  • Having been asked recently by several viewers how I’ve set up my Turbosmart kompact Dual Port blow off valve. As they weren’t sure how to set theirs up properly and they weren’t getting the classic pssst blow off noise from their Bov either. So to help my viewers I thought I’d make a step by step video of how to set up a Turbosmart kompact dual port Bov properly.
    I have my kompact dual port Bov set at maximum soft setting and have had no issues with the cars idling or drivability at this setting, but each car could be different to set up.

      Yeah it sounds like mine was a lot easier to install than yours. Still abit of a pain as it’s held in by three screws, you can’t see the holes when putting the screws in. Some engines have the Bov on top of the engine which would have been even easier to install

      @@EcoboostOwenI get the loud noise on boost which is great but I also get a horrid flutter noise when Im driving in eco or accelerating gently. Can I reduce the 'flutter' and if yes which way harder or softer ? I've watched your video a few times and can't work it out.

    Turbosmart Kompact Plumb-Back or Turbosmart Kompact Dual-Port? Only my preference? what is better for 1.0

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s depends if you want the pssst blow off sound or not. The plumb back won’t give you this sound but the Kompact dual port will as it’s vent to atmosphere. That’s why I fitted the Kompact dual port Bov.

    I spoke direct with turbosmart and they said that you have to use new hose and t piece. Something do with old line not producing enough vacuum to operate correctly

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have a look into it when I’ve got some free time. I have used the OE vacuum line since I installed the Bov last summer and have had no issue at all? Have you installed the new vacuum line on your car?

    For me it jerks when accelerating. And it no longer has the same performance as before. (It also got a performance increase to 180 hp from 140.

      My cars driving fine at present, but your car stuttering when under acceleration could be worn out spark plugs or dirty fuel injectors which needs a good fuel system cleaner put in the petrol tank to clean them.

      I found that replacing the standard hoses with silicone hoses they fit perfect, no issues. Mines a 2014 model, I’ve heard if you have the facelift Mk3.5 model there is a slight issue connecting the silicone hoses to the plastic U bend air box pipe.

    Just installed. When revving from idle, does your needle drop a tiny bit below idle and then back up or does it stop dead on idle? I've started on maximum soft and kept tightening but it still hasn't stopped doing that. Not tight all the way, but surely there shouldn't be that much difference between engines?

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the idle does bounce a little. I’ve got it set a maximum soft setting. Check for air leaks maybe?

    • @IISenjuHashiramaII
      @IISenjuHashiramaII 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EcoboostOwen I've changed mine to maximum soft now. But I can hear turbo flutter, even when I'm as low as 1.5k rpm and not even giving it the welly? Do you hear any? I doubt this makes a difference but I have the facelift model, maybe there's a slight change?

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I get turbo flutter if you blip the throttle, even more now with the Airtec induction kit. As long as you get the pssst noise when revved to around 4K sounds correct. 👍🏻

      @IISenjuHashiramaII 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EcoboostOwen Yeah mine is like that... I was under the impression that BOVs are meant to abolish turbo flutter because it was meant to be bad for the turbo?

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mines been fine, as long as it’s set at maximum soft setting where you can just see the start of the grey O ring. I think I get a lot of turbo and induction noise now due to fully upgrading the air intake setup.

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey. I have a Problem. I have the Focus MK3 FL and the 1.0l Ecoboost engine. When i drive at 2000rpm pop up an failure on the Display. "engine failure, please service". When i go to the Ford Shop, he say the Presure from Turbocharger is to smart. Can you help me Please?

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly I’d plug a diagnostic scanner into your car to see if you get any DTC fault codes. Reading about other 1.0 ecoboost owners with a similar problem to you they were told to replace the air intake turbo boost pressure MAP sensor and Vacuum pipe (The several vacuum pipes on a metal bracket that are part of the turbo control system) to fix the problem. But you need to see if you can get a fault code from the car.

    • @technicalmoreteam
      @technicalmoreteam ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EcoboostOwenok. I dont have a dtc failure in the diagnostic. Forscan said : p0299 turbocharger/ low boost presure.
      That cames mostly in gearshift 5 and 6 under 2000 rpm.
      He also gives little gas below 2000 rpm. he's not really making any headway

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@technicalmoreteam yeah the DTC fault code is P0299. The P0299 code indicates that the Turbo or Supercharger "A" has excessively low output. The ECU looks for a specific range of boost and when the low boost is detected by the ECU, it sets a P0299 code. This code will illuminate a Check Engine Light on the dashboard and may put the vehicle in limp mode.
      A faulty vacuum pump valve can cause the above issues and set off the P0299 fault code aswell. I did a video on changing this valve recently and it’s a cheap quick fix if it’s the cause. Check it out on my channel, it could fix your issue 👍🏻

    • @technicalmoreteam

      @@EcoboostOwenthe Vacum Pump is new. This is 2 Weeks old.

    • @EcoboostOwen
      @EcoboostOwen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d still take the vacuum pump valve off and check the orange rubber grommet is in tact. You never know, and it’s very quick and easy to check it. I found this article, might help:
      www.obd-codes.com/p0299
      Main causes of P0299 fault code are:
      •Damaged air pressure sensors or air temperature sensors
      •Defective boost valves or sensors that control them
      •Damaged turbocharger or it’s components, such as the turbine or bushings.
      •Electrical problems, such as low battery voltage or damaged electrical wiring.
