He’s such a killer. But what sets him apart from so many shredhounds is that he’s an actual musician who has written boatloads of fantastic music. Riffs, solos ... the works. When technique, chops and proficiency is combined with the capacity to compose, well, look out. Big fan of Jeff’s.

We are so lucky to have someone like him setting the example and raising the bar in our time..he is a true inspiration to a lot of musicians and he is one of the few shredders that actually kick major ass on the rythm department too!Guys like him, Dimebag, Jeff Waters made alot of people get serious about guitar!

If you're using TH-cam to learn what he's doing, turn the playback speed down and you'll be able to hear and see how he plays it.

No. Tune up is slang for "tune". The word "up" doesn't mean going up in pitch in this instance. It's like saying "eat up".

Its' been 28 years after the first strum on strings and becoming 43 these days. During 12-13 years of time, periodically I had courage to try some Jeff Loomis to improve myself. Now Again My Guitar on my hand, watching this video, I remembered again why I gave up everytime. Simply... I can not play it. My fingers can't catch up. I can not memorize these patterns. I will turn back to my league and continue to master, Master of Puppets album or Rust in Peace.

You’ll get it eventually. Don’t give up! 🤘
I seriously started guitar nearly 15 years ago, and while Jeff’s work is a challenge, I can only play one of his songs (Shouting Fire At A Funeral), and not even perfectly. The key is to make it your own. Take techniques you learn from him or any other of your influences and put them into your own material. Start slowly and work your way up in speed. Lucas Mann, guitarist of Rings Of Saturn, says that he works up to the tempo of the song he’s practicing by 5 - 10 bpm, then plays it faster to nail the muscle memory. That may work as well.

Its more.about economy than it is speed. Master economy picking and alternate picking. Learn some stuff between Loomis and megadeth, like conducting from the grave or the faceless. I'm 20 years into guitar.and just barely able to do Jeff's stuff accurately. You also have to start his stuff at 20 percent speed. An easy solo thata fun is inside 4 walls

I had this same mentality when watching a Zakk Wylde video maybe 5 years ago now. If your new to shred, definitely loomis is not a starting point. Learn simpler solos like man in a box, some ac/dc or whatever music you like. I’ve since worked my way up to shredding Zakk wylde solo’s like I never thought I could. Loomis though… still, he is on a whole nother level. Just bought a 7 string Washburn Solar yesterday with the loomis blackout pickups and have the conquering dystopia tab book. It’s daunting as hell but a better time to start than 2 years ago is today. Don’t give up @serdar213 you 100% have the potential to shred like this if you truly want to, just gotta keep putting in the reps.

He does what he loves to do for the joy and love of doing it, along with the discipline and dedication it takes to honour and master his art the way he does..So awesome and humble, he has the serenity that only someone that has nothing to prove to anybody has..its a quality that people only possess when they need and live to do what they do, besides loving it and liking it

I have found that Jeff's picking style, the way he holds the pick and the actual picking stroke works well for me since I have floating tremolo. I tried picking like Dimeola with pick deeper into my palm and lower part of palm on the bridge but I kept putting the strings out of tune. Using my fingers as the anchor point also gives my a reference as to where I am am relative to the strings. Wish I could use the palm on bridge approach because I think that might actually have some advantages but it just doesn't seem to work for me
