  • Newly elected NASCAR Hall of Famer Ricky Rudd joins us for an in-depth look at the earliest days of his career, when he went STRAIGHT from motocross to the Winston Cup circuit, with NO in between to get him prepped and ready.
He talks about the struggles he faced with his family owned team; leaving Nelson Malloch for SAFETY reasons; his take-it-or-leave-it salary at DiGard AND going to drive for Richard Childress Racing.

Ole Wrecky Rudd! He was and is one tough sob! Never was a ford guy but I always liked to see him run well and rooted for him. He’s one of the good guys

I wrote a letter to the editor in 1990 while deployed to Desert Shield, and WCS printed my letter and mailing address. I received tons of mail and one letter was from a Stephen Love from Florence, SC who offered to take me to Darlington. I accepted his offer when i returned from overseas and Ricky Rudd won that race in the Spring of 1991.

@@TheSceneVault oh wow...I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. I wish I could just tell all those great fans and teams how much I appreciated their letters. I got letters from the Talladega ticket office ladies, Phil and Marcia Parsons sent care packages as well as the father of Rob Moroso's girlfriend. Thank you WCS.

Awesome interview! Ricky, if you ever do read this, theres so many race car drivers that have the highest respect for you and what you accomplished. . Start to finish history will always say about you "well done " (there was that one time when you should have beat Harvick's juvenile hyde but you took the high road, as usual)

Can't recall exactly the year but I believe he was just now starting out with Bud Moore and he came by the car lot I worked at he was wholesaling a car I can't recall the car but we bought it from him. His dad had the junkyard and I guess he was still hustling. Anyways my brother graduated with him and I graduated with Ricky's sister. Good times I didn't know he will become the star he was but it was cool. 👍

No offence but Ricky is wrong about a couple of things. Firstly, no kart at qll in the 60s was dping 120mph. And secondly, no midget has 800/900 horsepower, and they certainly are not driven by 12 year olds.
