    To start out as a mechanic you are going to need tools and some sort of tool storage platform, well in this video I have compiled a list of tools and tool storage for under $1500.
    This can be very overwhelming as there are so many options, brands and just the amount of different tools. I hope you find this list to suit your needs, send me a message on my Instagram if you have any questions getting started. Let's get going.

    Tbh I love my sunex impact swivel and 3/8th socket set totally worth the buy. I work at a transmission shop too, and they last forever! Have a few capri rachets too and they don't do bad tbh.

      Yes they are awesome, I love the Capri ratchets. The impact swivels if used a lot will have to be warrantied. I have had to warranty my 17mm wobble due to high use. Warrantied no problem every time. Thanks for watching.

    The Icon Flashlights are also great. They go on sale all the time.

      Awesome thank you, I'll have to check them out. I was trying to go with non sale prices. Thanks for watching

    Very nice starter list Tone, thanks. If there's a little wiggle room in that $1500 budget, I would also suggest a telescoping magnetic pickup tool, telescoping mechanic's mirror, and a decent pair of automotive gloves (with good fingertip feel) if the employer doesn't supply those lower-cost items. Really enjoy your channel!

      Thank you very much and yes I originally had the mirror and the magnet on the list but budget was too high and by the time I manuvered the list down I forgot about those two. Thank you and I appreciate you watching.

    Great info for anyone starting out. So many more quality options starting out than I had back in the day.

      Omg yes you are so right, buying Snap On Tools right off the bat. One tool and you had to pay for 3 months before you could buy another one. LOL. Thanks for watching.

    Harbor Freight has the Maddox 3pc oil filter socket set on sale for $15 for most of your cannister style filters

      Oh ok I am leery of cheap oil filter cap sockets, I have seen too many damage the plastic caps. Just my experience. Thanks for watching.

    Great suggestions Tone except for the claw hammer. The other techs are going to laugh the poor apprentice right out of the shop when he pulls out that claw hammer.

      Yeah you are right I should have done a ball peen hammer. LOL. I must have had construction on the brain as I have been out of work for a couple months and doing remodel stuff using my claw hammer. Haha. Thank you for the feedback and for watching the video

    Great video!
    Tekton is also a good source for beginner tools.
    I got their 1/4 inch torque wrench, 20-200 inch pounds for $50.

      I have heard issues with getting them warrantied that is why I did not include them in the list. My coworker has the Tekton 1/4 drive torque wrench seems nice. Thanks for watching.

    Today (2/19) the Yellow or Orange 5-drawer US General are on sale for $199 (plus you get a 10% discount).
    You can also get a US General Service Cart for $90. With those 2 a brand new Tech is set up for the next 5 years.

    Why would u need the Aries hex set? The quin 87 pc has metric and standard.

      Looking closer you are correct, originally I had a different master Torx set picked out and once I was recording the video the set I picked out was not available. I must not have looked close enough at the Quinn set. Thank you for catching that. Thanks for watching.

    Ball pein hammer instead of the claw hammer. Need a good knife or utility blade. There are a few odds and ends to add but this is good otherwise.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for feedback, yes Ball Pean would be better. Razor knife would also be a great addition. I've been working on this list for weeks now. So hard to weed through all the tools I have to finding a good starter set. Thanks for watching.

      Actually it was a mistake, I meant ball peen hammer. My bad. I put a lot into this video figuring everything out. I missed that. Thanks for watching.

    Um. Sir, who the hell bottoms out a torque wrench? That is a fireable offense.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree but I have seen people do it, lent out mine and got it back spun all the way to the bottom. Not a lot of people have the proper training. Thank you for watching.
