Rex "Lil Man" Marshall may have just put up the weirdest statline I've ever seen. His only shot of the mission was fired at another XCOM soldier while mind controlled. This shot missed, but set a car on fire which later blew up on an Advent Grenadier, thus giving Lil Man a kill before he'd ever even attacked an enemy unit.🤣🤣
An entry in the personal journal of Vera Akimova, written in Russian. March 27th, 2035 - Barracks I have not hurt this badly in a very long time. The medicine does not help. Prison was not a kind experience, ever, and the labor was cruel and demanding. But I had friends, and I was young. They kept me from harm for many of my years there. I was not beat to the edge of death, like some of them had been. And I have never been shot before. Losing my arm hurt. To take it myself *hurt*. But when I breathe, I swear that I can feel pieces inside of me moving. It brings me pain. Perhaps it was my fault? Maybe I mistimed things? I did not think... Or, or perhaps I was just distracted? I did not know that the enemy lay in wait for me to enter his sights. I did not. I... I really did not. This mission. It was hard. All at once. I was too focused on other things, those purple ghosts. They must have been real, for they were able to die. This war is more than metal and blood. ADVENT, there is more to them than a faceless legion. The blue demon, it... did something, to my comrade. Something serious - command was certain that she was lost to us for that moment. It was sinister. I... I understand that I am not as faithful to God as I should be. Too often I consult his presence, his mercy, only when something has gone terribly wrong. And I suppose that this day is not different. I thank you, exalted Lord, for your grace and protection. That your grace guided my hand. That we all returned alive. I am not a violent person, oh Lord. I swear it... I am not. But I believe in justice, and... is it not your own teachings that counsel a degree of retribution? In prison, I watched men stab and bleed one another. I was younger then, and my father's comrades did not drive me to violence. But today, I killed. I know where the knife needs to be, to become fatal. And I killed. I survived. ... I will **always** survive. Happier news. Yui and Kitty - the woman in the red jacket - have been teaching me. I cannot speak or read English very well. I speak Russian. Not many others do, and certainly there are not many who have spoken with me. Kitty went away for a mission, but Yui and I have been keeping constant. Progress is slow, but rewarding. It helps that I do not often need a reminder. I have always had a good memory. ... I am hurt now. Yui is still hurt. Nobody has been bringing her food, since her injury. Just me. I hope that they do not let us starve in here. A dedicated Infirmary is to be constructed - one where you will not risk a lethal end. Comforting to think, no? Yui fought that demon before, and she returned injured. She remains injured, but well recovered. I am glad. Truthfully. There are not many I could call a friend on this ship - so many keep to themselves. I have sought friends all my life, and yet so often I was rejected. My speech is funny, they say. My scar is an object of disgust. The tattoos they put on my arm are strange and ugly. It is ironic to me, then, that so many strange people have found their home aboard Avenger. A small comfort. Yui is the only true friend I have. Miss Kitty, when she returns, may come back to resume the teaching. That would be perfect.

At least it gives some equality. Between the enemies who can't hit a thing, 5-men squad and 9-health soldiers having no grazes would lead to a very short episode
Covert Intercessor, Aren Locke - Log #4 Managed to send the snacks to Boatman and Matcha. Stuff from before ADVENT, "The Old World" as they would like to call it. Despite their efforts to suppress all things before the invasion, stuff like these are still being made and kept. Hope those two enjoy the treats, especially if they hardly had food from the Old World. X-com had decided on going through that five man mission. Most of the soldiers got critically wounded, however, aside from the Old Man. Think I remember seeing him back at the original base, with the science team; can't tell ya how he's still kicking (Even fighting) in his age. The Warlock was there again, and put up more of a fight. Part of why most of the squad got injured badly. But despite those injuries taken, despite the presence of the Warlock, the ADVENT troops present, and the reinforcement that came, the team came out successful. (Chuckle) You got yourself some good soldiers, Commander. Upside, the Warlock's presence and defeat from the previous mission means that there's a more less likely chance that the giant psionic nutcase will show up in the infiltration mission. Said mission is now ready for launch, the team able to gather all that they need. We just have to wait until either the Commander gives word to start, or if he wants to over-infiltrate and gather more info. Locke out.
