I love their Viking videos. We always enjoy when J.None comes back to sing with the boys. They have a brand new video dropped yesterday. Classical Chaos. They brought back the Grundels from their cover of The Hall of the Mountain King.
Classical Chaos features Rachel Potter - one of their enduring collaborators through the years. She's extraordinary - has done on and off broadway, and currently lives with her family (3 kids) pursuing a country career in Nashville. The young woman you referred to is Ashley Diane. She's done several collabs with them and LOTS of shorts. Her first with VoicePlay was "If I Was a Rich Man/Girl" from Fiddler on the Roof, and also did a wonderful comedic bit with them for We Don't Talk About Bruno. There are others, but those are the ones that come to mind...
If you check the comments, you'll see that Miracle of Sound gave them 10 raised ale horns out of ten. Voiceplay has always been a five man group. They are one man short now and using featured artists on a regular basis. Sometimes they are female. I will always be here for Voiceplay and Geoff.
VoicePlay is the oldest of the 3 big a cappella groups you're probably familiar with. VP started in the mid-90s right out of high school as 4:2:Five, and changed the name to VoicePlay in 2012, just before they appeared on the TV a cappella competition show The Sing-Off - which Pentatonix and Home Free also appeared on (they both won their respective seasons (3 and 4); VoicePlay appeared in the same season as Home Free, and got about 1/2 through the season before being eliminated). Because they are the oldest, they've had the most changes in personnel of the 3 groups. Their lineup was stable after The Sing-Off for a couple of years, then the baritone (Tony Wakim) decided to back away from performing (he's still involved with the group - he and Layne Stein, the beatboxer, co-own Pattycake Productions, where many of the VoicePlay videos are filmed). J. None was Tony's replacement, and they were stable again until Earl Elkins Jr., a founding member and high tenor left in 2020 for personal reasons, and they were 1 man short again. J. None was recruited by the US Navy to sing in one of their choirs, and his eventual replacement was Cesar de la Rosa, who had the Mohawk-style hair in this video. J. None appears in many shorts and in videos when he can get away on leave, but the group is still 1 person short. Whenever they have been a person short, they have used featured guests in their videos to make up the difference. The young lady you saw was Ashley Diane, a frequent featured artist - she's done several of videos and many shorts with the group. The other guest artist you'll probably see most often is Rachel Potter, who is the feature in their newest video, Classical Chaos!
Thanks for that, and you're welcome! I tend to wait for a set of requests to be covered before asking for more, but you get so many requests that it takes quite a long time. That's OK - your other subscribers have mostly good taste too... 😁😉 Apparently Geoff took >80 takes to get that first long low note - they're a dedicated bunch!
Thank you John (whoever you are 😉). VP has been a 4-man squad since J None left to sing bass for the navy. So they get guest artists usually as the 5th person - whatever the song requires. Sometimes J is the guest artist. They are do talented - they do the entire offering from start to finish. 🌹🕊
Geoff and Layne each have 5 octave range, play several instruments and have been friends since jr high. J None is in the U.S. navy now but takes leave or weekend downtime to sing with voiceplay.
VoicePlay has had an open spot since J. None left to sing with the US Navy ... we're hoping he returns full time when his Navy obligation ends. In the meantime, VP has featured exceptional singers that they've met and befriended over the years.
Since you mentioned Lurch in the Addams Family, check out Geoff's solo channel Monster Mash. You'll love it!! th-cam.com/video/12Sg9efb0hc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p0ctt5I_56n3EQWP. In terms of the line-up, Voiceplay has 4 full time members and they bring in a featured performer, sometimes male and sometimes female. Their recent release Classical Chaos features Rachel Potter who has been in other performances as the feature. If I Were A Rich Man / Girl, Enemy, Greatest Showman, Little Mermaid, Hide & Seek (Ding Dong) and others feature a female guest.

Awesome Thankies 🔥🤘🔥
Fun fact: Vikings in real life engaged in contests of rhythmic poetry--they called it 'flyting,' but it's the same basic concept as a rap battle.
Whoop 🙌

Whoop Thankies 🤘
Well done! Love the depth and richness of this version. Geoff's low notes were subhuman. What an amazing arrangement! Thanks. Dang!!!!

I've had a long work day and greatly needed a bit of Dashy and dad.
Hope you enjoyed it! 🤩

I agree that Geoff could have a voice acting career as lurch or other people with sketchy levels of rich base
Definitely whoop 🙌
I suspect you will enjoy this one too. Geoff does 3 B0s in this next to last white key on the end of the piano.
Whoop 🙌
Feuerschwanz do a cover of this track, which isn’t actually that bad. For a great a cappella metal band you guys should check out Van Canto.
Awesome 🤩
