We do have craft beer bars here, more in KL and Penang than in the smaller cities. Bootleg homemade rice wine is sold secretly usually by the neighbourhood aunty. There are several types with different names. Some taste quite similar. There is tuak by the Sarawakians, lihing by the Sabahans, yellow rice wine by the chinese. The Foochow chinese make a more unique one - red yeast rice wine. The wines made by the Chinese are usually used for cooking. You can also drink it as is.