Warwolf's Log, Entry 97 A report came in of XCOM intercepting an ADVENT truck carrying orders for one of their ships. No other details about the objective, but there was confirmation of a worrying development: The "Chosen" are becoming active, again, with the Warlock coming to the truck's defense. It didn't help, since XCOM supposedly put him down... for the time being. I'm still trying to arrange passage to Africa to join XCOM, myself, but, as you can imagine, it's not quite as simple as buying a plane ticket and taking a quick hop over the Atlantic. But I still hold on to this dream. I need to be part of this, to help free my home. In the meantime, our mole in the ADVENT government has passed on a request to the resistance and other independent humans. We're to try and find hidden facilities the aliens built in the middle of bumfuck nowhere across the planet. What are they? No one knows, only that they're needed for some big plan that'll screw us over if it succeeds. I'll help if and how they ask me.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to draft an official complaint regarding a shocking incident that recently transpired at my small business. As a loyal and law-abiding citizen, I have always upheld the values and stability that ADVENT provides to our community. However, I must report a disturbing act of violence carried out by a group of rebels, which I witnessed firsthand. These rebels, whom I can only describe as savages, launched an unprovoked attack while ADVENT forces were merely passing by. In their reckless violence, they set fire to my shop, causing extensive damage and looting. I found myself a victim of their senseless aggression. In the chaos, I witnessed these insurgents mercilessly shooting down our brave law enforcement officers. While hiding for my safety, I saw a particularly horrifying scene-one of the rebels confronted a large, purple figure who seemed to be the last law enforcer standing. I admit, the smoke and confusion might have affected my perception, but the figure did not appear entirely human. The rebel then attacked this figure with a knife, an act of brutality that left me deeply shaken. As a responsible citizen, I feel compelled to report these events and seek assistance. The damage to my business is substantial, and I would appreciate any financial help that ADVENT can provide to restore my livelihood. Personal Log #4 Rex "Lil Man" Marshall Operation Tengu Halberd (Translated from French) 27 March 2035 Evening-17:17 Everything hurts…hurts so badly! I really should be asleep to let my body rest. But there is just too much on my mind. So remember how I said that we’ve been fairly successful in our mission? Yeah well, that changed quickly. Both came back with wounds, Boatman obviously out for a few weeks. Then my name was called for the next mission, along with Sunset, Old Man, Aptitude, and Geographer. A five-man squad, which is a little unusual. But shit, with so many people out, I’m honestly happy we had five of us ready to go. Between the physical injuries, the mental fatigue, and the other squad preparing for another mission, we’re thin on bodies. From what the commander says, this should be an easy mission, just recovering something from a truck. But as I have learned from my table top roleplaying days, there is no such thing as a milk run. Haha, I wonder if Melk has ever heard that phrase before. The mission didn’t start out too badly. We did blow our cover by a sectoid spotting us, but we took care of that group without any trouble. But then that Chosen showed up. He came out of nowhere and then as I raced up to the truck, so did he. The commander was sending me in to grab the biometric markers (what do they do-no idea; I’ll leave that to the scientists). I was face-to-face with the Warlock. He’s an ugly thing! Sharp teeth, wrinkled purple skin, and a weird looking nose. You can tell that this Chosen guy was not to be seen by regular civilians. The troopers look like regular soldiers with their helmets on. This guy is gross. I ran into the truck and hacked the container effortlessly, surprising both myself and the commander. I mean, I did do some hacking-related stuff when looking for information on Mom, but yeah, nothing like that. The container popped open and I pocketed the markers. There was sudden commotion outside, everyone mentioning reinforcements on the comms. I knew I had to get out and help. But then…I felt excruciating pain at the back of my skull. My body froze as outside thoughts and whispers wormed all around my mind. I tried to fight it, but eventually I lost control of myself. I was moving not of my own will. I even was forced to take a shot on Aptitude. Thank God I missed and even helped out the team by shooting a car that exploded and killed off a trooper. Random ass shit for the win! I don’t know how much time passed, but I eventually got freed from the Warlock’s control, but then he just took over Sunset’s mind. Aptitude’s knife skills though saved the day and dispatched guy super quick. After that it was just cleaning up the rest. Though one sneaky trooper almost took somebody out. Alright, I gotta get some sleep. Hopefully, I’ll be up on my feet soon. God this sucks…
It’s funny watching the super serious cut scenes when Odd generally delays any story until he is OP enough for it to be boring. I think the story missions were even tweaked to be cool and fresh for this campaign
Dude, that was tense, but I love how you took down the Chosen. I can picture the Warlock using his mind-control on Sunset, and then Aptitude just rushing him while his guard is down, full on spear tackling him, and then just going to town on him with her knife. This campaign has been so sick so far! But man, that restrictive reload is going to bite us in the end, I can feel it...
