmc3 -> dmc1 -> dmc anime -> dmc2 -> dmc4 -> dmc5. There's no exact numbers in the series but this is the official chronological timeline. dante starts getting depressed after he lost his only family in dmc3 and his depression gradually gets worse, dmc2 is i think when he's the worse cuz he's full blown depressed in that game, then after meeting nero he becomes happy again cuz he has a family now, so he's back to being snarky and dorky again.
To add on to the DMC2 stuff yeah Dante was Depressed leading up to and during but the Before the nightmare novel made it cannon so that Dante was just bored throughout 2 as well. And only tried when Agrosax showed up.
@@platnumbreaker geez these comments are years apart. But I don't think meeting Nero was the only reason he was back to being snarky and dorky. Aside from it just being a character design choice, I think he had simply reached a point where he really didn't care anymore. He stopped taking anything too seriously. I say this because everything from his outfit, which goes back to being a little more "loud" in the 4th game, to how he engages in combat with Nero before he even gets the idea that he's related. He doesn't speak, but he's not exactly mopy nor serious. And I think the only reason he's really so quiet at first is because of the nature of the mission. They're after the Yamato. It's got to do with his brother so of course it's a touchy subject for him. The main reason I think that he's not as depressed as he was, other than the fact that it's been literal decades, is that nobody just bounces back to a personality they haven't had for years, the moment they're taken out of their depressed state. It takes time. The biggest thing I like though, is that it seems like he's actually even more carefree and goofy than he was in dmc3. Because his character isn't this weird blend of serious, jokestery, and speaking like he's in a bloody play. He really just seems like he's leaning more on the side of being a shitposter or someone who doesn't really take himself or much of anything for that matter too seriously. Again, I think that's moreso a design choice, but for me a clearer indicator is, Vergil and Dante have always been opposites, but it's only made that much clearer decades later when he comes back. While Vergil remains the same as he was but maybe with a slightly different motivation, Dante actually seems even further from him. Polar opposite. In short, I think Dante was already about "recovered" from the depression, but Nero kind of just managed to hype him up a bit more aswell.

If I'm at Dante's age, I'd do the same thing. In Hell, I can just simply kill things that annoy me to shut them up and no one would bat an eyelash about it, in a teenage birthday party, I have to deal with all these hormone-addled teenage boys and gals and put-up with all their bull-shits plus I can't just shut them up by killing them since they're just regular humans. Especially if I'm running an agency that is infamous around town for taking odd jobs and killing demons. That's bound to be a loner's job because you never know when a demon is going to attack you since you're also infamous for being the son of a heroic badass demon so as to avoid any potential collateral damages.

instead of continuing its a prequel more focused on vergil
more specifically how him and nero's mom came to be
i got an idea, it starts of with that iconic scene of that woman who looked back at him, him looking for sparada / power / etc and she being interested a bit but more on curious than attracted follows him around for a bit and then to an ally way, he reveals he knew the whole time and threatens and ask who sent her (or smth) somethings happen (idk i havent thought this through)
she ends up showing him around, teaching him things, etc. ofcourse we sprinkle in some plot things foreshadowing, and drama, and then they end up living together a little far away from the city she gets pregnant with nero, and vergil GIVES UP HIS SEARCH FOR POWER and lives a peaceful life, time passes and nero was born, but during his birth something like a pulse (like an emp or smth) for devils cuz magic and shit, nero's birth alarmed multiple amounts of demons as they all start heading towards them
2-3 days later while vergil was out buying groceries or doing poet work (idk) the two of them stayed at home but then the demons appear and with him not home, the house get terrorized. She does all she can to protect nero and hides him in a closet (yes like dante) and bring them somewhere else, and as vergil comes home, he looks at the house from afar, dropping the groceries and teleporting to the house.
standing in the middle of the debris, layed his dead wife, he was reminded how he was like back then in, demons close in from all sides as he remembered the reason he searched for power, and in an act of rage, summoning the yamato, he slayed all. He went on for hours and when he was done, he heard crying, he heard his so crying, he searches and finds him with a debris on his right arm
picking him up, he knows only staying with him will only bring him harm, and after losing so many he cant stand to lose another.
the scene cuts to an orphanage, with vergil standing on the porch, light rain in the background and the only light being the one on top of the door, he puts him done slowly, as he does he starts crying from the cold, he takes his ascot (the neck thing) and places it on top of nero as he kiss him on the forehead, he knocks on the door and prepares to leave but he takes on last look at his son and bids him goodbye
Whoever said anything, but I like Dante/Mary, and Dante/Patty. I take Trish rather as a sister, given that she is a mother clone. Even if you rigorously adhere to age, it should be borne in mind that Dante is a half-demon, which means he will age more slowly than an ordinary person. Therefore, on the contrary, it’s good that enough time has passed, and an age difference has appeared. In any case, the genus of Sparda must be continued, otherwise Nero alone is not enough. Plus, Dante himself promised at least one date for Patty.

Geez, so the events in the drama were actually THAT long ago. I wonder when it takes place actually.
dmc3 -> dmc1 -> dmc anime -> dmc2 -> dmc4 -> dmc5. There's no exact numbers in the series but this is the official chronological timeline. dante starts getting depressed after he lost his only family in dmc3 and his depression gradually gets worse, dmc2 is i think when he's the worse cuz he's full blown depressed in that game, then after meeting nero he becomes happy again cuz he has a family now, so he's back to being snarky and dorky again.
To add on to the DMC2 stuff yeah Dante was Depressed leading up to and during but the Before the nightmare novel made it cannon so that Dante was just bored throughout 2 as well. And only tried when Agrosax showed up.

But I don't think meeting Nero was the only reason he was back to being snarky and dorky. Aside from it just being a character design choice, I think he had simply reached a point where he really didn't care anymore. He stopped taking anything too seriously. I say this because everything from his outfit, which goes back to being a little more "loud" in the 4th game, to how he engages in combat with Nero before he even gets the idea that he's related. He doesn't speak, but he's not exactly mopy nor serious. And I think the only reason he's really so quiet at first is because of the nature of the mission. They're after the Yamato. It's got to do with his brother so of course it's a touchy subject for him. The main reason I think that he's not as depressed as he was, other than the fact that it's been literal decades, is that nobody just bounces back to a personality they haven't had for years, the moment they're taken out of their depressed state. It takes time.
The biggest thing I like though, is that it seems like he's actually even more carefree and goofy than he was in dmc3. Because his character isn't this weird blend of serious, jokestery, and speaking like he's in a bloody play. He really just seems like he's leaning more on the side of being a shitposter or someone who doesn't really take himself or much of anything for that matter too seriously. Again, I think that's moreso a design choice, but for me a clearer indicator is, Vergil and Dante have always been opposites, but it's only made that much clearer decades later when he comes back. While Vergil remains the same as he was but maybe with a slightly different motivation, Dante actually seems even further from him. Polar opposite.
In short, I think Dante was already about "recovered" from the depression, but Nero kind of just managed to hype him up a bit more aswell.
