One rules correction...when you win the hand by taking 4 bosses, you score the bosses you took. You don't take the bosses from your opponent's hands. You only do that when you win the hand by having the opponent take 7 tricks. This may be why the play was so short for you.

But I like yokai most at 3, while this is more of a review of the 4 player game, which I'd agree with Zee is mostly good. I never had too much trouble with the theme as trick-taking is wont to disregard theme most times anyway. I think the game has a nice pace of winning certain tricks and avoiding others. The balancing act here is a fun one!
My group and I really like the game. I like the tension it sets up right from the first play and with the larger number of suits it has, it means that someone can be short of a colour early on too. I always like it when it comes to the table.
Great review Zee. On the surface it looks pretty intriguing, but after listening to your game breakdown I can see where it falls apart. I'm sticking with Claim or Fox in the Forrest.😎

I liked the game. Played it about 10 times so far. The theme in trick-taking game isn't a big factor for me. Another example of a horrible card design but an excellent game: Fairy Tales
Bought it in a bulk of games and never played it. Time to get the dust out.
can you trump at anytime? like if someone plays a red 7 and I have a red but also trump. can I trump or I have to play red
You must follow in every trick if you can. So in that situation you would have to play red.
Weird game
This is begging for a bidding system. Maybe bid how few tricks you can take and still grab 4 bosses?
The Crew has ruined all other trick taking games for me.