I counted 25 attacks with 7 grazes in this mission. I agree with a bunch of the comments I'm seeing. Those grazes are too frequent. If your hit chance is 80% it looks like every attack roll from 60-80 grazes. If it were everything from 78-82, that would be fine. Sometimes a shot which would hit is instead a graze. Sometimes a shot which would miss is a graze. Like this though, we're seeing too many grazes.
@@MolnarG007 Except that the grazes don't come from misses. They come from hits, I believe. So, if you have 80% chance to hit, if it rolls 60-80 then it turns your hit into a graze. 80+ is still a miss.
@@GoodEggGuy If so i also don't like it, but i hope its half-half. So few hits are grazes and few misses too. But it's still less issue in my eyes than turn ending reload.
Sunset is by far my favourite character. Hope to see her develop more into the shield build. I am aware that i just massively jinxed it and she will probably die on her next mission.
I really dislike the preview at the start of the episodes and wish that it wasn’t a thing. The blur is an improvement though, won’t be spoiled as I skip past it. That said, loving the campaign so far! Having a blast watching it.
You mentioned that shield acts like cover for it's wielder. When the enemies spotted sunset it said "spotted FLANKED enemy" and they got the free shot that grants them and her icon shows flanked when she's standing out in the open. I'm just wondering if that is working entirely as expected.
Love the Series , that is the reason i subbed in the 1st place but let me also say and probably odd dose not need to read this but tip to some people avoid the spreading of damage always focus on the same target after all one less enemy is less dmg coming in ^^
Is the entire list out? I subscribed to both lists on steam but seem to be missing like 100+ mods. I'm assuming: "Covert Infiltration, Requiem Legion, Amalgamation, and some Enemy Within flavor including Mec Troopers, Gene Mods, and more!" Any way to identify entire library? Discord maybe?
Yes, the loot indicators have been on the whole time. I have that mod, but with loot indicators disabled in my setup, so they stood out to me on Gatecrasher.
We go through this in every campaign, Odd never remembers that missions with a collection or VIP objective ALWAYS spawn reinforcements when the objective is achieved! =P Also, it's the zombies that prime not spectral army btw.
I'd make the comment I'm thinking, but it'd be "spoilery", so I wont haha. Instead, I'll just say I'm really enjoying the beginnings of this new series, a lot! So, again, thanks to everyone involved in making it possible!!! You really bring so much enjoyment to me and, I'm certain, to many others as well!!! 😁
Mod idea for Construction Breakthroughs: they reduce cost of building per day for each day you research it- up to a total of 10 days. Makes it easy to get a quick small reduction without committing too much time if you don't want to.
Hit chances seem very high for rookies and squaddies. I think your hit chances include the chance to graze, ie 60%hit 20%graze and it shows you 80%. I think its a setting in that mod to show the bands more accurately
I'm really enjoying watching this campaign, and I want to play with the same mods, but i keep getting an error saying "error detected attemping load of package: MechatronicWarfarePerkPack" I am using the AML as well, i cant figure out the issue.
Elliot ‘Boatman’ Tebaia Operation Tengu Halberd 31 March 2035 Four more people returned injured to the Avenger, out of a deployed squad of five. Two of them, Vera and Rex, are seriously hurt. The Infirmary is still not complete yet, so Tygan is still doing his best with scavenged medical supplies. I heard the others talking about an encounter with a being known as the ‘Warlock’ and his ability to control people’s minds, like a very powerful sectoid. It also seems they have fought him twice, but he was a fully sentient creature that could speak, and not like a Lost zombie. How do we kill an enemy that won’t stay dead? I don’t think even the Commander knows the answer. For now, he seems desperate to boost our numbers by recruiting new soldiers and support staff. I pass time continuing my studies with this tablet, a kind loan from Central. The more pre-invasion ebooks I read, the more I am angry at how much the Elders kept from us. Kept us happy, ignorant, harmless little captives on our islands, catching fish and making tapioca pudding, unable to access or use machines that would have made our lives easier, but also made us more dangerous rebels if we chose. Some XCOM fighters from the shining cities might even envy that life because their prison was of a different type - total technological dependency on the Elders at the cost of basic outdoor skills. Aren Locke, our dear covert intercessor, sent some ‘Old World’ snacks addressed to myself and Zhora. It may be nostalgia to him, but it’s all new to me. It’s very kind of him and I’ll go through them slowly to savour them. Chewing too quickly still hurts anyway. With plenty of time to kill, I have finished reading Orwell’s ‘1984’, read ‘World War Z’ and am enjoying ‘Ender’s Game’ whenever I need a break from Sun Tzu’s ‘Art of War’. At this rate, I’ll get to the Hunt for Red October next week. It’s a lot, but it keeps my mind occupied. (Author's note: If reading all those books in 5 days seems like a LOT, its because Elliot's combat intelligence is really high and he's a more voracious learner than even he knows.)
How did you manage to get Mag Weapons & Plated Armour this early I have never had that happen? is that a edit or a mod doing that? Good luck enjoying the watch!
Please take Toxic, Acrobat, Aptitude and Matcha out on one mission so we can have all the pretty ladies. Cheers. You were so lucky on this one. How have you played XCOM for so long and not seen the warlock mind control more than one trooper? Mind you, I’ve only encountered him a couple of times when I wasn’t overpowered enough to kill him instantly.
Remember The chosen should stop the clock. Also Odd using grenade might not blow truck, but it usually starts a fire. Learn from the lesson of past events.
17:46 Actually, you should believe it doubly, for it is doubly real! When you succeed in a hack, the progress bar does show you your actual (single) roll result. It's when you fail it that the game secretly makes another roll between zero and the chance to succeed minus one, and then the bar shows the highest of two rolls. A comment in the code claims this, and I quote, "makes for more exciting gameplay".
I would remind Odd once again that Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer but I think Xcom has done that job well today
Rex "Lil Man" Marshall may have just put up the weirdest statline I've ever seen. His only shot of the mission was fired at another XCOM soldier while mind controlled.
God this sucks…
man every time i watch this its something new
It’s funny watching the super serious cut scenes when Odd generally delays any story until he is OP enough for it to be boring. I think the story missions were even tweaked to be cool and fresh for this campaign
Well done!
That was a blinder.
Everyone has those Matrix level dodges this season.
I gotta be honest the dodges are really cramping the style. you're good decisions are less rewarding and your mistakes are less punished, not into it
Completely agree
I agree
ChristopheOdd: "This was a good start to the campaign, I'm feeling really good about this."
XCOM: "... and I took that personally."
Just got a membership so I can watch episodes early.. So worth it!!
Personally i prefer many grazes to many misses, trained soliders wouldn't miss that much. It makes more sense.
@@MolnarG007 Turn ending reload is brutal! Peak masochism :-)
Aaaah! The butt clenching when I spotted the forgotten one!
Sunset is by far my favourite character. Hope to see her develop more into the shield build.
I am aware that i just massively jinxed it and she will probably die on her next mission.
I really expected some doom on this one. Amazing job, m'man.
Not a fan of the preview at the start, spoils what happens in the video, I do my best to skip it but damn if it doesn’t ruin the surprise 😢
“We’re hitting our shots” proceeds to miss everything immediately after 😂
Another nail biting mission! Aptitude be shanking hard!
I really dislike the preview at the start of the episodes and wish that it wasn’t a thing. The blur is an improvement though, won’t be spoiled as I skip past it. That said, loving the campaign so far! Having a blast watching it.
Loving the series!!!
Right on schedule! Good stuff's coming, and I'm not talking about my dinner😅
Being 5 parts behind is kinda nice, means I'll always have something to watch. Really enjoying this season Chris!
That episode preview right into seeing a 5 soldier only squad really spells disaster...
Two missions in a row that were touch and go. This has become difficult immediately. Spicy!!!
You mentioned that shield acts like cover for it's wielder. When the enemies spotted sunset it said "spotted FLANKED enemy" and they got the free shot that grants them and her icon shows flanked when she's standing out in the open. I'm just wondering if that is working entirely as expected.
Love the Series , that is the reason i subbed in the 1st place but let me also say and probably odd dose not need to read this but tip to some people avoid the spreading of damage always focus on the same target after all one less enemy is less dmg coming in ^^
no fan of the previews I must say
Is the entire list out? I subscribed to both lists on steam but seem to be missing like 100+ mods. I'm assuming:
"Covert Infiltration, Requiem Legion, Amalgamation, and some Enemy Within flavor including Mec Troopers, Gene Mods, and more!"
Any way to identify entire library? Discord maybe?
I had similar issue. Had to close launcher and give steam enough time to update all the mods
"Aptitude" and "Boatman"...The perfect couple!!!

Just in case you ever have to say it, again, the city name is pronounced "Mobe*eel*."
@@Myomer104 When he said that it made me cringe.
My daily fix at last
I just noticed that old man voicelines are those of tychus in starcraft 2
Yes, the loot indicators have been on the whole time. I have that mod, but with loot indicators disabled in my setup, so they stood out to me on Gatecrasher.
Keep thinking about The Wire everytime you say Little man lol
i thought someone was going to die you were so lucky on this one
Houston we have a problem 🤣🤣🤣
We go through this in every campaign, Odd never remembers that missions with a collection or VIP objective ALWAYS spawn reinforcements when the objective is achieved! =P Also, it's the zombies that prime not spectral army btw.
We always saw the loot markers .. yes
Another great episode of SweatCOM!
I do not like the preview/spoiler at the start of each episode
Yeah I don't like it on any videos and often skip it. Hate it on Drumeo videos the worst
I think it's fun. Gets me hyped and curious.
Houston! Another cracking episode.
Old Man would look so good with a cigar.
Loving every second of this ❤❤❤
Hit chances seem very high for rookies and squaddies. I think your hit chances include the chance to graze, ie 60%hit 20%graze and it shows you 80%. I think its a setting in that mod to show the bands more accurately
I feel like the grazed happen more than it should. Like a lot more. But it's fun to watch haha
The shield soldiers get additional defense but not reduced mobility? Aren't they carrying a huge heavy shield on one arm?
Just started the video and I already love the blurred sneak peak in the beginning. Perfect middle ground!
How could I ever doubt.... I would of lost everyone. With a quickness 😂
Knife fighter is awesome, the extra action helped, but daam it was still good
Hi, new to modding XCOM. Whats the use of the community mod manager? I see that there a mod manager built into the game.
Those grazes saved the day
have you put a mod or something for more grazes that all i see
I missed the reasoning behind making reloads turn-ending... why?
To make it harder
Odd just played Enemy Within. MECs, meld, turn end reload, hit rolls are callbackscto EW
17:45 Hack tuah, open dat thang
I'm really enjoying watching this campaign, and I want to play with the same mods, but i keep getting an error saying "error detected attemping load of package: MechatronicWarfarePerkPack" I am using the AML as well, i cant figure out the issue.
Elliot ‘Boatman’ Tebaia
Operation Tengu Halberd
31 March 2035
Four more people returned injured to the Avenger, out of a deployed squad of five.
If the episode isn't at least an hour long, I am sad. 😢 today, I am happy! 😊
Corvus was born on date of Julius Caesar!
XCom is X...ellent... Love it!!
Toxic is gonna be badass halfway through this campaign now that you’ve chosen that perk early on 😊.
The Instagram comment made me lose it 🤣
How did you manage to get Mag Weapons & Plated Armour this early I have never had that happen? is that a edit or a mod doing that? Good luck enjoying the watch!
Inb4 Toxic gets takes a lethal crit and that 'Trial by Fire' ability never comes to fruition
I've been seeing the loot icons all campaign. TBH I'm relieved that you finally noticed them
Just insane so far, it's almost too much!
I don't know if it's been said before but Mobile is pronounced Moe-Bill. Loving the series by the way.
i think the warlock is going to take being shanked to death personally.
Tychus from Starcraft 2 being a sniper feels wrong... but he also has a grenade launcher so that's OK
Is this going to be one of those campaigns where the first 10 missions after the retaliation has chosen and then the next 7 doesn’t have any?
This episode was so intense! However, it is still no match for the Commander!
Do the Mods that Odd use work on GoG or just Steam?
Please take Toxic, Acrobat, Aptitude and Matcha out on one mission so we can have all the pretty ladies. Cheers. You were so lucky on this one. How have you played XCOM for so long and not seen the warlock mind control more than one trooper? Mind you, I’ve only encountered him a couple of times when I wasn’t overpowered enough to kill him instantly.
Well done , Commander
I know this map. This is the map I was playing the first time I encountered MOCX. Lost two squad mates and I failed to capture any of them in time.
Remember The chosen should stop the clock. Also Odd using grenade might not blow truck, but it usually starts a fire. Learn from the lesson of past events.
Isn't 100% grazes not a thing anymore or am i miss remembering ?
Yes…
17:46 Actually, you should believe it doubly, for it is doubly real! When you succeed in a hack, the progress bar does show you your actual (single) roll result.
It's when you fail it that the game secretly makes another roll between zero and the chance to succeed minus one, and then the bar shows the highest of two rolls. A comment in the code claims this, and I quote, "makes for more exciting gameplay".
WTF?
Did they take out the Vipers?
Finish work at 5pm, watch odd at 5:01pm
